The scenes on social media and tv make me feel schizo
    • The crowds are minimal
    • Some places are packed
    • Some have Plexiglas, some dont.
    • Some turned off every other machine, others didn't.
    • Some casinos seem to take screening and distancing seriously, some dont.
    • The media is celebrating reopening
    • Two minutes later, media is trying to scare us that protests and reopening crowds are going to cause second waves.

Disappointed in how lax things look at Cosmo. Doesn’t make sense to me they take your temp at the door but once inside it looks like business as usual. If all the casinos are allowing this lack of social distancing at tables and common areas, and folks are not wearing masks, Vegas travelers may be taking home an unwanted guest. Be careful all you VMB folks out there.:peace:

As @Sonya likes to say, "this is why we can't have nice things".

I'm blown away by that Twitter video. Cosmo's (among others) management team clearly isn't ready for prime time.

    Hopefully, adults will arrive soon.

I love Cosmopolitan. I have reservations in August. It's always young to me at 61 yo, but the Twitter vid looks like an even younger than usual crowd.

    And I can't help thinking

One big petri dish of humanity is not the experience I am looking for directly following the lockdowns. I didn't go through all of that for months just to say the hell with it now.

My next visit has to be to a hotel that is taking the health of their guests and staff seriously by gracefully, but aggressively, promoting appropriate behavior.

Yeah, this is a big disappointment. I had been encouraged that the strip properties were trying a bit harder than downtown the first day, but if you make your control methods suggested rather than mandatory then it’s not surprising that once crowds show up in decent numbers it falls apart. Especially given that the first ones out are more likely to be the risk takers anyway.

What’s crazy to me is that you still have people that feel it looks like things are too restrictive. If you plan on losing some portion of your possible audience it seems you would choose the portion more likely to keep your employees safe and keep the property/city out of the news. The revenue at half capacity with leisure travel now means so little compared to the future event/group business that’s most important for the long term health of the city. That could be lost if the reopening is mishandled and planners lose confidence in Vegas.

I know my local market has decided to look long term and know there’s enough people willing to deal with restrictions to at least reopen and get some staff back to work. Lots of talk about the restrictions being too much, but the limited capacity is going to be hit any way so why worry about those folks.

Looks like mostly young people at the Cosmo. I hope they consider quarantining or getting a test before they visit older parents or elderly grandparents in the next two weeks.

Why is everyone making Cosmo to be the bad guy???

Health and safety is your own responsibility....

While I mostly agree, the property has some responsibility in the matter.

I believe that there's rules that The Cosmopolitan needs to adhere to with respect to guidelines mandated by the Nevada Gaming Commission insofar as reopening. I may be mistaken but if they're not going to enforce those rules then I can't see how they're not the "bad guy".

I'm excited about going back to Vegas, but not to Cosmo anytime soon if they're going to be blasé about the current situation.

    Wrong. You are capable adults.

You decide what is safe in your bubble.

They check you in safely. After that their hands are tied.

its not about "the bad guy." It's about responsiblity, like you said. If this is what it looks like in there then it would be totally irresponsible to go. Maybe if they did things differentyl that assesment could change.

You’re absolutely correct that we’re all responsible for our own health. But this has nothing to do with that, IMO. It has everything to do with wanting Vegas (and the rest of the economy) to remain open.

What a hot mess...both literally and figuratively. Thanks for nothing Vegas. Won’t be seeing you again for a long, long time.

btw someone here reported that <21 on Fremont is ok if accompanied by an adult,
    sorry forgot who.

From what I'm seen posted I could prop bet you pay me a penny for everyone without a mask, I pay you a quarter for anyone with, and come out ahead on Fremont,
maybe not so much at some strip casinos that enforce masks at tables.

Being a downtown gal I felt the same way on seeing recent video of The D. Although our borders are closed and I couldn't visit if I wanted too, it doesn't give me any hope at all.

    Stay safe friends.

I’ve been deemed an essential service. We’ve worked all but a few confusing days. I’m as diligent today, as I have been since late January. I’ve had to isolate one person (precautionary) as a result. My guys are all early 20s ....so it hasn’t been easy. But we ALL understand what it takes to protect ourselves from contracting the virus. We don’t leave our safety at the mercy of others...

The pictures are ALL a Fantasy for me. There is no chance that I will be going for the next six months. I was there in late January when the virus was becoming a thing.

The biggest takeaway from all the pictures/videos is that people still don’t take this virus seriously enough....I agree....

My local is AC. I hope our experience here in NY/NJ with CV19 causes our governor to make these critical public health decisions differently from in NV. It is a PUBLIC health decision, not an individual decision on whether to spread an epidemic. Our Gov currently has the wearing of masks in all public accommodation mandatory by everyone, guests as well as workers. I expect this to continue when our casinos open.
