I gave up and cancelled our Sept trip over Covid concerns. We had Early Bird for both of us, both ways, so $100. Before September 7th, if you cancel your flight they will issue a voucher for Early Bird.

Vouchers can be used by anyone, not just the person they were issued to. They do expire one year from the date you cancel. Just a FYI.

I'll probably cancel our Oct trip next. 2020 is turning into the year we never traveled anywhere.:cry:

Interestingly enough, you cannot use those vouchers to purchase Early Bird on your next reservation.
They are only valid for airfare purchases.

Good to know if i need to cancel my september or october trip, and not know dates to rebook yet.

Did you do this online or via phone?

    Thanks,

Via phone. We have a Companion Pass and that means all changes have to be made via telephone.

I heard if you have a wanna get away flight and want to cancel upgrade to business select first. Then cancel and you get a full refund not a credit.

When you say all changes have to be made via phone... I assume that is because of early bird? I make companion changes online all the time. I also book one ways as it is easier when only making change to one direction.

Had never heard of that before... but I guess that might work. Hmmmm

By the way, all credits right now do not expire until Sept of 2022 - not going to be hard using them up.

Whenever I try and change both our flights on-line (with one companion) it says I must call-in because there is a companion flight attached.

Yes. You can CANCEL the companion, then add it back in after you make the change. One of the reasons I do not add companion too far in advance as I know I often change flights.

Good to know, thanks! But, if I already purchased EB, I can't cancel w/o losing that fee.
But good to know if I ever get to fly again.

As mentioned, if you have early bird, then you have to call in. By the way, SWA is keeping middle seats open via passenger limits through at least the end of Sept - so no need for early bird for a bit.
