So I was able to book 5 nights Caesars Octavius room comped.
Allegiant has $29 each way--we will have to have share 1 suitcase, $30 each way--so $88 RT each w/ 1 bag.
DH starts golf league that week so he is out.
DM wants to go--we figure walk in AM, hit the pool.
DH & I are looking to move there next summer so we may rent a car & go looking at neighborhoods.
I haven't booked air until I hear if things are REALLY opening June 1 (and then I better move quick!)...

That's true! It's a shame you can't cancel airline reservations more easily when you're 72 hours out like a hotel.

I'm anxious to hear from the Governor. Hopefully this Friday, but there's no way to know.

Sounds like you've got a good plan. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks. Allegiant has much better change/cancellation policy right now than usual (usually u get nothing--unless you pay for trip flex). They are allowing one change free of charge or if you cancel you get a credit for 2 years. We did book end of July for $71RT knowing we could change or cancel.

I mentioned to Mom that maybe we should try to limit gambling (especially if crowded) & she informed me that she would be careful but that there WOULD be gambling! She loves slots (I hate them) & we both love video poker, but guess we won't sit right next to each other!

I'm guessing not since pretty much all the casinos seem to have cancelled Memorial Day weekend bookings...

Plus I'm guessing there will be a lag time from the time that Phase 2 is announced & when it actually occurs...

Gotta love mom. She knows what she likes. :) Just know your risks. They seem to be saying that the highest risk of infection is being near someone shedding the virus at a higher load, indoors and over time. If you wear your masks, take some breaks, and get outside a little, you'll be on the good end of the curve, IMO.

Source for this? I know a number of people are talking about casinos opening on June 1st. Even one of "those people" who yesterday was sure Venetian was opening on June 1, has walked that back.

I hate to be Debbie Downer, but we are waiting for Governor Sisolak to make his announcement about Phase Two "before Memorial Day". But also, remember that in April he said casinos would be part of Phases Three or Four. So patience is needed until we see for sure.

DH & I were just discussing if flying to Vegas is a good idea.
I basically said the same as you just did--we could drive around & see neighborhoods/homes, hit the pool, find things to do that we don't usually do, minimizing indoors for long periods (and masks ALWAYS indoors; clorox wipes & sanitizer like crazy).

I mentioned to DM (75--very active) that I'd never forgive myself if something happened, tho. She said she's gotta die sometime & she's annoyed that this pandemic is cutting into the time she has left! (she was an RN & takes social distancing seriously).
We were supposed to be cruising the Med next week w/ DD for her college graduation so Mom is a bit ticked!
We all love to travel so THIS IS TOUGH!

I know. I'm the high risk person in our family. I love travel and had a bunch of it booked for this year, including four casino trips (One Canada, three Vegas). Unfortunately everything is cancelled and I've decided it's better for me to just not think about that too much.

Our family's vulnerabilities preclude travel for some time. If one gets it, so do the others, and our loving pets are orphaned. Can't have that.
I miss traveling so very much.

I’m lucky enough ( if you want to call it that) that I do not have regular contact with elderly family members or others, so I cannot wait to come and partake.
