not a song, but I nominate Boston's third album, third stage. Sucked hard and took forever to be made/released after Don't Look Back

When it comes to Rush, there's only one bad song....Closer to the heart.

I have to disagree - although it took forever to be released, it did have three hits.

That one almost sounds like a Four Seasons tune.

I don't know how to embed the video, but my vote is Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benatar. The nail in the coffin. Sadly, she lost the edgy sound that made her popular.

We started with the Beatles, but don't forget the awful 'frog song' by Paul McCartney and also David Bowie's 'laughing gnome" !

OK another confession. Mrs Zimbo has taken me to see Train twice and though not my cup of tea they put on a great show.

There is a slew of terrible movie music, but for studio recordings, this is just terribly "corny" for EP...

He had a bunch of songs like that on An Innocent Man album. Tell Her About it is also very late-50s, and Keeping the Faith is an ode to growing up in the late-50s and early-60s.

You hit the nail on the head. He was channeling Frankie Valli in the song.
A couple of bits of trivia about this song I read or heard somewhere in history. Most think he wrote the song for Brinkley, but he was actually dating Elle MacPherson when he started writing it. I guess he likes tall girls. He was dating Brinkley when the video was shot. Also, on one of their first dates, MacPherson came by his apartment to pick something up she left there. Joel thought it was funny that these two 6 ft tall supermodels would have dated a 5'6" schlub like him!

There used to be an old saying "Stand him on his money, he gets a foot taller." :)

The Beatles engineers were instructed to have the tape recorder rolling at all times.
Brian Jones (The Rolling Stones) plays saxophone on the end of the song.

Although he co-wrote it, the tune Because The Night just doesn't work when Springsteen tries to sing it! I really like the versions by Patti Smith and Natalie Merchant.
