    Hi gang,

So right now I'm triple booked for a late September trip for about two weeks in length. I had originally booked a basic room at Aria and then a few days ago I double booked at Vdara for a Fountain View Studio. Well, my MLife calendar has seemingly each day become more and more consumer friendly so just a few moments ago I booked a Tower Premier One Bedroom Suite for what seems to be an incredibly low rate.

I haven't stayed at Luxor in about 20 years and never in one of the towers. I looked at the YouTube videos for this suite and it looked really nice. I guess my question to those of you who have stayed in this type of suite recently is how good of shape are these rooms in? Are they run down or have they been rehabbed recently?

I'm sure I'd be more than happy with my room at Aria or Vdara but I'm kind of curious about this suite at Luxor. The price points between the three are all in my wheelhouse, I'm still mobile so location doesn't matter, and food options are reasonably nearby so I'm not too worried about that. If you guys have any specific input on the room, pros and/or cons, I would certainly be interested to hear whatever you have to say.

Also, if you have any thoughts on the pool area that would be great as well.

Thanks VMBers, and hope everyone is staying healthy and safe.

I would stay again in one if those suites if I had the chance, but if you want a downside of those rooms, to me the disappointment is that the hardware in the bathrooms is a bit dated. Much of the trim/hardware has a dated 90's era brass look. I wouldn't say run down, but certainly not rehabbed recently. If that's not the kind of thing you would notice, or not be bothered by, then obviously this would not be a factor for you.

So the ironic thing is that the Luxor suite will probably be in better shape than the VDARA one. The reason being Luxor renovated many of their rooms and suites recently, while VDARA is original circa 2009. Almost 11 years is a long time for a hotel in Vegas to go unrenovated. Aria and Waldorf are experiencing the same problems.

I have stayed at VDARA in a Panoramic Suite, and Luxor recently in a 1 Bedroom Luxury Penthouse. I also booked a 1 Bedroom Tower Suite for a friend which is similar to what you are interested, just smaller. Years ago, around 2006 I stayed in a 1 Bedroom Tower Premier Suite, Pyramid Room, and Tower Room.

VDARA is frankly a far nicer over all property. It feels like a Grand Hyatt. Rooms are well laid out, and comfortable. The employees are great. That being said, while VDARA might have higher end amenities, the Luxor suite will be more impressive. They actually did a fantastic job with their renovation. The rooms punch above their weight class. What let's Luxor down is their almost non-existent room service, the low end common areas, time share hustlers, and just lower end crowd. Luxor and VDARA both have good pools. VDARA's is roof top and is on the smaller side but feels higher end. Luxor's is large and actually is quite nice for being a lower end property.

Really depends on what type of stay you are looking for, as to what you book.

How many square feet is the room you booked at Luxor?

I have a a comp offer for the Luxor Suite as well. It's 790 square feet, and looks very nice. My only concern is the location, which is why I'm still considering the Mirage, even though the Luxor room is twice the size.

Edit: My offer is for a Tower one bedroom suite, not a premier suite. Sorry for the misinformation.

The website says its 1050 square feet. That is way more than I need but I figure that since I'll be there for 12 days it will be kind of nice to have all that room and treat myself. (the rub being that it indeed ends up as a treat) I also like the idea of having a kitchen area and a fridge. The biggest suite I've ever stayed in was a Petite Suite at TI and I really liked it. IF this is comparable I'd be pleased.

@zignerlv & @Paul K have given me some great info, thanks. I guess the thing I'm more than a little concerned about is the service in those suites - especially housekeeping. I got the VIP Lounge/Check-In so I'm not concerned about any front desk issues. The rate is incredible but I don't want to stay at a hotel for 12 days and be disappointed from the get go regardless of how good of a deal I'm perceiving to be getting. As @Paul K mentioned Luxor is definitely on the lower end of MLife's lineup so I'm absolutely taking that into consideration. Just hoping for a nice room, good housekeeping and a good pool scene; I can deal with the location, lack of higher end restaurants and so-so casino environment. I'm pretty mobile so I'll be able to manage those things.

