    My Trip Report

    Hello Hello!

This is my 2nd attempt at a TR and I will do much better this time. Last time I tried to do a semi-live and got burned out towards the end. So I thought I'd give'er another try.

So YES, my wife was pregnant for this trip. To give some background I actually created another thread at one point to get some tips for her to enjoy this trip. I did a lot of research and found things I knew she would enjoy and could do. I believe she was in her early 2nd trimester at this point.

Our normal Vegas debauchery was going to have to change a little. We typically drink pretty heavy and bounce from bars and casinos all day. So one of the biggest obstacles I wanted was to limit exposure to smoke and anything else harmful for her and the baby. In the end, we did pretty well.

I'm a huge planner and I had been planning this trip for months. We also went to NOLA for 4 days after this and Houston another 4 days. For Vegas I planned flights, dinners, shows, deals, coupons, hotels, and everything else over and over it seemed. I matched myself to Diamond, played myVEGAS and Wynn Slots, took advantage of credit card perks, bought both coupon books and made trades, car rental through Turo, and yada yada. Tons of stuff which you'll see when I break down each day of our trip. I am limited on the pictures but I hope you all enjoy this trip.

I took advantage of Southwest's credit card companion pass deal. My wife got this card and also got around 30,000 points. We already had tens of thousands saved as well. With the help of the board I also decided the Hilton Surpass Card would give me a ton of benefits for this trip and beyond. It helped me match to diamond, get tons of free rooms (2 nights in NOLA), and the Priority Pass. All of this helps lead into the first day.

    June 24th-
First day of the trip! I couldn't be more excited. We are both in education and were ready for the summer. We had been on break for a couple weeks at this point and were getting anxious for the trip. Getting everything ready for the baby and I was training my football players. At this point we still didn't know if it was a boy or girl. I'll leave you on that cliffhanger for later.

Our flight was in the early evening sometime and I can't quite remember when. From the timestamp picture I have, it was around 6 or so. We were flying SW out of CLE and had a layover in Nashville. Not my favorite flight, but it was cheap and got the job done.

Before the first flight we wanted to make good use of our Prioty Pass. We were able to get credits to the Michael Symon restaurant. Sucks that with my level of PP that I have can no longer get those types of credits for restaurants. That is the only "lounge' in CLE. I had wings and she had a burger. I also drank a few beers with whatever was left of the credits. My only picture of that day.

Flights were uneventful. But something interesting did happen in Nashville. We are sitting there waiting to get onto the next flight and I see a women who looks so familiar. I can't quite place it. I keep looking and I nudge my wife. I told her that's the "I ain't no skank lady from Breaking Bad". My wife thinks I'm crazy and has no clue what I'm talking about. I find her picture show my wife. Her name is Dale Dicky and I heard the person she was with call her Dale. So that was was pretty hilarious. I love Breaking Bad and that episode is fantastic. Attached is her picture.

So we get to Vegas and hop in a Lyft. They were cheaper and we had some discount too.

We were staying at Planet Hollywood for 3 nights on a comp. I was pretty stoked to get resort fees waived for the first time as well. Had the basic room, can't remember the name. Did the 20 dollar tip and got a Strip View. No Fountains. Was bummed but not gonna bring me down.

Now I'm on my best behavior. One of the rules the wife wanted if we went to Vegas if she was pregnant. She was tired and it was late for us on East Coast time. So I obliged and we hit the sack.

Edit: we had gotten a slice at Pin-up pizza

    June 25th-

This whole day revolved around a few fun different things. My wife and I loved our first time at MAG and decided it would always be our first breakfast in Sin City. Got there around 830 and immediately got sat outside. It was a beautiful morning and we were both excited. She got the cinnamon crepes and I got some sausage egg Benedict thing. Both were delicious. I also love their coffee so we sat their and admired the view and took it all in.

After breakfast we went on our myVEGAS run. We both had Konami FP at Bellagio and Mirage. I had two tickets to the Mirage Secret Garden. And I think she had an Aria FP which would be used on a later day.

