    My Trip Report

We drove to Vegas on Tuesday morning to meet some of my wife’s cousins whom we had arranged free rooms for. Anyway, they called and said they would not be in town until about midnight and could we possibly get the two more rooms for their son and a couple of his friends.
I went over to the Vegas Club and pulled a few strings and got them casino rates for the two rooms for that night plus two more nights. Anyway, after about an hour, we get a call and they told us that they couldn’t get there until Wednesday night and could we change the dates. Damn, this is National Broadcasters Convention week and the town is sold out. Now I go and sweet talk the check in girl plus slip her a ten spot and she grudgingly changes the dates. Two hours later, the cell phone rings and the son apologizes and informs me that they can’t make it at all. Holy shiat, I got to go to the check in girl again and cancel the rooms. She was pissed and I don’t blame her. She had bent a few rules to help me out and now for naught. I gave her another ten spot.

Now, my wife’s cousins arrive about 11:00 pm and they have six kids with them all staying in one room. I am hoping that no one complains because the room is in our name at Main Street Station and is comped. Needless to say, I am upset because of all the changes they requested and then I find out that they are Mormons and don’t drink or gamble. It was the first time that I had met them and they are very nice people, BUT, I don’t think I will hook them up again.

We stayed at the Plaza and my luck wasn’t any good until Thursday, the day before we drove home. I was playing a .25 DDB VP machine and kept getting four of a kinds. Built up to $350 of credits and then hit a royal for another $1,000. Cashed out for $1,362 and gave Jennifer $300.

The Plaza itself is about the same as my last stay there which was a cut below what it has been in the past and the employees don’t seem happy at all. Too bad because I have been going there for over 30 years and it has been my Vegas home.

Their new comp policy is that comps are to be used within a few days of your stay. Well we went to the booth and got two $20 vouchers for the gift shop and cashed in our cash back credits plus some food comps for the small buffet and the Diner. The buffet was pretty good this time and the Diner was good also but who can screw up steak and eggs.

The drive home normally takes about 3:45 minutes, but, because of three truck accidents it took us about 7 hours.

Had fun, came home a small winner, what the hell!

glad you were a winner, sounds like jennifer is feeling at least good enough to make the trip?

since your wifes cousins dont gamble, i guess they would have no appreciation for the hoops you jumped through to get them the rooms and what that took! still a nice guy, though, even though the relatives crossed ya up.

No fun playing travel agent for other people sometimes. Glad you hit at the end. A little surprised you're hanging in at the Plaza, tho, don't they treat you better at the El Cortez? But 30 yrs history at one place is a lot...

Ain't that the truth... I like the way they have the casino layed out, especially for downtown, but it's just not a whole lot of fun there when you have some grouchy dealers.

Glad it was a profitable trip for you Don. Here's to more of them

    I couldn't help but laugh!

Your report about the wife's cousins had me hee-hawing with laughter.
It kinda seemed like the beginning of a joke: "You ever hear the one about 8 Mormon's in one room in downtown Vegas?!......."

I too, think that your efforts were rewarded. A small winner is still a winner!
    Thanks for the report.

In spite of all your problems, it still sounds like you and Miss Jennifer were able to enjoy yourself and win a little money. Thanks for the report Don, hope your next trip is a little less stressful. :)

Thanks for the report Don! Glad you and Jen had a nice win! I must say, that when reading about your relative issues I had to laugh because I could picture the look on your face at each juncture! We live, we learn right?

    Don,
The selfish bastard that I am, I just hope the hassles caused by the cousin's son doesn't ruin your connections come NSF.
