Are you going to wait til Vegas is “Vegasy”?

With all this time on my hands, I was pondering if I’ll rush to Vegas when the casinos first open, or, wait til it’s “Vegasy” (fun, vibrant, energetic, a lot of people, etc.) A small (impulsive) part of me wants to go when it first opens, but a much larger part wants to wait til people are comfortable going, til it gets its vibe back.

I can gamble in Maryland, so IMO no need to hop a flight for 10 hours R/T, only to gamble.

Some might argue that Vegas will have the “Vegasy” vibe as soon as it reopens, due to the fact that everyone has cabin fever.

I’m thinking my May 27th trip will be too early, but I’m absolutely going July 25th, at Caesars 5 nights.

This idea popped in my head on this dreary day, and I realize it’s all speculation, but thought I would share. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

We currently have a trip planned for May 4th. Tickets to see Shin Lim and Gwen Stefani have already been purchased and rooms are set. Mirage already canceled Shin Lim but Gwen is still on however my wife and I are dealing with this same question. Even if Vegas reopens, we agreed we don't want to spend the time and money on trip that isn't going to be 100% "Vegas". We haven't pulled the trigger yet because I'm waiting to see if Gwen Stefani show cancels at PHO. I guess that's our remaining glimmer of hope. Even if Gwen remains on schedule, we won't go if restaurants aren't open and every other machine is turned off.

Yeah I was there and left Vegas on 3/16 day before they closed down (trip was planned so it didn’t had any real impacted) but I noticed one thing while I was there... when we were playing slots, table or just talking to workers no one knew exactly what was happening so mojo “Playing more seriously” wasn’t there even the time I was playing I felt very “unease” so I didn’t play that much; we still had awesome time and actually won $3500 however, couldn’t shake the feeling and I didn’t like that at all. So if I decide to go back It will be when after the storm for sure I want able to play in calm! like you said I can always play local :)

I was supposed to be there a few weeks ago and couldn’t go. So like everyone who had trips planned disappointed it didn’t happen.

I wouldn’t want to go back unless the vibe was still fun and most things were open, pools, bars etc. I don’t have a choice anyways though as being from Canada I don’t think our borders will be open any time soon.

As my countdown timer shows were due to fly for our annual trip tomorrow. As things rolled forward a few weeks ago I was initially one of those who couldn't have contemplated canceling. Obviously that happened (just can't bring myself to remove the timer). I had been thinking about rebooking a future trip but I'll be honest I don't have it in me right now. Much larger concerns right now. To answer the question at hand though yes we will 100% wait until things are 'Vegas-y". I want it to be 100% open in all its glory. We only get to go once per year and when we do we go all out. I want to be able to party and let loose fully. I don't want a single thing in our minds besides being in the moment. I have a job that keeps me on call 24/7 and I often have to work incredibly long hours and have trouble getting fully disconnected. When we go to Vegas my phone goes in the safe, I carry NOTHING with me except cash and players club cards etc. As it stands right now I cannot see being able not to think about what is happening and what may happen for a while. If things do return to a new normal we WILL be back, but it will be when things are at full tilt.

My next trip is still on starting May 24. I need the 'all clear' from the CDC in order to go. I love the atmosphere of LV. I don't love the amount of people. As long as restaurants are open and I can walk around I'll be happy.

I had to cancel my fall trip, so I'm overdue right now. I'll probably book as soon as is convenient and fits my requirements. I think LV will be "Vegasy" from the minute it gets going again. I also think a lot of us will get a similar feeling I had in the 90s when every time you turned around a new hotel, show or attraction would open. For a while what was old will seem new. I think we'll get that sense of being the kid in the candy store for a bit. I can't wait. Also, the first server or bartender to get me a drink or glass of wine gets a $100 tip. Kind of like the opening day ceremonial pitch. Can't wait.

My wife and I were just talking about what it will be like when the casinos open up again. Will it be a mad rush of people flying in from where ever or will it be a gradual influx over say a week or 10 days. Will people wait a bit before they decide it is really ok to come back and the threat has dissipated? I think that we will be waiting a little while after things are open again. (Although I am curious to see what it would be like when all of the casino doors open for the first time.)

I have trips booked for April 25-29 and May 22-28. At this point I definitely don’t see the April trip happening, and I am extremely doubtful the May trip will happen either. But, as soon as it is safe to be there I’ll go.

I’d imagine it will take some time before it returns to normal, even when Vegas opens back up there may be parts of the country and certainly parts of the world with restrictions on travel. Add in the amount of people that will be fearful of gathering in large groups, especially the high risk demographic and it very well could be a while before Vegas truly returns to “normal”.

If they find a treatment if you get infected or find a prophylaxis therapy like they are giving to physicians and medical workers in India (hope it works) then we can live our lives again with confidence. Otherwise it may take a vaccine, which is at least a year away, for your social confidence to be fearless again.

I have a trip scheduled for May 29 but I'm thinking if they extend the shutdown until end of April-early May, I'll push this back until July to give them time to return to normal. I actually enjoy the large amounts of people having a good time, plus I'll try to align my trip with some others here if I can lol.

I am thinking there will be a certain group that will "rush back". But also many that will want to wait until the health threat is really, really gone. And a ton of variables in between. Varied responses to what is happening then. And of course, you will also have those that are so financially impacted, they are unable to go.

We are making a few different flight reservations for different days - early May and again early June. Will wait and see. I can not see us going with every other slot machine turned off. Just not fun.

I had a good time achieving my goal of making sterling at Cosmopolitan in January. I think I could do a 90% Cosmo trip again. If the resort is totally up and running, I think it would be enjoyable even if the rest of Vegas isn’t fully open.

Really hoping to make it in August, but I’m gonna let my friends decide. If not then, we’ll try for Halloween. I hope things are running at least a little by then!

We plan on going still in early June if Vegas is back open. Even if Vegas is not as busy it will not bother us. Our favorite days are midweek there anyways.