We first walked across the street to Bellagio to do all the normal walkthrough stuff. Saw the the flower chandeliers and conservatory. We both made our money whole or better on those FP and got out. During this time I started to have a few drinks. My wife was like "hey buddy cool it, it's not even 12". While this would be normal any other trip...I agreed and we pushed on.

We walked all the way down to the Mirage. It was starting to get hot. I remember asking her hundreds...no thousands of times this trip if she was okay. She honestly was a champ pretty much the entire trip.

We get into Mirage and we are both parched. We get our FP and go to the bar by the sportsbook. Both of us get several waters and play on that FP awhile. She looks at me and says get another drink. I said what about the whole not drinking too early thing. She looked at me and said, "ain't fucking morning anymore buckaroo". Gotta love that chick.

Once we get cooled and hydrated up we head to the Secret Garden. We really enjoyed the whole experience. She even mentioned that some day it would be fun to have a family trip out here. I KNOW I KNOW....most everyone on this board hates kids in Vegas. But I would absolutely do this in the future and would make it hands down an amazing family trip with all of the planning I could do.

After Secret Garden it was time for some SW Matchplay at The D and a downtown coupon run. I knew this would be our only day Downtown and I wanted to make the best of it.

I was worried about the smoke in some of the downtown casinos, but she kept telling me the whole time that she never really noticed it.

I believe we popped in and out of The Plaza, Main Street Station, The California, and the D. Not a full downtown run but we used just about all the coupons we could. We had already used some earlier in the year. I think we did okay and only sat down awhile at the Plaza and the D to play Video Poker and have some drinks. Water for her and booze for me.

I remember getting some McDonalds at the Plaza so the wife could keep her energy up.

So at this point I'm looking at her like you gotta be getting tired right. It's later in the afternoon and almost dinner time. She says no way this is vegas baby. We take an uber from The D down to the Flamingo.

I had the bright idea of using my hard earned RCs from all those stupid surveys at Margaritaville. What a bad decision...terrible food and terrible margaritas. That was my 2nd time going and I won't be back.

So at this point I'm feeling pretty good. But I'm on my best behavior...I promise. She said how about we do one more thing. I got it! I knew I read somewhere you got cheap tickets and cut the line to get into the High Roller with diamond. So we went on that bad boy for the first time.

At some point we made it to Harrahs to get our diamond monthly tickets for MadCap which the the comedian John Caparulo.

    Great first day in Vegas!

    June 26th-

Now this day I was so excited about. I was going to go see one of my favorite country groups of all time. Brooks and Dunn. When they announced they were not going to play anymore it broke my heart. I had not had the chance to see them live yet. But we will get to that show later.

We both woke up again fairly early. She was still feeling great and so was I. I had gotten some Bogo Breakfast at the Vdara. I don't remember the name of the place. Food was ehh and the cost was more normal to what I typically pay locally after the one meal was taken off.

We walk over to Aria to get her FP from Konami. My wife loves The Bachelor so we play this slot each place we go. We walk around the whole place and they don't have it, I even had to be 'that guy" to go ask the slot attendant if they had it. He looked at me and said "gotta be for the girl right?". I nodded and walked away after he told me no. So we finally found a place to play some VP. I think she hit a quad with that and we got out of there. I'm not the biggest fan of that place and my wife doesn't like it much either. We've had the buffet and liked it but haven't tried much else there.

Now we both LOVE the Cosmopolitan. As you can tell by the old default avatar. I love the Chandelier bar and just everything about the resort. My wife does as well. And she is happy she can play her Bachelor slot. Before we left we grabbed a slice at secret pizza to tie us over.

I convince her to sit at the Chandelier bar for awhile and play VP. We start pumping out tons of drink vouchers. Well lucky me! She can't really use them. The bartender heard us talking and knew she was pregnant so he wasn't going to accept the coupons from her anyway. He even made her some mocktails. But I got to reap the benefit of trying all the high end drinks. The verbena. Damn thing felt like I put my tongue on a battery. I also had some different martini's too. Yum yum.

