That's a shame. Always sad news when a business shuts down & people lose jobs...

So sad. I have happy memories there with my parents. They liked the old school atmosphere.

Too bad. Stayed there a few times. Hopefully things will come back eventually.

The article has been updated to say "indefinitely" and not "permanent" closure.

I've never stayed there and heard the rooms could use a refresh. But the casino was decent with some fun older slots you don't see around anymore. And the brewery restaurant had really good food and a nice view of the river.

I have only stayed in Laughlin once, though I have done many day trips, and it was at the Colorado Belle, probably around ‘99. We’d intended to head back to Vegas to the Rio but had some good luck and a few drinks so decided to get a room. I remember we paid $49 and were pleasantly surprised when we got to our room and found we’d been given a very nice suite.

Looks like Aquarius and Edgewater will still re-open.

Despite being a hardcore lover of both Harrah's and Riverside, and only having been inside the Colorado Belle one time, I have to say this is sorely disappointing to hear :(

I loved the style of the place and the fact that it had such a tangible theme, compared to resorts that have become de-themed or never had a theme to begin with. It was definitely up there on my list of Laughlin resorts to stay at, especially since they have balcony rooms, and I love the idea of being able to have my morning coffee while looking out at the river and mountains and breathing in the desert air.

I'm glad that it's at least only an "indefinite" closure so as to provide a glimmer of of hope that it could re-open. If it does, it will be tip-top on my list for my next trip to Laughlin.

It’s a unique property in the middle of the Laughlin Strip. I believe it will re-open in 2021 or 2022 after a little remodel.

I got an email from them. sounds like the closing is permanent. unless someone else buys it which seems unlikely in this economy. Sad for the employees and will leave a gaping hole in the middle of town.

They said they aren’t planning on selling it. Sounds like they want to wait and see how the market recovers in the next year or two.

not sure what you saw but this is from email I got:
Quote: As you are aware, The COVID-19 pandemic has caused great strain across the nation, in our community and in our everyday lives. With the anticipation of reduced business levels, we have made the difficult decision not to reopen Colorado Belle Hotel Casino Resort. Please know that this decision was not made lightly. “The Belle”, along with the hundreds of dedicated team members, provided wonderful memories to countless visitors over the years and played an important part in delivering the unique Laughlin experience. unquote

    sounds pretty final to me
We weren't very happy with these people from the time they bought Aquarius, Colorado Belle and edgewater. They started by treating the Belle and Edgewater customers same as Aquarius, while not updating or even cleaning up the less attractive properties. got rid of things like meal offers. now they're dumping the belle leaving a big hole in the middle of town, which seems to me to be detrimental to all including themselves.

    https://www.reviewjournal.com/business/casinos-gaming/laughlins-iconic-colorado-belle-to-stay-closed-indefinitely-400-to-lose-jobs-2030754/

The Colorado Belle, an iconic hotel-casino on the Colorado River in Laughlin, will stay closed for the foreseeable future and lay off its 400 workers.

...Protell said Golden doesn’t intend to sell the Colorado Belle at present.

“Future plans for the Colorado Belle will be highly dependent on the business volume at our other Laughlin properties and the Laughlin market in general,” he said.

so they're leaving the possibility of reopening out there. I still think they are hurting the whole town and therefore their other two casinos by doing this. It will give people (esp new people) the impression that the town is dying. It's right in the middle of everything.
    thanks for the info

If somebody has been going to Laughlin, it’s been evident that Laughlin has seen its peak, and that was years ago. Even before the coronavirus, most if not all properties were playing to less than capacity. The Aquarius remodeled their casino, but the hotel hasn’t been touched in years, and the same can be said for most of the remaining properties. Over the years the Southern California and Phoenix markets that used to be attracted to Laughlin for the drive in crowd aged out or other casinos without as far a drive opened. There aren’t nearly as many charters flying into the airport across the river either. The Riverside and Harrahs used to have more charters in the past, and the fact that there is no scheduled airline service to IFP speaks volumes, even with federal subsidies available.

It’s true that no one is going to build a new billion dollar casino in Laughlin anytime soon. However the market still has a few avenues to relevancy. One being, a river getaway for the growing 2 million+ Vegas population. It was pretty busy last summer when I visited.

Owning 3 Casinos in Laughlin. That just don't make any fucking sense.
