    Hey all:

I have booked a trip to Vegas for the week after July 4 for a few nights. Going to work remotely a few days (work is slow, so just a couple hours a day) and then enjoy DT. I've been looking at some TR's and can't quite tell what DT seems to be like so hoping for some information in case I might be better off delaying my trip a few weeks.

    (1) Are all of the DT properties open?
    (2) What is the vibe like? It looks quiet, but is there any life DT right now? I'd be coming during the week, so I'd expect a quieter experience (which I actually like about DT) but I also want to feel like I'm in vegas.
    (3) With all the safety measures being used, are they still offering drink service on the floor? I'd hate to not be able to get my drinks at my craps tables!

Any thoughts/reflections anyone has on DT is appreciated. I also have offers for Palazzo on the strip and the TR properties, but I've recently switched DT for the value so thats my initial inclination and I'm currently booked into DTG.

    Thanks!!!

Main Street Station is the lone downtown casino closed right now. From what I have seen on YouTube live streams, downtown has been packed on weekends, and a little quieter than usual on weekdays/weeknights.

I’ve been down there three times since June 5th. It’s not just quieter during the day it’s shoot a cannon through the place and miss. It does pick up after five each time. As to the vibe, there are no dj or music which dims it a bit. You can get your favorite machine during the day. I guess it’s more subdued. The D for example was lively after five and the only real things you’d miss are the cafe and the steakhouse. Gg same as usual and the bar is open. Four Queens just was very empty. The GN was a surprise and there was a real lack of vibe there. Unlike the others they have machines shut off and no Starbucks. I didn’t like the new vibe but the pool was hopping. Ate at chic fila. I did not visit the others.

Thanks guys, I'm currently booked at DTG - but have pretty decent offers at the D, GG (my favorite to play, but not stay, DT), and GN - as well as good offers on strip. I normally enjoy the quietness of the DTG for an escape but head DT to the D, GG or GN to play for more excitement a lot in the evenings. Sounds like it may be less active, although maybe in a couple more weeks maybe it will be better.

With reduced table space and social distancing, I want it to be quieter so you can get the game/machine you want, but don't want it to be completely dead.

Sounds like it might be quiet (very) but still worth a trip. Thanks again for the responses!

Sorry, just to be clear - did GN have all machines, including bartop VP machines shut off? That would really be eerie!

Kind of wondering the same. I'm headed DT the week before you. (Will be there July 6 - 9) I will report back what its like. I'll probably attempt a TR, but mine never last very long before I get sloppy drunk and forget. :drunk::drunk:

I will be sure to at least give you an update then. I'm currently staying at DTG where I understand Freedom Beat and the Art Bar are open. However I'm thinking about switching to the D, GG or GN. Either way, I'll be sure to check out all of the properties.

I'll be there Thursday night, staying at the Plaza. I asked the host, and he said table games are only open 3pm-1am.

I had a good time at the DTG this past weekend. It was pretty dead during the day, but, the pool was lively. Gambling wise, it felt pretty much the same. There were still people playing away at the Furnace Bar throughout the day, myself included. BJ had 3 tables, two $10 and one $25. Drink service was plentiful each of the times I sat down. Craps was $10. I agree with what others posted that after about 5 or 6pm things started to feel a little bit normal around the casino. As far as dining goes, everything in the general area seemed open. Per the usual, I had a better time once I moved downtown last trip. I guess with the size of things, the strip felt so much emptier. Really, the only thing I missed this past weekend was being able to get hammered watching the bands on the street and had a damn good time.

Also, it seemed like as of last weekend most of the restaurants had opened back up. I ate at Pizza Rock, Smashed Pig Gastropub (lunch), Le Thai, Andiamos, and Evel Pie (lunch), and Freedom Beat (late night snack)

No sarcasm intended here, but DTG did not seem to be any different then pre Covid 19.

Does anyone know when Main Street is supposed to open? I saw on their website you couldn't start booking rooms until September! They aren't really waiting that long are they??

Yes they are. It has to do with the Hawaii travel restrictions. When Hawaii stops requiring isolation for people coming to Hawaii, they'll reopen. Really, MSS is where the overflow from the Cal reservations end up.

I'm in contact with two MSS employees and the rumor is that they are shooting to open Labor Day weekend.

I guess that makes sense. I forgot that they cater to the folks from Hawaii. I'm bummed its one of my favorite places to visit. We are going at the end of July.

It is open and free without any need for validation right now. The gates are up. You can't even get a ticket if you push the button. I parked there overnight for a couple nights last week because I didn't feel like valeting at Fremont.
