Going for the first time! Staying at the lodge, booked a king premium with a balcony. Hopefully enjoy morning coffee on the balcony. Wife went 5 years ago on a girls trip, she enjoyed it. Several casinos, most are smaller which is fine by me. Leaving June 4-7, appears many restaurants are yet to re-open but hopefully a few more by then.
Think it will be similar to Cripple Creek and Central City which both are fun with smaller joints. Taking the golf clubs for sometime away from all gambling all the time.

I thought only Silverado, Tin Lizzy, and Cadillac Jacks had craps. What one am I missing?

I love Deadwood! Definitely not Vegas but has a cool vibe. Learned how to play craps at the Tin Lizzie. Very fond memories there.

Deadwood Mountain Grand added a table 2-3 years ago. As of Saturday it was still closed.

As I mentioned in another thread, Cadillac Jack's was opened with restrictions, though it was not manned on Saturday despite the casino looking pretty busy with other table games running.

The Silverado table, rather than being just closed, had been removed.

Two Septembers ago (2018) we were on a camping road trip and were driving into Deadwood from the north on U.S. 85. A short distance before entering town we came across The Lodge at Deadwood. Very nice casino/hotel. It was cold and rainy, so we stopped in mid-afternoon for a bite and to warm up. Ended up playing some video poker and winning enough for a room in town that night. Their casino is larger than any I saw downtown, tables and machines. Also had full-pay video poker, even at the nickel level! But it had a feature I didn't like and couldn't turn off. It showed the best hold for each hand as dealt. I've heard sometimes these games only show "good" holds, but I know the strategies for the games we play pretty well. I looked hard for errors and saw none. It really took the fun out of the game. Might as well have played slots. Anyway, very nice place, large sports bar, best casino we saw in Deadwood.

So who has live craps currently? Surprised that a place would just remove a table.

Cadillac Jack's, though as I wrote above they didn't man the table on Saturday when I was there 5-6pm.

A local regular I always see at the table (played with him on Friday) said Tin Lizzie was operating a table, but I didn't see that for myself.

I played at Tin Lizzie last Thursday and Fri-Sun from at least 2pm onwards (when I went in there) it was open as well. I swear the same people were at 1 side of the table every time I walked past it. Drink service and crew were amazing. With just 4 to a table (2 to a side), it's tough to get a spot but there is a bar right next to the table you can hang out at while waiting, no bartop machines though. Jack's apparently had a large number of dealers recently quit so they are having a tough time staffing the tables. Was very busy everywhere this past weekend

Hi posted this elsewhere before finding this thread. Based on the videos I've seen pre and post Corona, the casinos seem dead. Anyone else who has been there agree? Or am I just not seeing places at the right time. We're booked to stay 3 nights starting June 16, hopefully pandemic doesn't change this. Opinions, insight, and suggestions appreciated.

Do any of the casinos comp hotel rooms in Deadwood?

We went up there for Memorial weekend. It was our first time and I found it similar to our locals (Black Hawk/Central City). We enjoyed it since we finally got our gambling fix and out of the house. I think you will enjoy it.

I was there over Memorial weekend as well. Cadillac Jack's was busy that Saturday night, though they didn't man the craps table. It may be a bit sleepy midweek.

Except for Cadillac Jack's, the three houses (used to be four) that have craps tables have them open only Fri. - Sun. Jack's may have it open Thursdays.

Edit: To Murphy's point, I have no idea on comped rooms, I'm a camper. They comp drinks at the tables.

going to deadwood in August 4-8. Rooms are really expensive.I believe Sturgis is happening. Any suggestions on rooms or what Deadwood will be like during this time?

We were there Thursday the 4th thru Sunday. We stayed at the Lodge which is maybe a mile from town. Really nice casino, large layout. However it was pretty dead all the nights except for Saturday. Still, maybe only 1/2 full at best.
The Silverado downtown was packed Saturday night! Social distancing was not being observed what-so-ever. Was pretty much observed every where else.
Not all restrurants are open you but appears most are.
Great town, we had a very good time.
