Things to do including nearby casinos to MResort

Just booked 6/24 to 6/27 at MResort. Nice suite comp. Played but never stayed there. A little Covid phobic and based on what I’m seeing on the strip and downtown we are figuring M may be a more suitable spot for us. It’s large and spread out and I’ve never seen big crowds there. The plan is to stay mainly on the resort property but wondering if anyone knows of any nearby bars or other casinos to recommend? We are calling this our “no strip trip”.

 

I am not aware of any other casinos in the immediate area. I think South Point is the closest and its a few miles away. I have seen some bars in the area driving around there, but never stopped in any. If you are looking for something relatively safe and different to do, go see the Seven Magic Mountains. You're already half way there if you're staying at M. Its outdoors, interesting, and never draws huge crowds (so less risk)

Green Valley Ranch is in the vicinity, nice property, couldn't tell you about the crowd now though, there is also an outdoor shopping and dining place next door to it called the district that might be worth a look,

 

You certainly will be unencumbered by other guests at the M...the place has been dead since re-opening. Sushi and Italian restaurants have yet to open and others have more limited hours. Rooms are very nice...sportsbook is absolutely terrible. GVR is close by, but it will be a lot more crowded as will Southpoint. The Camping World is close to the M if you are interested in that. You might also consider a trip to the Silverton as they have a nice indoor aquarium and a Bass Pro Shops attached. You can drive down to see the Raiders practice facility right down the street from the M or hop on the 15 and you will drive right pass the new stadium.

 

SP is about 3 miles north of the M. Highly recommend their steakhouse.

 

And if you go to 7 magic mountains, it’s a hop, skip and a jump to Goodsprings, NV.

There’s literally nothing there but an old saloon that was made popular by a video game 8 or so years ago.. but for fans of the fallout series, it’s kinda cool to see in real life.

Now it’s a tourist trap ghost/alien-themed bar or some such.

Terrible’s is down that way... but I’m not sure who goes there. And if you really were stuck for something to do, Bonnie and Clyde’s car is in Whiskey Pete’s on 15 about a mile before the CA state line.

 

Some Vegas locals are recommending to visitors that this is a good time to rent a car and check out some of the areas away from the strip and downtown, if you're looking for something to do besides gambling. You can take a drive out to Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, Mt. Charleston, etc. which I doubt will be too crowded.

 

Go to Costco not too far away on St. Rose Parkway, especially if you have a rental car that needs gas. Their prices are usually cheaper than the Arco outside the M that advertises to people driving back to California to fill up there and take advantage of low Nevada prices. A few more blocks up is Big Texas BBQ by St. Rose Hospital.

 

If you like sushi but don't go much because it costs a fortune to fill you up (hand raised) you can get AYCE made to order sushi at Sushi Mon which isn't too far away for 22-27 bucks lunch/dinner. I went for lunch many years back and had gyoza, 12 orders of nigiri and their lychee sherbert in the allocated 45 minutes. Just don't waste any food or I believe they charge you extra (wasn't a problem for me). I wish I had gone for dinner to finally try sea urchin which they allow you one order per AYCE session.

I had rented a car on that trip and the stop before was the M Resort when it was still relatively new.

Go golfing at Southern Highlands ($$$$$)

Go to Sean Patrick’s (used to be Molly Malone’s when I went last)

 

Very good Sushi happy hour (everyday) at the Zenshin at Southpoint. Usually starts at 2:00, but I think pushed back to 4:00 now...you'd better check. Lots of choices and pricing allows you to order a wide variety of dishes. FYI...at least as of last week, the sushi/noodle place at the M was still closed.

Totally agree with the Happy Hour at the Zenshin at Southpoint. I was there in Feb. and ended up there three times for appetizers and drinks

Also, if I haven't said this already on 10 different threads, go to the Oyster Bar and get the clam chowder

 

Oyster Bar is currently closed for remodeling. Should reopen in August???

At the M yesterday. Just about everyone wearing masks when walking around...probably about 25% with it on, but not over mouth or nose. About 50% use at the machines when people are sitting down. They had a Raiders cup giveaway so the casino was moderately busy...looked like a lot of family with kids. We had a very good day on VP and, in walking around, it looked like lots of winners on the various slots and VP.
