Mel Blanc, best known for voicing the various Warner Brothers cartoon characters of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series, was also the original voice of Woody Woodpecker, a Walter Lantz character.

If you're talking about the Jefferson estate in Virginia, it's "Mon ti CHELL o", but if you're talking about the village in New York, it's "Mon ti SELL o".

If you're talking about the city in Kentucky, it's "Loo eey vill" (or "Looul-ville"), but if you're talking about the town in Nebraska, it's "Loo iss vill".

The first stopwatch used for the opening of the CBS television program 60 Minutes was owned by director Arthur Bloom, filmed with the tick-tock soundtrack and used for the third episode of the program on October 22, 1968. Producer Don Hewitt’s idea for "60 minutes of reality" came to life when Bloom filmed his Minerva stopwatch. The concept worked well and has been used to this day.

The 6 quarts of blood in the human body circulates through the body three times every minute. In one day, the blood travels a total ~12,000 miles – that’s nearly half the circumference of Earth.

The 1980 REO Speedwagon hit tune Take It On The Run was originally titled Don't Let Me Down, but after the line "You’re under the gun so you take it on the run" was added, it was almost a no-brainer as to retitling the song.

Bonus FOTD: The official REO video of Take It On The Run was originally scheduled to be included in the very first hour of MTV's debut in August of 1981. However, a technical glitch occurred about 10 seconds into the airing of the video, cutting it off, and it was not re-aired until a much later segment.

The name "Appalachian" was first applied to the mountains and areas now known by that name by Spanish map makers in the 1540s, from the reports of explorer Hernando deSoto's expedition to the new world. DeSoto's crew picked up the name from the Native Americans in the area.

OMG, that's a name I have not heard for decades. I'm not a CW fan, but I distinctly remember my parents (who were not really CW fans either) having a 78 single of Red Foley and Alabama Jubilee when I was very young. (There I go admitting my real age again, as in admitting to remember 78 singles.)

Dame Vera Lynn has passed at age 103. Famous for many songs, the I one that I always remember was "We'll Meet Again" at the end of Dr. Strangelove when all the A-bombs start going off.

The Polaroid Corporation is best known for instant cameras and film, but its earlier claim to (highly classified at the time) fame was the Vectograph, which used polarizing filters to reveal camouflaged enemy activity from aerial photographs in WW II. The lead developer on the Vectograph project was Joseph Mahler, first cousin of composer Gustav Mahler.

    Talk about product placement...
In every scene of Fight Club, there is a Starbucks coffee cup.

Not every scene, but Game Of Thrones is famous for that. Unintentional in GOT’s case.