We then find her Bachelor slot and had no luck on it. She was bummed and thought about quitting that machine lol. WRONG.

I honestly don't remember much of what we did after this. I think we bounced around Bally's, Paris, and Planet Hollywood. She might have played her Bachelor slot at Bally's.

She was getting tired and so was I. I could barely keep up with this lady. We went back relaxed and napped.

We woke up and got ready for the big show. I also knew this was the night we would get to use our diamond dinner. Of all the places we decide to go to the Flamingo steakhouse (which is now getting a makeover). Choose this for convenience since the show was going to be at Caesars. I thought the meal was overall pretty good. We shared a steak and a ton of other sides, apps, and dessert. I had several cocktails too. Made it out of there for under 50 bucks with the $100 off. Heck I'll take that anyday. We were both insanely full to the point we didn't feel good. This was not how either of us wanted to feel going to this show. She also loves Brooks and Dunn. She is a big Reba fan too.

Well we get to skip the line for being Diamond and get in wayyyy too early. I was gonna get a drink and thought...wtf was i thinking. The prices were astronomical. We could have sat somewhere and got drinks while gambling and snuck in last minute since we could skip everyone. Well you live and learn.

We both really liked the music. Neither of us loved the venue. The chairs were too tight for me and sitting there so long I ended up being very uncomfortable. I'm like 6'1 and 250 lbs so I'm on the bigger side. I sound like an old man griping...but anyway the show was fantastic. We had a long day and called it a night. I literally have no pictures of this day. I think my wife does so I will have her send me some and post what she has.

I will post the rest of the trip over the next few days.

A few pictures provided from the wife. Knew she'd come in clutch. One of the Tigers and one at the Caesars Coliseum before the show. As you can tell...no one there. Got there too early.

Here is one on the High Roller. I'd love to take others up there sometime and do the happy half hour. Sounds like a blast!

    June 27th-

So after two very busy days we were still both feeling great. Mostly surprising for her. She was up early and ready so that means I had to be ready too.

We were semi open in the morning in regards to plans but we were at the mercy of our Turo Host. I believe she gave us some 2 hour gap of time to drop off the car. As we were waiting we packed our things up to get ready to head to the next location.

After we packed up we needed some grub. We were worried that if she showed up a little early or on the first available time that we'd be screwed if we were sitting down to eat. We actually walked down to the Oceans restaurant in the Miracle Mile. Boom right as we sit down I get the text that the Host is on her way and would be 20 minutes. This was a blessing in disguise. I read later on this place gets tons of Health Code violations and has even been shut down. So we go grab our stuff and head down to the valet area.

Host pulls up and I see the beautiful car. 2019 Convertible Mustang. I loved the look of it and it was very reasonable. I got some new booking deal and another add on for her being an All-Star host. We only paid 100 total for 2 days.

I was actually pretty worried about driving. It was my first time driving in Vegas. The car was nicer then anything I've ever driven too. Nothing crazy but still nice. Wife was on GPS duty and after driving around I was way more comfortable.

We first took our things to the Wynn. We were staying there courtesy of Wynn Slots. This was before all of the major changes. It was still quite early and we couldn't check in yet. She said we would get a text when it was ready. So off we go.

Today we had three major plans. Off-Strip coupons, Hoover Dam, and our free diamond show. We were going to see John Caparulo.

At this point we were getting hungry but we both decided to get our coupon run rolling. First stop was Gold Coast. It was both our first time. We liked it in there. We went to a Friday's in there and shared a ginormous thing of nachos. As we were sitting we got the text that our room was ready. We decided that it could wait until later. Again, I can't remember details of gambling. We did well on most of our coupons if I remember.

