That's a little OCD for me but I can see an upside to such an organizational tactic. We have an insane amount of spices and dried herbs.

Anthony Bourdain taught me to love food. Alton Brown taught me how to cook. These two are my favorites.

I really enjoy watching Top Chef now. As a kid, I remember watching Yan Can Cook on occasion, and some Julia Child.

As for Bobby Flay, I've mentioned before it's a love/hate relationship. I enjoy rooting for him to lose on the various competition shows he's on. But I've eaten at a few of his restaurants, including Mesa Grill for my high school graduation a few years after it opened, and I love his food. As much as I want to root against him, I've never had a bad meal from one of his places, even Bobby's Burger Palace.

Always enjoyed Ina and picked up a few keepers from her. The one thing I never could do was to make my backyard look like hers in the Hamptons.
BTW, for some interesting info google her to find out what she did before her shows and cookbooks along with her husband's vocation.

@hammie I loved the Italian Grandma. (I wish I had one.) :feedme: That lasagna made me so hungry!

In my old neighborhood one of my friends had a real live-in Italian Grandma, she was about 5' tall and had a thick accent, but she could understand English. We were invited to dinner a few times, and we always knew what was on the menu: Gnocchi with home made meatballs and sausage. My Dad called them belly bombs, but I liked them.

Paul Prudhomme. His shows and cookbooks taught me a lot. I like Kevin Belton as well.

This is what I'm talking about, 8 hours since publishing already a half a million views and great cooking advice. And the voice that can help you sleep as well for those into that asmr.

This is basically the same thing Alton did on his mac and cheese episode but he gives American Test Kitchens a nod.

Slightly off topic, but if I'm looking into methodology, Serious Eats is my favorite website - really useful for lots of things!

Another couple of my favs since I love Italian, would be Nick Stellino and Lidia Bastianich. Lidia's son was Mario Batali's partner for many years. I think Lidia had a chunk of the company too. Stellino is just a natural for tv. What I like about both is how simple the recipes are. None of this 14 of these and 9 of those. Five or six ingredients and you've got it.

The biggest problem with Flay is he's successful. In the beginning you have Emeril etc. , but he was basically the breakout star. Add in that that he's decent looking, good on camera, technically solid and you have someone to hate! He's a victim of his own success.

Agree - I didn’t like him before but now I do. He has a charm to him so he kinda does grow on you. I sat ~ 2 seats down from him at L’Atelier in MGM. Unfortunately I didn’t like him at that time.

I've been watching cooking shows since I was a kid. LOL I think Julia Child got me hooked on cooking shows. Jacques Pépin is another favorite from those early days. I also remember watching the Galloping Gourmet (Graham Kerr), Yan Can Cook (Martin Yan), Justin Wilson, as well as several others from those early days.

More recently, some of my favorite chefs are Morimoto, Ming Tsai, Bobby Flay, Gordon Ramsey, Lidia Bastianich, just to name a few. Gordon Ramsey also has a new show on National Geographic that is really good... Gordon Ramsey: Uncharted

Can't forget about the Great Food Truck Race. I like that show as well because of the travel involved. Loved it when they went down the East coast and all the way to Key West. One of my destinations to visit.

Then the last season was between CA and Vegas. Love seeing the places they visit.
