Will you ever eat in a Vegas Buffet again?

In previous years, buffets were my main source of nourishment for breakfast and dinner—virtually all were comped but I did not mind paying occasionally. Now, I’m not a huge buffet consumer but would hate to see them go by the wayside as they are part of the Vegas experience in that even though one may not care for a buffet and the quality varies, I find it comforting to know that if I want to partake in a buffet, it will be there. As a side note, I did take in at least one “to go” Cosmo buffet during the past few years—great value and can’t beat dining on the balcony at sunset!

    Definitely yes.
At $50 per guest (many places even charging more), the buffets can afford to hire 10 servers per station
to serve the food instead of letting guests touch the utensils.
Considering many people will lose their jobs due to reduced visitation, it's not a bad thing to do in Vegas.
Of course we don't know what the greedy casino companies are thinking.

I prefer breakfast buffets. So if it is cafeteria style then sure why not. I'm sure they can figure something out. They put a man on the moon after all

I want to try the Wynn one, so will get 2 from the app next time I'm there and someone is in town with me. That way they can get the food while I stay out of the way at the table.

It's avoiding me being a PITA for everyone else, more than the fact it would be a pain for me. I could just drive around with the plate in my other hand and use one of my crutches to ensure social distancing :p

Only reason I don't pick up the free Aria ones every trip, is I can't imagine how annoying I would be to everyone else driving around inside a buffet, lol.

I would happily go to a Vegas buffet tomorrow.
But I also signed up as a potential volunteer for human challenge vaccine trials. I kind of wish I would just get the virus already and be done with it.

I must be in the minority again, but I love buffets and they've usually been very easy to get comped. I really like not having to wait; and with few exceptions, there are always items worth going back for. In fact, if some selections were served by a stuffy waiter in a fancy setting, they could charge 3 or 4 times the price and people would rave about it! Nonetheless, I seldom have more than one buffet per trip just to avoid the excess calories. It may take years, but by the time things return to normal, buffets probably will also.

I used to go with my MIL to the local casino buffets all the time. She always took a pass down the buffet line with her walker, piling things on the seat as she went along. Her hands were really arthritic so it took her a while to dish things ups. I can't say if they thought it, but I never saw anyone act like they were put out. After that initial trip down the buffet line I was her legs for refills. People that would be annoyed because someone takes longer or needs help aren't who we need to be concerned about. However, that person who picks through the pan of Chinese stir fry for five minutes taking all the shrimp deserves any disrespect they get. AND just in case anyone has ever eaten with me...I NEVER do that with people waiting behind me. ;)

I certainly would, just because I like the freedom of having a variety of foods to choose from. I only really favor the higher quality ones anyway (Aria, Bacchanal, Bellagio, Wicked Spoon & Wynn), so I'm confident that these resorts will figure out a way to make it work.

I love buffets. I hope they are still around when this crisis winds down. Some improvements I don't mind they do are individual portions on separate plates. Hot soups and liquid type foods can be served upon request. Crab legs can be served instead of help yourself.

Buffets are part of the fun experience of Vegas. The open area experience with people enjoying their foods in a family style rustic atmosphere promotes positive social attributes and goodwill to fellow humans. Buffets, 24 hr. cafes, and Steakhouses are how I envisioned my Vegas.

I hope buffets are still a part of Vegas. I'm sure things will be figured out and some new normals will be in place. Maybe this virus will teach some people to stop being dirty filthy pigs.

I only liked a breakfast buffet, never for dinner or lunch no matter where I stayed. I will miss those but not enough for me to get upset about.

It would fill me up just about all day until dinner time - maybe with a light snack in between.

I once ate at Bellagio buffet 5 straight days. Was getting some real VIP treatment by the hostesses by the last day!

I LOVE buffets. We used to always do Bellagio on Sunday mornings before flying out. Then switched to Aria the last couple years. Eat almost all meals at buffet on cruises.

Sadly, I've likely eaten my last buffet. Not at all a germaphobe, but the way a buffet operates is way too obvious risk. I've also probably gone on my last cruise, and any Vegas return is years away.

"yeller", referring to the colour yellow from movie Vegas Vacation buffet scene. Mudhen posted a video above.

Hey, this film was ahead of its time, and I didn't really think of it, but the guy behind the steam line is dishing it out for them.

Yes....as long as they offer individual servings & disposable gloves for diners who insist on touching items they don't take....

Thanks, I guess I didn't pay much attention to that. Chevy Chase can be funny, but I tune out when it goes to stupid.

I could probably do it using one crutch and hold the plate in my other hand, but with my spasticity I'm about -1000 to be coating someone in whatever my plate is filled with :evillaugh:
