    My Trip Report

    Disclaimer:
This is not a full report and there is no picture of the casino or of other players. My apologies.
Also due to time constraint and for safety reasons, I didn’t visit the other casinos nearby.

    Introduction:
I know Vegas has reopened and like many degenerates here I am following along all the trip reports.
I wish best luck to all of them and also wish I could be there with them.
But unfortunately there is no chance I can take a trip anytime soon.
    Flying is out of question.
In late January I already cancelled all my booked Vegas trips for Feb-June.

So when the opportunity arose, I took a 5-hour drive detour to pass by our “local”.
The casinos there already reopened since May 18. But I haven’t been brave enough to pay a visit.
For this trip/detour I didn’t plan to play much, I just withdraw $600 from an ATM on my way.

    Observations:
    parking lot: mostly empty.
entrance: out of 4-5 entrances, only one is designated as new entrance, others are exit only.
A rope is set-up and with marks on the floor for social-distancing in case people are lining up to get in.
For me, I didn’t see any other guest, so no line no waiting.
Security guard at entrance checks your forehead temperature.
If you ask, they will provide you a mask. I didn’t ask as I already had my own one.
Inside the casino, not much different from before when I visited in Jan.
excep about 40%-50% of machines were turned off and with chairs also removed.
Dealers at tables were wearing masks.
Also noticed all self-serving drink stations were gone.
Other than that, I didn’t see any other measures related to COVID-19.
Number of players inside the casino were much less than usual,
I would say just 1/3 of the normal crowd.
I estimate 10% or less of players were wearing masks.

    My gambling:
I directly went to the video poker corner. Half of the machine were off, as expected.
I checked a couple of machine’s paytables, didn’t notice any change.
Sit at one, activated my weekly $40 freeplay (my usual amount, didn’t see any after COVID bump), quickly gone. Moved to next machine that was on, put in $100, and selected $1 TDB.
For 10 or so hands, nothing came up.
Suddenly, got this bad boy by holding 3 spades.
Took a picture, the time stamp is 1:46pm.
    royal_1.jpg
Waited more than 10 minutes for the slot attendant to appear.
She was wearing a mask. After getting the information for W2G( SSN, ID etc),
she reset my machine and went to get the money for me.
I sat down and continued to play.
I said to myself: now I should have more money, why not bump up to $2?
So I selected the $2 denom (only $1 and $2 on those machines), and DDB (9/6).
    Within 4 hands, boom.
Another bad boy, also in Spade, holding just 2.
Took another picture, the time stamp is 2:00pm.
    royal2.jpg
After a few minutes, the slot attendant came back with my money and W-2G,
and said “You got another one?”. I smiled and nodded “Yes!!”.
After I got my 2nd W2G, I continued playing, and putting in another $100 which was gone quickly as usual.
    Then I left.

Total $12000 winning, subtract (6% state tax withhold, tips I gave to the attendant, $200 I put into the machine), still up $11000. That money will go to my bankroll for future Vegas trips whenever that happen. Hopefully I can make one later this year.
Total time spent inside the casino less than 40 minutes.
Didn’t get any drink or food. In fact I didn’t see any cocktail waitress even though I believe some are still working there.

This is the second time in my life I got 2 single line royals within 1 session.
Last time was about 10 years ago, I got 2 literally back-to-back royals both at $1.
This time around, the two were 4 hands apart.

Wow. That is insane! Congrats, @JeJas !

Looks like you’re going to have a healthy bankroll for your next Vegas trip. Hope it can be sooner rather than later (for all of us).

Congrats on the nice wins. I've read you report a couple of times but can't find the name or location of the casino. Hoping to figure it out from the 6% state tax but can't. Where were you?

I'm pretty sure of the state, but not the casino.

And @JeJas, do you mean your nearest casino is 5 hours away each way, or 5 hours round trip? Either way that sucks. :( But when you can hit like that, the drive is definitely worth it! Congrats!

That's Louisiana and I am in the great state you should know.
I believe most of my trip reports are about Vegas, which I visited more often than my "local casinos" in Louisiana.

    5 hours round trip.
That's why I often prefer to flying to Vegas instead of driving to the local.
But now, flying is a no go for me.

    Thanks!
LOL, you didn't read in the other trip reports I mentioned that multiple times in Vegas I lost my entire trip bankroll
before I checked into the hotel room, or before I started eating or drinking anything after arrival,
or a whole 3-day trip with heavy play but not seeing a single quads.
Video poker is a beast I don't understand.
