    My Trip Report

Frequent lurker here. I don't have any pictures as I'm doing this as an afterthought. Felt pretty guilty about not contributing when people are so starved for information. Had a few days off and got an invite to go to Cherokee so I thought why the hell not.

I'll try to describe well as it was actually sort of interesting. I found their precautions to be a little heavy-handed, but they were consistent. I honestly didn't hate it.
At arrival they funnel all of the cars through a central checkpoint. They check your invitations as they are limiting to 30% capacity. Check your temp and ask a few questions. They informed us of mask policy and offer you one if you don't have a mask. Hotel guests park in one designated garage which was less than a third full.

Hotel checkin was routine. Rooms were pristine. Very, very clean. Even a red sticker on the door about it being sanitized etc.

Masks were to be worn everywhere. But BONUS .... No smoking. I'm a medical professional, so masks don't bother me. I'll take that trade any day. I'd wear wet underwear and skinny jeans not to have to smell smoke. So this one was easy.

Day 1 - arrived at about 6 pm. After checkin, decided to play some craps. Tables are limited to 6 players. B.ig red stickers on the floor to keep you on your spot. No lookie loos allowed. When people came around to watch the pit critters ran them off. No smoking allowed. Dealers were a little rusty which is understandable, but with only six players it was a very smooth game. Absolutely crazy cold dice and I was down about $1000, but then I hit the All tall/small/all on my roll. Even for the night baby!!! Win in my book. Played some slots which seemed even tighter than usual (and the cherokee slots seem tighter than the vegas strip baseline). Donated a couple hundred to the Cherokee nation. Splashed around at blackjack and went to bed. Drink service was fine.

There is one bar open. The central VP bar for those that know the place. Laurel Lounge is closed which sucked, because the bartenders in the laurel lounge are great and drinks are half price.

All restaurants are open but only for takeout.

After a dozen of so mixed drinks, wife wanted some pizza after midnight. They were closed. Bought a box of donuts. She informed me donuts weren't pizza. I voiced my understanding. Then we had some donuts. All was well with the world.

Day 2 - A tad hungover. Not terrible, but I wasn't fresh as a daisy. Ordered room service. $40 for a couple of breakfast sandwiches and hashbrowns with coffee and a coke. Not gouging, but not cheap. Wife slept in and I played slots and craps, dropped $2000. She got up and we played some blackjack. Broke even.

A note about blackjack. Tables limited to 3 players. No pitch games. Can't touch cards. Same with Carny games. Three card poker, let it ride and MS stud all dealt face up.

Ordered Ruth's Chris takeout with diamond dinner. Food was ok, but, frankly, wouldn't have been worth paying full price. So much is lost when you take away the restaurant experience from an otherwise good meal.

Went back to the casino and played some slots/craps and then walked my bride to the room. I stayed up and played until 4 am. Bounced around from ultimate x to craps to video poker. Hit several quads and made back some of my earlier losses. Craps never seemed to improve. Lots of close rolls, but none that ever crested the hill... so to speak.

All in all felt pretty safe. I didn't mind the mask/precautions at all. The employees were glad to see players in the casino. All in all, it was a good time.

Last note. For those of you with a Tesla. No chargers on this property. But in the garage attached to the casino there are some easy to find outlets. Full charge over 48 hours even on almost empty.

Next trip --- pictures and live reporting.

Thanks for the trip report. May have to call a host to see if offers are available. Were the Carny games limited to 3 people per table as well? I wasn't clear if your reference was just to the cards being face up.
Is entry to the casino limited to hotel guests or can ********* like me walk in off the street?

Yes all table games were 3 seated. Seemed to be enough available tables, except for MS Stud where the same 3 geezers sat for what seemed like 2 solid days. I think you have to be invited or make a "reservation" to play. Definitely call your host. Poker Room is closed by the way.

Poker faces a long road back. It is not as dead as buffets, but it will definitely be at the end of recovery line at most casinos. A few spots which are more poker focused are using plexiglass between each seat, but there is not much of a way to play with all cards exposed if that is what is needed.

Thanks for your report! Nice job!

We are heading there Monday and as of this evening Ruth's Chris is open for dine in, however reservations are required. Thankfully, I was able to make a reservation.

Also, sorry to disappoint, however, based on an email we received, smoking is now permitted in the rotunda.

Really hope it's back in the fall. My annual pilgrimage is for the WSOP circuit events in Cherokee. Amazing cash games (5/5 PLO plays like 5/10 and the 2/5 nl plays like 5/10) and tournament action is soft. Won a $400 buy in there a couple of years ago for a very nice tournament cash and one of those silly rings.

Thanks for the report! I've been dieing to hear some real world experience. Great job! I can tell you I wouldn't hate playing miss stud face up! But just 3 to a table is not as fun.

Thank you for your report. I have one night booked each month June-Nov. I like their rooms and the pool is great. Never do well on the slots there but I always hope! On these upcoming trips, I plan to get in a hike each visit. I would love to drive up to Clingman's Dome but unsure how swirly the road is.

What were the minimums at the craps tables? I’ve seen speculation that $5 and $10 minimums won’t be available anytime soon.

I don’t think they had Uth or hcf. Didn’t see pai gow either. Saw 3 card poker, let it ride and ms stud.
