I don't know if this is the right part of the forum to post and I'm sorry if it isn't. My question is how are the early visitors getting to Vegas? Are most of you driving in or flying? I live in California and am debating to flying or driving despite the fact that driving is a pain in the ass.

Well me being a practical person other than personal preference I would say it depends on your view of recent events and how you feel in a mask. In your car it’s you and who ever you hang with and you drive in. That’s pretty much summing it up. In the flying tin can you share the air and wear a mask. It’s quicker and easier to fly time wise though.

If I lived in Cali, I'd probably drive, just to save the getting on/off planes and in/out of airports at the minute.

Are you worried about what happens when you're there and get a temperature and they force you to either quarantine or leave in your own car? or is that something that isn't worrying?

do you have the shelter-in-place order where you are? is the Airport going to give you the 3rd degree if you're not flying for essential work? I am genuinely curious... I have SWA tickets too, but I am debating driving instead.

I live in LA. By the time I get to the airport, get checked in, board the plane, fly to Vegas, get my baggage and get to the hotel, it will have taken roughly the same amount of time. Difference is instead of a peaceful and enjoyable trip through the desert, I have to deal with everyone's nonsense.

100+ trips to Vegas via car from CA, a handful flying; the vast majority from the Inland Empire, a lesser number from the Central Coast and now the Central Valley. I get the fly/drive divide seen here over the years but right now, with what's going on, if you're coming in from say Corona and not Crescent City then driving just seems to make all the sense.

I haven’t flown to Vegas but I have flown several times throughout the last couple of months and the airports haven’t really cared why I am flying. It is an essential reason (I work in aerospace and planes still need to be airworthy), but I can’t remember having to justify my reasons.

I'll reserve judgement for a few months to see how flying looks. I live in Seattle, so driving is a real commitment. I say no to flying today, but that could change.

I live in San Jose. Curfew has been lifted, and we are in Phase 2.5 (in phase 2 but transiting to Phase 3).

None of the things that you mentioned worry me. I'm not going to LV until July, which is a "world away".

If I were going to worried about anything, it would be my trip to lake Tahoe on June 19th, but I'm not worried about that either.

What I am definitely worried about is my August trip to Asia being canceled AGAIN! it was scheduled for April before all this nonsense (yes, I know that it's not nonsense, but that was the first word that came to mind) happened.

Also pending is my trip with my son to Europe in October

Flying non-stop from CLT on the 16th for $67 round-trip. I'm not too worried about it. Everyone will be wearing a mask and what not. I'm saving a spot in my liquor baggie for a hand sanitizer. I'll also probably wait to check in at the kiosk instead of using the mobile app like normal. My reasoning is I can check seats before printing them off to see if there are any empty rows.

I was just pondering this exact question. Flights out of the two airports nearest my home are currently rather expensive on weekends and completely unavailable midweek, but as you said, it's much more convenient than driving. However, driving there is probably less of a pain in the ass right now than it ever will be again due to reduced traffic. I'll probably drive.

The fact that most everyone has dumped parking fees says the casino companies are expecting a lot of people to drive.

TSA screening numbers are showing an incredible decline in the number of aircraft passengers. I had a chance to take a quick trip, and flights are crazy expensive, not to mention the risks of spending 4 hours in a little metal tube with a bunch of randos.

I live in NYC so driving is not an option unless I were to take a month off, but, for FWIW, if I lived within a few hours of Vegas, I would drive. Heck, I'm within 2 1/2 hours of AC and I'm thinking that IF I visit AC in July, I may rent a car to drive to and from AC for a weekend trip rather than take a Greyhound bus or Amtrak and NJ Transit to AC.

And I normally love flying and don't mind wearing masks. For my August trip I'll be flying.

I am flying from Florida on SWA. Very low price, I called they are booking at 65% capacity through June everyone who wants it gets an empty seat next to them. Mask required, can of water and snack for service--BYOB.

I think the whole point was about a Californian who can drive and whether he should drive. I think most realize a weekend jaunt from the East Coast requires a flight.
