Should be a good fit. Just my anecdotal experience, but it seems that with the exception of the Golden Nugget (probably because of the nice pool,) downtown properties don’t see a lot of kids anyway. Sure, a lot of families visit Fremont Street while in Vegas, and some wander through the casinos, but I would think the number that actually stay at downtown hotels is pretty low overall. And for the record, i have no problem with kids in Vegas. In the words of the immortal W.C Fields: I like children - if they’re properly cooked....

perhaps stevens is hoping this draws some people who wouldn't otherwise stay/play downtown. walking down the strip past 10pm and physically bumping into strollers gets old.

That's my take as well. Even at the GN, I don't see many children, although I am rarely there in the summer vacation months. So, I see this as more of a marketing PR thing.

In Laughlin, Harrah's had an "Adult" tower. There would be almost as many children in that tower as in any other. After years of this, probably due to complaints of non enforcement, they gave up and it is no longer designated as an adult tower.

I am thrilled to death about this!! I don't think DT is a particularly kind place to have children flouncing about. I think there are several strip properties where hosting children makes more sense. I typically don't see too many children in the casinos I frequent. On my last trip in Feb., for the first time, I encountered a huge family that had 5 kids at the Plaza. I was shocked as I hadn't even encountered any children anywhere on that property previously. I remember thinking to myself that I hope that wasn't a trend. Perhaps if Circa is uber-successful, we'll see this policy acquired by others. What a fab adults-only playground DT would make!

Hard to really say what 21+ means.

Does it mean they will only market to 21+?
Does it mean they will not allow under 21 in certain areas - like pool?
Does it mean under 21 can not even stay in a hotel room?
Does it mean under 21 can not enter the premises for any reason?

Time will tell. And, even we knew exactly what the current policy is (in detail), better than 6:5 it will change at least once....

Stevens has definitely chosen his own path and appears to be sticking with it. I also applaud this decision. We rarely if ever head DT as our experiences there have been less than positive. If this policy sticks and they do a good job of deploying it we WILL patronize Circa.

Assume they will get bounced to D or Golden Gate if kids are in tow at check-in.
Otherwise maybe a free one way Uber to Circus Circus.

I don’t see any ambiguity in this screenshot from Circa website booking details - the hotel clearly states 21+ only.

    “This hotel features:
    . Adults Only, 21+ Experience

That in addition to their statement yesterday that it’s a 21+ only resort indicates to me they mean no kids anywhere.
As you noted things can always change, but for now it’s no kids.

Well, as I said in another thread, they will sometimes have a security guy at the main door at the D who will confront and card anyone who looks to be underage and unaccompanied. I'm very sure their enforcement plan will be something along the same line.

I like it. I don't have anything against kids, but I don't go to Las Vegas to interact with a bunch of kids (let's say.....anyone under 40 :kill:).

I once saw the security folks at the Wynn stop a couple pushing a kid in stroller. They were told that strollers were not allowed in the Wynn. The security people explained that, the Wynn felt it was a safety hazard because someone could trip over the stroller. And then they showed the couple the door.

I was walking past the entrance to the D one night, and was wearing my camera backpack. The security guard stopped me, and said I wasn't allowed to bring a backpack into the casino. I said that was going to workout just fine, because I wasn't planning to go into the the D. He said: "Oh". And then I walked off. :kill:

Pretty sure the Bellagio said the same thing (no one under 21) when they first opened.

Staggered as to why (mostly American?) people seem to hate kids around Vegas...?

I mean, I’d take mine in a heartbeat, there’s literally nothing I would not want to see them that they don’t see when we walk through, for example, Brussels in Europe (weed, drunks,...).

I loved to see them enjoy theirselves around the Mandalay Bay pool complex, for one thing.

But that’s entirely another discussion, I guess.

Its only as good as they enforce it. But, as others said, good for them and the adults.

We're downtown people and I guess this is a marketing angle, but in 20+ years of staying downtown, we have never had an issue with kids. Sure, we always wonder when we see young kids on Fremont at midnight and the buskers that are out there, but never had an issue at MSS, Cal, Plaza, GG or 4Q inside with kids.

You kids can stay on my lawn, I don't care. :D

Many people view Vegas as an adult playground.

Kids aren't necessarily the issue, it's kids whose parents refuse to discipline them. Huge difference.

I guess it's a conflicting question and one that may feel a little judgy, but honestly I don't like seeing small children in LV because it doesn't feel fair to them. I completely agree that when kids are in their double digits in age it makes sense, but a 2 year old in a stroller rolling down the strip at 2 am just doesn't seem right.

Personally we won't take our daughter to LV until she is in her middle teens at least. Old enough to want to go and understand the laws and restrictions, but still enjoy pools and shows and shopping etc.

I think a lot of us just kind of lump 2 year olds and 16 year olds in one category as "kids" and say "kids" don't belong on a LV vacation.

That seems strange. What if you were going in to check into the hotel and that's what you had packed?

FWIW, for comparison only, from a large scale to a smaller scale.

When Colorado casinos opened 25 years ago, it was ruled No one under 21, period. This was prior to even any hotels being built. To this day, under 21 is limited to hotel room, certain restaurants, and pool area only. None are ever allowed to any part of any gaming area and if no hotel, you are not allowed in, period. I see many young people carded and wearing wrist bands.

Also, no smoking inside went in place 2 years ago. Even the casino workers pushed for the change.

Personally, I like not seeing poor little tired toddlers, being out too late, and can barely keep their eyes open, being pushed in their strollers and also not having to move dirty ashtrays out of the way, while i am playing, esp BJ.

Let's try not to let this thread become yet another one bashing kids in Vegas. Let's keep it on topic of Circa (at least initially) being a 21 and over property entirely.

This isn't the thread to share your favorite child in Vegas horror story. Thanks!