Next up was the Orleans. We were both excited to check it out because we would be heading to NOLA in a few days. We really enjoyed the whole place. If we were to ever stay off-strip this would be high on the list. We did better here then anywhere gambling too. So that could be a contributing factor. I was on my best behavior. I won't even have one if I'm driving. Always been my rule.

We grabbed some Togo drinks because it was getting hot and we knew it might be awhile before we could get anything. We headed on out to the desert and to the Dam.

I read not too long ago about how one poster missed Vegas because of the beauty of being in the desert. I couldn't agree more. Being from a Humid Continental area, this is a drastic change of scenery and temperature. Since this was really the first time we rented a car and got to see ALL of Las Vegas, this trip made my love for the place grow even more.

Most of the time we had the top down but it would get too hot at times or we'd want some relief from the blistering sun.

As we drive out to the Dam we find some pretty wide open highway roads. I give the car some throttle and let it go. The car was surprisingly quiet and really didn't have much giddy up. I think it was the 2.3 L EcoBoost version. Next time I'm spending some dough and getting something really fun.

We get to the Dam and don't stay too long. We were not interested in the tour. But we did check most everything else out. Really cool experience. Another idea for the kids in the future.

Next up on the agenda is to hit up the Boulder Highway casinos. We end up only going to Sam's Town and Bighorn. She was getting tired (finally) and I wasn't sure what to check out. We liked Sam's Town a lot but barely checked it out. We grabbed something small to eat if I remember. But Bighorn...wow what an experience. Never been to a casino like that before. We were in and out because it was a tad smokey.

Next time I'm planning a day or two to check out a bunch more Off-Strip casinos.

Time to go check out our room at the Wynn and relax for a bit. The room was astonishing and I took full advantage of the tub. I have to mention that I gambled maybe only 50 dollars the entire time we were at the Wynn. We did not eat there either. It's okay to blame me for all of the restrictions on the game now...

We start to get ready for the night and decide to hit up Grand Luxe Cafe before the show. We walk over and get sat immediately. We both had the soup, salad, sandwich combo. We always enjoy it there and I think it's very reasonable for Vegas prices.

We head over to Harrah's area and decide to stop at Casino Royale. Honestly it's my wife's favorite casino. I have no idea why other then she has been lucky there. So we always stop in there each trip. She tells me to get a drink so of course I oblige. I went and got one of the Fat Tuesdays frozen concoctions. Those things pack a punch. I chug it down while we play some VP. First time we had no luck there.

We head to the show. John Caparulo was hilarious we both thought. I really enjoyed his humor and so did she. We are both from Northeast Ohio and he went to the same college where my wife went for her Master's. Go Kent State Flashes!

Wow...that was a long day. But one of my favorite parts of the whole day and trip was walking hand in hand back to the Wynn with my wife checking out all the amazing lights and scenery on the northern end of the strip.

    June 28th-

We had it planned to wake up really early this particular morning. We were not out too late the night before and I didn't even try to push it too much. I was excited about this day and it didn't disappoint.

We woke up early and got ready. Didn't take long because we both threw on some athletic wear. We get lathered up with sunscreen and we are out the door and hop in the stang.

We drove to a chick-fil-a for breakfast because we just wanted something quick easy, and cheap to get our day going. After this we start heading out to the Red Rocks.

Man...I was actually really pumped to go out and see the canyons after how much I admired being out in the desert the day before. We wanted to do it early before it got too hot. We pulled up to the park and paid some small fee and went into the visitor center to get a map and a Christmas ornament. Something we try to do anywhere we travel. Head back out and start cruising along the private road. I loved every minute of it. Nature is not usually my thing, but as I have gotten older I am able to appreciate it more. My biggest recommendation to any friend or family member now is to get a convertible and drive out there and check it out. I have some pictures I'll attach.