What I might do is go ahead and go with Luxor and also readjust my Aria reservation for a couple of days later; that way if I check into the Luxor suite and I'm not happy with it I can always just move on over to Aria and if I like it at Luxor I can cancel Aria. Worst case I'll decide to switch hotels after a few days and end up at Aria for the duration of my trip. First world problems to be sure.....

    A couple of other questions:

    1. How is the Wi-Fi?
    2. Is there any discernible difference between the east and west towers?

Anyway, thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

we have stayed at the towers last two trips .. better room service and more private from the other rooms in the pyramid
have their own elevators one tower is nearer the pool the other nearer the spa convention space
rooms are very very nice and spacious very quiet .

they have their own entrance facing backlot of excalibur

I stayed in a West Tower suite a few weeks ago. Housekeeping service seemed good to me but I'm not the kind of person to trash a room. Wifi worked great both in the room and on the casino floor.

I don't know if there would be any difference between the towers room wise, but the elevators to the West tower are in one area and the elevators to the East tower are in another so make sure you don't go to the wrong one by accident.

I stayed in this suite last September, and we really enjoyed it. The tower that is further back from the strip, I think West - can be a bit of a hike.

The pictures on the web-site aren't necessarily the suite you'll get. Our suite didn't have the L shaped couch. Just a regular couch and on the other side of the room 2 chairs.

Don't assume that because it's a suite, they will have decent products, i.e., shampoo, etc.. I recommend bringing your own.

Wi-fi was fine, and I can't really remember housekeeping. We may have kept our DND sign on the door while we were there.

I agree, there was no body wash provided (only bar soap), and because of the grooves in the holder for the soap, it will not hold the little bottles of shampoo/etc

The East Tower is closer to main check in. West Tower is closer to the pool, the walk to the elevator lobby is also nicer.

Amenities at Vdara are superior, unless you are in a Penthouse. The other suites at Luxor get the same stuff as the rest of the rooms.

If it were me, for such a long trip, I'd split the stay between both hotels.

Mike one other consideration. Luxor is very much south strip and while connected to both Mandalay and Excal, it's a bit isolated And it's a hike from the tower rooms to the casino. Vdara is an easy walk to Aria (and it's restaurants!) and Cosmo, and there's walkway to Bellagio.

I've stayed in both and think the Luxor room is a great value and the extra room would be great. The Luxor two-bdr (which I think is a one-bdr with a lock off) did not have a microwave or any way to cook, but did have a fridge. Vdara has both and I believe a range-top. I think they're both solid, really depends on what you want...extra room or nicer property in center strip.

FWIW, I prefer Vdara over Aria, I like the separation from the casino, the walk is certainly no more than the Luxor tower to the floor, and you get a little more for your money. But that's a personal thing.

As almost always, my advice is to stay where you like to play, and eat, and drink....

Yeah, the more I think it over I'm thinking Aria or Vdara. Even though I'd be getting a huge suite at Luxor for a good price the bottom line is that I don't really need all that space and I'd rather play where I stay as @irishdave mentioned. I'll more than likely stay with my original plan of staying at Aria.

Nevertheless, thanks everyone for your help and advice. Much appreciated.:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

I've stayed in the one bedroom and two bedrooms suites a few times over the last few years. There are 3 (not counting the penthouse) kinds of one bedroom suites in the towers, the standard (780sgft), premiere (1000sqft) and premiere deluxe (1200sqft). I usually am in a standard because I get that fully comped for 4 nights but have stayed in the other 2. the deluxe is nice and roomy and has a second bathroom - good for when you bolt into the room and need the closest bathroom possible. There are some that have been recently upgraded and some that others might call "worn". Since I'm biased on the Luxor I'm ok with either, all rooms were clean. If you like the spa and pool then stay in the West Tower, it's closest. Since I drive I usually bring snacks and drinks with me and it's nice to have the fridge and mini-bar area. I get the feel that I'm in a comfortable apartment when I stay in one of the suites, that goes for all 3 flavors. BTW - for those ever looking at the 2 bedroom option it is the premiere suite with a king connector, works perfect when traveling with another who you'd rather not share the bed with!
