What are Pool Clubs?

I must apologize for my naivete regarding all things Las Vegas and I hope this is an okay thread to ask this question. What is a Pool Club or Beach Club? It looks as if you can rent cabanas and such at some of the hotels and hang by the pool.

My question is this. Are any of these places suitable for, ahem, "mature couples" who may be a few years past top notch beach bod shape?

I think it would be fun to have a day hanging out in a cabana but don't want to feel out of place. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

Generally, they are clubs set poolside. Some people rent cabanas, others just pay for entry. You can usually expect live DJs or music and more of a party atmosphere than the standard pool

My 71 yr old mother, myself, & my spouse (who are all not "swimsuit" models) rent a cabana at Flamingo day club all the time. No worries- just be yourself

 

Other VMBers can give you the details as I'm not a pool party person, but, the gist is that they are large outdoor venues with pools, lots of small and VERY large cabanas (some with their own private mini pools), DJs, etc. with sometimes 1000+ people at the "beach" or "pool" party. Encore Beach Club, located in Encore, is one such venue and I understand the best in town. If you ever drive down Las Vegas Boulevard as you are approaching the Encore entrance, you'll see an entire block of a cream and red building facade. I just recently realized that's that's basically the back of a slew of cabanas located in the Encore Beach Club.

Given the CDC guidelines, hundreds or thousands of people at a pool party are out so Encore Beach Club, and I assume similar places at other casino resorts, are turning the venues into regular resort pools, meaning that folks like you and me that normally wouldn't be into a big pool party scene can use them and just chill. I already know that the Encore Beach Club is going to be a centerpiece of my upcoming August vacation though I've never before set foot in there. Instead, many times I've seen HUNDREDS of people line up during the day for the day pool party or at night for the "Night Swim".

Hanging out at your hotel pool is fun, especially if you have a cabana. Nice and relaxing.
I've never went to a beach club type place.
Maybe this is why.

Edit: this isn’t about the “beach or day clubs” but if you’re looking for info on a cabana For just a pool day. The regular pools at most every strip resort have cabanas you can rent as well, they range in price from relatively affordable to much more than the price of a room for the night. It is very nice to have one to relax by the pool, and have a place to get out of the sun that is somewhat private. They usually have lounge chairs out front and a sofa or seating with a small table inside with TV and a little fridge and servers come by regularly so you can order food or drinks. Here’s some pictures of a cabana from Bellagio. Some cabanas are just a straight rental rate and then you add on any food/beverage you order and some have F&B credit included in the rate. It is a very relaxing way to spend an entire day at the pool for a small group or a couple. If you are the type to only hang around the pool for an hour or two it’s probably not worth it. The high rollers get these comped.

Great photos and agree 100% about the regular resort pools having cabanas you can rent. At the Encore resort pool, in addition to a few cabanas -- I think there are just four -- you can also rent lounge chairs that have a bit more space than the regular chairs but they also have a big umbrella over them and you get basic things like a big bucket of ice with bottled water and more attentive service from a cabana person. I've rented a cabana at Encore and at the Wynn Tower Suites pool, both comped at the back end though I was prepared to pay for them as I thought it was worth it.

For my mega April trip that was cancelled, however, my mother asked if I could just do the lounge chairs and umbrella, which I think was more like $50 or $75/day rather than 4 to 6 or 8 times that much for a cabana. She enjoyed more being right next to the pool and getting a breeze being more in the open but still having shade with the umbrella. I think that's my preference too so that's another option at many places.

The cabanas though I believe at many of the "pool" or "beach" clubs are more elaborate, at least that is the case (based on the photos I've scene online) at the Encore Beach Club, relative to the cabanas at the regular Encore and Wynn pools. It'll be interesting to see what the pricing will be for EBC cabanas. I would completely understand if they were more expensive as they are definitely bigger and look even more luxurious. One key thing to keep in mind is that some groups would shell out 5k to 10k+ to rent one of those for ONE DAY or ONE EVENING, though it would include bottle service and some food, I believe. So, that explains in part why they are more elaborate than the regular though very nice cabanas at the Encore and Wynn resort pools.

Thanks for the offer! Will definitely take you up on it once I figure out to what extent I may be more solo, have one guest or a few people with me for a few days. I know Wynncore so well, EXCEPT re: EBC and like I said, I'm looking forward to it being a central part of my stay.

One basic question. What's the difference between a bungalow and the cabana? I assume the former is bigger? Other differences in terms of service or amenities?

Thank you for the great information and I apologize if my question seemed a little vague. I have not been in Vegas since 1984 and I know things have changed dramatically since then. Your post helped me to understand a bit more what is meant by Beach Club and I don't think that is for me. I would be interested in a Cabana rental someplace a bit more relaxing so I will check that out.

 

LOL. Hanging by the pool and relaxing is exactly what I am looking for. When we were in Maui last fall I rented a poolside Cabana for a week of our stay and for the most part enjoyed it (although I had to kick squatters out a couple of times). Staying at Polo Towers. Checking in this coming Saturday and I am so excited!

so the cabanas are on the first and second floors and there is only 4 bungalows, 2 on each floor, with the bottom two being the better bigger ones.
They come with a private bathroom,shower, and the bottom two have their own private pool. I’d only get the bottom bungalows and then cabanas. The pool couch is a very nice option as well. The bungalows have direct access to the gaming pavilion as well, assuming that’s open.