Another funny celebrity story. As we are driving along we see this car parked in the middle of the road. It was a Maserati and there was some sort of photo shoot going on. We pull up very slowly beside them and I can see this guy with extremely orange hair on his skateboard getting pictures taken. HOLY SHIT that's gold medalist Shaun White. I look back now and wish I would have interrupted and at least strike up a small conversation. But no...my dumbass slowed down and looked over and said "Yo! What's up Shaun?". He looks over at me and as friendly as possible says, "sup brah". He completely disregarded what he was doing as we were pulling away. I think he was coming over to engage us but I drove away too quickly. Lost my chance to talk to an american sports hero damnit. If you follow him on Instagram he has a really cool video from July 30th, 2019. He's riding his board on that private road.

Cough...back to our day lol. We decide not to hike any of the trails but stop and check most of the little areas out.

Our next plan was to hit some casinos we haven't been to and use some of our coupons. First stop of course was Red Rock Casino. We both really liked that whole resort and thought it would be a very family friendly type of resort in the future if needed. We both agreed that the majority of our Vegas trips would be just us, but it was still fun to think about as we were scoping all of these places out. We did poorly on the coupons and ran whatever winnings we had back through. I think we sat down awhile and had a few waters.

Next casino stop was Rampart. I really liked this area of Vegas. I don't know really anything about the residential side of Vegas but I found myself thinking that if I were going to ever live out there, that would be the area. As far as the casino it was dead and we were not fans. We actually killed it on the coupons and sign-up bonus stuff.

We both decide we are hungry and want to grab something and head back to the hotel. We hit up Jersey Mike's and make our way back to the Wynn. I had pleaded with my wife all week that I wanted some pool time, especially at the Wynn. After all this time she finally hits me with I'm really tired and wants to be ready for tonight...well what's on the agenda for the night? Sir Paul McCartney. So I'll make an exception.

The whole way back she insists that I should just go down by myself and she knows I will still really enjoy it. She swears it won't upset her. Well I decide to just stay in the room with her for several hours as she naps. I relaxed and soaked in the tub awhile. Looking back I really wish I would have went down and lounged around for awhile. Would have loved to test out my luck at the poolside BJ tables. I guess it's something I can look forward to on another trip.

Since I had been up awhile i had already gotten ready. She finally wakes up and starts to get ready. She keeps asking me what time it is over and over. She looks at me apologizes for sleeping so long and had an idea to make it up. Shes suggests going to Golden Tiki to make up for it. My eyes light up. Guys I'm a tiki nerd and I LOVE both tiki bars in Vegas. Before the trip we had agreed not to go to either because of the smoke at Frankie's and the fomo of Golden Tiki for her. But we had just enough time to hit up happy hour and head over the the concert. We decide to rideshare because she didn't want to drive in Vegas and I was gonna have some drinks now. We get to Golden Tiki and have limited time. I start pounding as many happy hour drinks as possible. She had forgotten that at the bar they have VP. Terrible odds but it made her even more excited. She played nickel DDB and kept hitting quads. We may have left there up money even after my drinks. I can't remember the exact total.

If you've ever been to this bar you know that when you go to the bathroom a bird talks to you while you pee. He had a pretty good one liner this time. "I hope your wife is a vegan because that's not very much meat." Well fuck you, you dumb automated bird...I left crying.

We lyft over to NYNY because we know it's just as easy to get to T-Mobile arena. We had not yet decided what to get for dinner. I picked Mexican. Gonzalez y Gonzalez. More like butthole y butthole. Neither of us enjoyed our meal and I definitely didn't enjoy my drinks. Sheesh for all my planning I struck out a few times on restaurants. Trust me, I'm not a picky eater at all. And I left that place and was actually mad about how bad it was. Maybe we just ordered wrong? Sorry if you like this place lol. But no way I was gonna let it ruin my night.

So now it was time to go listen to some epic tunes. My wife is a huge Beatles fan. I was not as much a fan before I meet her. But with being immersed into their entire style, I started to really enjoy their music. The show was great. He played all of The Beatles classics and much more. Even Steven Tyler paid a visit to do a sing-a-long. This night scored me huge brownie points with the wife for along time.

