With MLB announcing a 2 week minimum delay to the start of the regular season, it appears very unlikely that a 162 game schedule will be played. Hopefully the books let us get a refund on our over/under wagers as soon as it's known 162 won't happen.

The loss of a live audience for NCAA games is billions to the league, the venues, the hotels, restaurants and everybody else in the host city. But I expected they'd play the games in empty venues for the TV audience, which will be bigger than ever thanks to everyone being cooped up for the next few weeks.

I'm glad this wasn't the year I booked for my big splurge, a Vegas trip during the "madness" in order to bet on opening weekend games.

I'm still stunned there will be zero tournament action this year. The economic ripple effects are mind blowing.

The NCAA gets the vast majority of its money from tv.

And another league has suspended play. The XFL.
BREAKING: According to Konnor Fulk of XFL News Hub, The XFL has been suspended indefinitely due to COVID-19.
No official announcement from the league has been made yet. Players and coaches are in the process of being notified.
With states restricting crowds to 250 people, plus player, coaches, and staff safety. Vince McMahon and Oliver Luck really had no choice.

For those looking for a moment of levity, Duke Grad Dan Bernstein's impersonation of Coach K at the 30:37-31:40 mark of Hour 1 had me laughing hysterically. (Link - Once selected, scroll up to Hour 1 March 12, 30:00 on the player).

Thanks. I understand the reasoning but feel sad about it because I always look forward to baseball season and Opening Day. :(

Well this is supremely dissapointing. I understand why the cancelations had to happen but you gotta feel for the players that put so much work into this season.

All of this will have a ripple effect through out the economy and it will not be good. People do not understand how all of the economy is interlinked.

PGA Tour cancels 2020 Players Championship.
Additionally, the Valspar Championship, WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play and Texas Open are also canceled as well. The next event to be played on the PGA Tour is the Masters, which begins on Thursday, April 9.

Some folks have a clue, but plenty do not.

I remain dumbfounded by the idea that the NCAA has scrapped its entire college basketball postseason, TV and all. As plenty of people stay home... easy to do in Minnesota in March, even if most of the snow has melted earlier than usual... TV ratings would only be stronger. No live audience and no ticket/concession/hotel/dining/entertainment spending...that's a huge blow to the NCAA and all the host cities. No TV ratings for games played in empty arenas? Lost revenue for every Buffalo Wild Wings in the nation, no sports betting for March Madness in Vegas? Huge revenue generators lost.

I am not surprised the XFL has followed every other sports league. We know the odds are against any second-tier pro football operation, but the cancellation of so many events and entertainment options and outlets for at least this weekend would have only helped direct eyeballs to televised XFL games. I don't have a strong interest in the success or failure of the XFL, but indicators were that it was doing OK, given the sports/TV landscape of 2020, and a ton of planning went into it, far more than last year's flop, the AAF. Perhaps the league can keep it together and use 2020 as an exhibition season to build off of in 2021.

Baseball is my game, and I have been to 21 of 30 MLB parks. I have no plans set for 2020, and it was already going to be a low-key year. Likely Denver is my only destination. I'm assuming I'll still be able to go sometime this summer.

Wrestlemania is the next "large gathering" 70,000 ppl April 5th in Tampa, that is under pressure to cancel. Supposedly Vince McMahon, CEO of WWE, has no plans to do so.

OK- MLB Players Association telling players to go live where they are most comfortable for the next 4-6 weeks. So, don't count on MLB until May, alas!
