If a couple in their early 40s are visiting Vegas for the first time, and the cost of both rooms are virtually identical, which would you choose?

They enjoy dinner and some gambling. Location in the strip not an issue.

Encore not even close. I'm a Caesars guy and even their top tier rooms don't compare to Wynn/Encore. It's really in a class of its own. The location that far north is the only issue for me but I have no problem walking down either.

Encore. Like the other poster said, the best room at Caesars is still a small notch below the worst room at Wynn/Enore. The only exception being that the better Caesars Towers (Palace, Octavius, Augustus) have jetted tubs, which is not the case with the regular rooms at Wynn or Encore. Still, that isn't enough to make it superior. Would only choose a base room at Caesars if it was a completely comped stay or I needed tier credits.

I will give the counter argument on one contingency. If you can get a complementary upgrade from the standard palace room to the "Palace Studio Suite" which on the website is about 15$ more per night. I have never been rejected this upgrade at Diamond check in assuming because the price difference isn't that great from other rooms.

I will pick Caesars because I have stayed at Encore and love it there but the Jetted tubs at Caesars is perfect for either pairs or for the significant other to be pampered with bubbles and massages from the tub. Encore only has a deep soaking tub. The knockout punch is the location compared to Encore.

Also the Palace Studio has two bathrooms making privacy for him/her even better. This is my partners favorite room for this reason.

I assume if prices are similar that you can get the "Palace Studio Suite" and having been to both I would vouch that it is better than an Encore King which in itself is pretty much a studio suite with a partial wall.

Edit: I thought the knockout punch would be location but saw that it didn't matter so I would give the knockout punch in the food category since Caesars has many top restaurants and you have the luxury of going to the various restaurants near Caesars (Bellagio, Flamingo, Linq Promenade, Miracle Mile Opening Tomorrow, etc..)

    Ok one wrinkle to this

They can get 1 night free at Waldorf Astoria, so essentially pay just 2 nights, which makes that stay 140 dollars less than Encore. It would be a city view room there.

Sorry I don't understand. Are you implying Caesars is $140 less or are you now including that if they book at Waldorf Astoria that it would be $140 less to stay there compared to Encore.

If Waldorf Astoria is less then just stay there. It is a top hotel also. Won many awards when it was Mandarin Oriental.

Waldorf of the 3 is 140.00 less, as they have 1 night comped via their Honors points redemption should they choose.

I'd stay at Waldorf, and chuck the savings at a nice meal.

Always wanted to stay there, but never been able to justify the costs on dates I've been in town.

Friend that has stayed there when he had his family with him said it was superb.

Great location especially if staying by when Aria opens. Then it will be a more better area to stay even though it's decent now with Bellagio, Cosmo, and Miracle Mile shops opening.

He said it was just ideal. Nice and quiet, but close enough to get to plenty of poker rooms, and casinos.

Definitely going to try and get up to the bar next trip for some early evening cocktails, even if I once again won't get to tick staying off the list.

They are staying the end of July. Not sure when Aria is slated to reopen.

So your scenario now is Waldorf + $140 in savings vs Encore. It's close but I would pick Encore because it has more going on without leaving all the time.

I think MGM is aiming to open Aria by July 4th timeframe... but that depends on demand.

Agree with this. Wynncore being a full blown integrated resort with some of the best restaurants on the strip plus two casinos and the best base level rooms in Vegas is well worth the extra $140.

Also depends on when you're going. Not much at Caesars Palace is open at the moment for dining, whereas I think most of Wynn is.

Encore (in 1000 point font). :) And that's ESPECIALLY given that it is their first time though they will be spoiled after staying there. If they wanted to do so, they could have a magical trip and never leave Wynncore but if they wanted to venture out V/P is just next door and the center strip is a nice walk. If they are shoppers FSM is across the street. Even in the pandemic, they will have FIVE pools from which to choose if staying at Encore.
