Are any 4-star non-gambling hotels open? In Vegas or Summerlin, or nearby.

(Or high end 3-star, I found a few which are open but they don't look good inside).

    TIA

Doing a search on Expedia or hotels.com shows a lot of chain hotels are still open in the area. No idea on the star levels, but I'm surprised to see Westin Las Vegas is still open since it's so close to the Strip.

I think one of those type of sites will be your best bet to find something that is still open, though I'd expect to pay a bit higher rates than normal just because of supply and demand.

Vdara. Or at least it will be open whenever the city opens up again

Many of these are "open" but really only accepting essential workers (doctors, nurses, etc.). Bear in mind that pretty much all public spaces are shut down, too; there are some parks open, but that's about it. No bars, no restaurants, no hotel amenities. I love Vegas, but now is probably not the time to visit.

In terms of non-gambling hotels, there's Vdara, as well as probably Trump and Signature. Waldorf, too. There's also Lake Las Vegas and some generic hotel chains (your standard Wyndham, Marriott, etc.). But there's truly very little going in town at the moment.

Doesn't The Westin still have a small casino? Unless they closed that down in the past, shouldn't they have been included in the casino/hotel close order?

I wonder what has happened to the people who live on the strip such as those in Veer Towers, Vdara, or Waldorf. There are people who live in these buildings, so they must operate? Correct? Anyone know anyone living there?

The Statewide order didn't close condos. I don't really think of those as "operating" since they are residences. But presumably the condos inside those buildings are still open

The statewide order suspended all state gaming licenses. If a hotel had a casino the casino must be closed.

They ripped the casino out a couple years ago, IIRC.

I'd recommend Hyatt Place Silverton. Hyatt Places punch above their weight class. For rooms, think Vdara but a little lower end. You get a separate living room, mini fridge, microwave. The hotel is new so it will be in good shape. Not sure what the dining situation is, but I assume they are still running room service delivery.

They're indeed still open. I don't think Vdara still too many actual residences at this point, but the Waldorf and Veer are definitely open.

Yep, I want to say about four years ago. Even when it had a casino, it was tiny.

I have no idea who has opened. As others have noted, several at City Center meet your quality requirement. Westin Lake Las Vegas. JW Marriott (Rampart forms the hub but the two towers are at the end of two spokes).

Pretty much all hotels are closed. I'm not aware of any places that are open to the general public (some are letting first responders in, and the time shares are a little trickier right now because there's actual ownership involved), but otherwise it's pretty much residential buildings. There might be way-off-Strip hotels and budget places, but I wouldn't exactly call, those four-stars. And also bear in mind that even if a hotel is open, there's very limited amenity available; at the residential buildings, for example, everything is closed even to full-time residents.

Fyi the Waldorf isn't open until it appears at least June 1.

Doesn't surprise me. I vaguely remember seeing on the news this morning that Sheldon is extending out to that, as well

I'd figure that the general public would not be allowed, but if you're one of the handful of people who live there and are riding things out, you're not going anywhere soon.

I hadn't thought of this, but its an interesting question.

Why would the Waldorf be closed?

I can see why 4-seasons in Mandalay Bay would close. Or Delano, given the attachment. Vdara, being stand-alone, well, that's a stretch, although I acknowledge the relationship with MGM.

I assume people still live in Veer.

The hotels remain open here in San Francisco... depressing occupancy, but open. Trump hotel in LV is open. I'd expect Waldorf LV to give it a try.

Hotels are better off being closed than super low occupancy financially. It requires too many people to keep everything running.

Back when Westin still had a casino, they also seemed to have a robust pilot/flight attendant business. I wouldn't be surprised if they still do, and if that's helping keep them afloat-- at least in part