So some weird happenings. We were all the way towards the top and it took us forever to get out of there. Whatever security measures they take greatly outweigh convenience on leaving the venue. When we get out the entire crowd is still all bunched together and trying to figure out where to go. This was a cluster. We decide to walk to Park MGM and cut across to Aria. I thought I was smart doing this. Well everyone else must have thought this too. It was still an ungodly surge rate and wait time. Well WTF. I get the smart idea to walk to PH and if it was still bad I could just skip the taxi line with my Diamond. Did way more walking then I wanted for her. But she never complained. And as I had already guessed the rideshare wait times were still insane. So got into the Diamond line and boom we were gone. First time in a cab in years and I couldn't believe the price increase from ridesharing. At this point we didn't care and were eager to pass out for the night.

Next day is our last day in Vegas.

Last day...bummer. We had an afternoon flight to our next location so we had to pack in some last minute fun.

Again, we woke up earlier then normal for us. Since our plans were limited this day we moved slowly. We head down and I think I finally throw in some money at the Wynn trying for some last ditch luck . Like I said maybe only 50-60 bucks. Pretty much kept even on that.

We were both starving. Probably the hungriest of the trip. Hmmm....where is close and has big portions? Well Peppermill of course. Holy shit we pounded some food. We will be back for sure. Loved the whole vibe in there. Like I mentioned I like all things tiki and while this was not "tiki" it has it's own cool vibe.

We head north a little and fill up the stang. We are right by The STRAT and I just get the heebie jeebies in that area. So I usually try to avoid it unless popping in and out of somewhere.

Once we get back the host is ready for pick-up. We go through everything quickly and it was all good. I only have high regard for Turo. Loved the whole experience. Cheap, fast, and efficient. Free delivery and pickup was what was the cherry on top.

So we have several hours to kill and nothing to do...hmm what to do what to do. We packed our things up and take them down to store. Then I get the bright idea. We were both about done in regards to gambling any sort of real money. So I remembered a location at the Palazzo that we really liked. It's a big video poker area that just seems out of place. Bad paytables but they have nickel single line AND the cocktail waitress area is right beside these machines. I'm talking a beer every 5 minutes. It's my favorite "secret" location in all of Vegas. We sat there on 20 bucks each for a few hours. I went on an absolute quad tear. According to my time stamp I got these all with a few minutes. Of course I wish I was playing quarters or higher but it was still fun. We talked away up like 40 bucks and I had a nice buzz going. I'll even include my crazy redraw. I had all junk so i kept nothing. I drew 4 aces on the redraw. Gotta love it.

Well we were pretty much done at this point and head over to the fashion show mall to walk around awhile. We didn't buy anything but I think we had a little bit of grub. I didn't want to eat too much because I knew we could snack heavily at the lounge in the airport.

We leave the mall and go grab our things and head to the airport. We were both bummed about leaving and insisted that we could easily do a week in Vegas. We still have 8 more vacation days ahead of us, so that dulled the pain.

Thanks for following along everyone. I'm gonna do a mini picture dump of the rest of our trip and anything I may have missed in Vegas. I'm terrible at saving photos because I post everything to snapchat. My wife probably has a ton on pictures.

This was our "Last Trip" before we became parents. We wanted to go all out in a sense and it didn't disappoint. We were so excited and ready to become parents. I can't wait to take my kids to different places all over the country and the world.

Our daughter Penelope was born on December 15th, 2019. She is the sweetest little girl you could ever meet.

We are planning on going to Atlantic City and Philadelphia with her in June. I am still hopeful everything will start to reopen but I find this to be a longshot.

Again, thank you for following along! This was fun and gave me some entertainment while being pretty much stuck at home.

8/5 DDB for nickels with free flowing drinks in one of the nicest casinos in town? Sounds good to me  Thanks for the TR - seems like you two had a good time :)

I thought the same thing. 8/5 DDB for nickels on the Strip isn't bad, and definitely isn't easy to find!

    Nice report @NWAKALUM08!
