If CET doesn't extend the expiration of RCs beyond 9/1/2020, how much lead time do I need to get the credit card and have points post to my account. My wife has the CET Visa, can I get the reward account associated with that Visa card changed from her card to my card?
If you applied online, I think you'd probably have it in a week, week and a half. I can't remember exactly how long it took, but it wasn't long. I don't use it often, but RCs post to my TR account within a day or two of each individual cc transaction. I have the card and I don't see any way online to change the TR account associated with the credit card, the TR number doesn't show up anywhere. It's not mentioned at all in the credit card FAQ or Help pages or even in the T & Cs. I don't think they'd let you change it to someone else's TR account. But she could log in on the credit card website and send an email to ask.
"but RCs post to my TR account within a day or two of each individual cc transaction." Thanks for this info. I thought it was more like airline/hotel credit cards where the points only post once a month, usually after the statement date. I also look at the website and didn't see any info on changing the associated TR acct #, but I thought I would ask the forum.
Mlife and the CET card, I see points/RCs within a couple of days. I only have one airline card, and yeah, those points only get posted once a month.
I applied by phone in 2018... I can't recall exactly how long, but I'm pretty sure it was within a couple of weeks that I got it. If you applied right now, you'd have nothing to worry about for timing IMO. I highly doubt they'd allow this. Since Caesars Rewards account numbers don't change at all to the best of my knowledge, I don't even know if they'd have a mechanism to do this. --- As a holder of the CET Visa myself, I like that it's an easy way to get Platinum status every year and earn 5% back at CET properties. But I cannot imagine getting this card for the SOLE purpose of keeping your RC balance alive. As I understand it, you can make a purchase of chips in the Caesars online slot game (I think it's called PlayTika or something like that) for about $6 or so, and that will earn RCs thus keeping your account alive. If CET doesn't extend the deadline, if I were you I'd make a purchase like this on August 25 or so. Admittedly I don't know a whole lot about the impact of credit card applications on your credit score (nor do I know if that matters to you), though I do know that these types of inquiries CAN have an impact, and that's not something that I'd risk when there's a $6-ish alternative to solve the problem.
As long as it doesn't cause an issue with your credit score that would impact something else you wanted to do with your credit, I would get the MLife and CET cards just to keep my ECs and RCs alive, I have almost $500 worth in each. It's the easiest way, just spend a couple of bucks if/when needed. I used to use the marketplace, but there's a lag, and I don't want to have to bother checking on those transactions I also use them for the hotel charges in Vegas, but the main reason was to keep banked ECs/RCs alive. I only go twice a year and sometimes there's a little more than 6 months between trips (for the CET RCs). And no trip is ever a sure thing until I go wheels up anyway. I mean, look where we are now, even with the extensions, for the first time in about 10 years, I actually don't know for sure when's the next time I'll go to Vegas, it could easily be a year.
I have $1,200 in RCs and with my main casino Caesars Windsor and the US/CAD being closed for who knows how long, I thinking getting the card will be a good idea. I have very few CCs so a new one may actually increase my credit score.
There's also say and play survey. Just do one survey every so often to pro long expired date. https://www.sayandplay.com I think they should automatically extend it to one full year from last activity for this year.
I think the Mlife card only posts RC's once a month when the statement closes. Though I could be wrong since it don't check Mlife often.
I'll try to remember to buy a couple of bucks worth of gas this week with both and see what happens with my point total.
I signed up for the NRG gas and electricity promotion that is linked though CET. There are a handful of states (Delaware, DC, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania Maryland, NJ) can do it in. The sign up was easy and I actually still get billed by the same companies. I got 12500 RCs and then get 1 point for every billed dollar. Literally almost no points but my RCs will always be active.
I did this on June 25th. When I checked on the 27th, my CET RCs had been posted. As of today (7/3), the MLife points haven't been posted. So it looks like it's correct that MLife points get posted only once a month.
