I’m going to be up in Tahoe for a few days and want to check out Reno for the first time.

I enjoy unique casinos (usually themes are fun to see) and am curious what their nicest joints are.

Any casino bars recommended for free drinks as a Diamond player?

anything else to know about how things work?

Are there 5 joints worth hitting? Appreciate any tips!

I don't know that Eldorado is comping CET players yet, so drinks are probably out of the question, since Harrahs Reno is no more.

Walk the Eldorado, Silver Legacy, and Circus Circus to see three different themed casinos maybe?

Other than that, there is GSR, John Ascuaga's Nugget, Atlantis, Peppermill, downtown Reno there's Cal Neva, and Sands Regency.

You can sign up for player's clubs if that's your thing. GSR is now the owners of the Sahara in Las Vegas.

Other than that, I can't really think of anything.

I believe DaiLun listed the properties that I would have mentioned. I actually just received an email from the Peppermill today with a comp offer for a couple of free nights, but like Vegas, not everything is fully open due to Covid. I normally stay at either the Peppermill or Eldorado when I visit Reno, but the Atlantis and GSR are nice properties too. If you're interested is something other than casinos, Virginia City which isn't too far from Reno is a cool old western town with vintage shops, bars, restaurants, etc.

I heard you can shoot a man just to watch him die. But you may sing some sort of blues afterwards.

I feel like Reno was a place that was cooler like 20 years ago when the Peppermill was still full of mirrors and neon pink. They still have a fireside bar very similar to the one in Vegas worth checking out.

I kind of like the Atlantis and would probably stay there if I go again. I also like the Eldorado and oddly enough the Cal Neva for ultimate sleaze.

Not casino related, but the Reno's Riverwalk District is pretty cool and, well, walkable. Nice restaurants and bars and a generally attractive, park-like area on the river.

20 years ago??!!?? You should have seen it 40 years ago before there were Indian casinos. It was a "hoppin'" place to be.

Fitzgerald's, with the (admittedly) slowest elevators in the world.

Nevada Club, where they used to play jackpots with coins in paper bags.

The little casino across the railroad tracks on Virginia St. where I used to play bingo pinball for money.

It WAS indeed the "Biggest Little City in the World"

Bingo. And Midtown. The area's really bootstrapping. But I haven't been there since the outbreak so can't comment on what you'd find now. The Nevada Museum of Art, for a town of that size, is a real stunner. And of course the National Automobile Museum.

My first trip to Reno was in 1991. Things have definitely changed!

Walking outside from Circus Circus to Eldorado.

    Fitzgerald’s
    Comstock
    Flamingo

I could go on and on. It was still great back in the 90’s in my opinion

Its been around a long time and was very good when I saw it years ago.

Yes Reno was a hopping place for us Canadians in the 60,s and 70,s. Bus trips to Reno where quite the adventure.

Grand Sierra is like the mega resort of Reno right now. You could go there and not really have to leave. Great buffet and bowling alley in there as well
