    My Trip Report

Was out for my usual 4-mile walk this morning and this song came across. I LOVE this song. I had this played at my DH's (RIP ) funeral two years ago (almost exactly, in fact). At the moment the song came on, my heart skipped a beat as it usually does when this comes on unexpectedly and I felt DH was shining down on me, giving me his blessing on the decision to take this trip. I actually played it twice on my walk this morning and somehow kept my composure, which normally this would bring me to tears:cry: as it always does.

This is Jordan's Smith's version as winner of The Voice in 2015.

With that being said, just a bit of a background: On March 6th of this year I RETIRED :lock:. One week later, on Friday, the 13th  of March I hopped aboard a plane and headed to the promised land for what was supposed to be a 6-night stay, just as this whole COVID thing was gaining momentum. The first 3 nights was at the Orleans and the last 3 were to be at The D. Long story short, I cut my trip short and came home after 3 nights. First night there at about 1 a.m., I thought "WTF am I doing here?". I thought, "well....I am not going to totally waste this trip" even though I was just a little on edge and stuck it out for the 3 nights. So, home I went after my Orleans stay. Saddened, but knew it was probably the 'right' thing to do.. As it turned out, YES, it was the right thing to do as LV closed their doors the day after I got home.

So, I never got to fully scratch that Vegas itch. So earlier this week, I decided to 'JUST DO IT' and booked my trip for next week. The next day, I changed my trip from a 4-night to a full week. Yeah, I'm just a crazy bitch like that!!! :headbang:. And, I'm flipping tired of being at home, although one of our locals opened and the out-laws and I did a day trip so at least I got a 'taste' of the casino once again. Hellooooooo......

Details: Flying Allegiant. I had a credit from the last trip. Hotel: Staying 4 nights at The D and then moving over to The Orleans for 3 nights. Both hotels have their pools open, but with limited capacity I'm sure. Plans: Drink, gamble, repeat. :drunk: Drink, gamble, :woohoo: maybe eat :feedme:, and repeat, because, well, there is not much else to do..LOL. I am primarily a slot player with occasional BJ thrown in. I am not sure I will like the limited #'s allowed at the tables, so we shall see.

I plan to take my tablet and if I can get decent enough wifi I'll keep ya posted. I usually have issues when at The Orleans, but might have to scrape up and pay for decent wifi. WTH, the room is free anyway. According to The Orleans website, Big Al's is not yet opened, so that bums me out. Oh, and another thing, I have never been to LV during this time of year. I am more of an April/December tripper, so this shall be a new experience. o_O Let's see if I can tolerate some Vegas heat!!! :ssst:

As we get closer, mods, can you then move this to Trip Report section??

Loved that season he won. His 'Chandelier' audition was just superb!

Super jealous, as I was supposeds to be flying next Friday.

Have a great trip, and hope the slots are kind :)

That's a bummer. Love their Jambalaya. I always make a trip to The Orleans to play a few races and go to Al's—and maybe a movie. Hopefully it will be open in August. Also, congratulations on your retirement. Vegas was the first place I went after I retired. So have a great trip and I know we all look forward to your trip report.

Actually, a beautiful prayer. If Cohen wrote it a couple of thousand years ago it would be in the book of Psalms.

Man, I tell ya. I think I am getting a 'sign' from my guardian angel  . The following day after my initial post I was walking hear his sister's house and this song comes on"

This was another song that I had played at his funeral. Many couples say they have 'their song'. I didn't know we had 'a song'. He proclaimed it was this one. This time, after the previous day of maintaining my composure, the tear flowed freely, as it usually does with this song. Here I am walking down the highway, tears rolling down my face, but I kept on walking. Right after that song, a song that he had me put on the mp3, yeah, I'm old school, but I like my little SanDisc Sansa Clip Zip. It's small, had a clip, which makes it easy to use for exercise as well as in the plane, and has about 950 songs on it. I have it on shuffle and I just found it uncanny that 2 days in a row I hear 2 of the 3 songs (the other being a 'church' song) that we played at his funeral. I am taking it all as a sign. I know in my heart  that he is giving me his blessing on this trip. He loved to gamble and loved going to Vegas, as well as the local casinos.

Also today, I took my Harley out for about a 4-hour ride. :biker: Along the ride, I saw the name of road sign that was the same as his first name. About half hour later an eagle soared above me as I was driving. Every time I see an eagle (and he loved eagles) I always look up and say "Hi D...."

I'm getting excited and hoping all goes well. Just need to get through this weekend.

Today I hit up the local bank even though I don't bank there to inquire about $2 bills. I bank at a credit union and they didn't have any when I checked a couple of days ago. SCORE.... I won't pick up my bankroll until Monday right before the airport. I just don't like the idea of leaving $$$$ sitting around the house, especially if I am not here. Better safe than sorry.

I'll throw a couple pics out there for ya. I'll do this through Tapatalk. Have a great weekend all. I'm kinda bored, so I might get a little creative later....LOL

All checked in for my flight. Been a busy day getting house shit done, clothes washed and hung out on the clothesline. Yes, I still do that!!! All packed. Not sure if this is kind of a full flight it not as Allegiant stuck me in a F'n middle seat. WTF.

At this time tomorrow I should be all checked in and semi-unpacked. Probably hitting ABC store for some water, Absolut and mixers. I'll check in with ya'all tomorrow

That's important info. Can you take a pic of the heads of passengers from your seat so we see how packed the plane is?

I'll sure try to remember smerrian. In my mind, I am thinking they are not that full, but are just trying to get me to pay for a seat. I won't, unless I feel I have to. I think I am in row 24 so might be easy to see how many are on the plane I'll check in the morning again and if there are other seats, I just might move once we are boarded. A-holes!!!!I

Thank you carolineno. I am so ready for a vacation. So far, my other 3 vacations have been cancelled.

Thanks Marky147. Hoping that the flight is NOT full and that I can switch seats and take a whole row to myself. Wishful thinking . Hoping to bring back some funds as well. I have never blown my whole bankroll, so I am sure I will come home with some money.
