Any thoughts on this property? I have fairly good flight offers there and have considered it.

Harrah's North Kansas City isn't bad, but nothing to write home about either. It's a 2 floor casino, but each floor isn't very big. Lots of older slots upstairs. VP as well, but paybacks aren't good. Rooms are pretty standard for Harrah's. No pool. Buffet is decent.

Also keep in mind that in Missouri there are no comped drinks on the gaming floor per state law. There is a nice sports bar outside the casino that has a lot of craft beer selection. I usually go there first, buy a beer and walk it into the casino. They'll let you bring purchased drinks in.

Also it's pretty isolated, so you'll need to use Uber if you don't have a car rental and want to leave the property.

I do not win there that often. I prefer Ameristar or Isle of Capri.

Agree, the machines felt pretty tight on my last visit...
They also had a bunch of machines pulled off the floor upstairs earlier this month. It looked like they were painting so that might be done by now.
No pool or spa if that matters to you.

    Ameristar >>> Harrah's, imo.

Harrah’s NKC does have comped drinks in the Laurel Lounge, as well as daily food. In addition, if you were above 40k TC in the last year, you get to go in what I think they call the Manager’s room or something, where the food selections are full meal worthy and the drinks are free as well. They “code” your player’s card at Laurel check-in.

Every employee in the place was super friendly.

The GM room requires 50k and gives access to comped alcoholic drinks in the Laurel or GM, otherwise discounted only in the lounge.
The food in the GM room is different, but not always better. On my visit earlier this month the GM room had chili dogs...
The Ameristar lounge is definitely better in food, decor, and drinks.
A good overview of that Harrah's here, though I would debate the level of smoke on a weekend evening.

That’s where we will be Thursday and Friday this week. We go often because hubs has to go to Kansas City once or twice a month for business. I’m always up and down there as for as gambling goes. I really prefer Ameristar. They have more eating places since I’m pretty much stuck until hubs gets off work each trip. We are getting to eat at the new Gordon Ramsey Steakhouse this trip.

I was out there in early January. I believe they have 3 craps tables (2 regular and 1 craps-less) and one was even $5 on a Saturday. The craps tables can get very crowded and PAINFULLY slow on the weekends. The staff has always been very friendly.

I'm going to KC for business next week, and since I don't think that the company will put me up at one of the casinos, I'm going to be visiting them in the evenings. I've been to Harrah's and Ameristar both but it has been several years (15 or so???) and don't remember much about them. I have never been to Argosy or Isle of Capri. What would be my best bet for a casino for table games and maybe live poker?

If you know and have a good relationship with your company travel people, you might talk to them. For my business trips to Las Vegas I've never had any problem asking them to put me in a modestly-priced casino-hotel such as SLS or Flamingo, as their corporate rates are often times cheaper than the "usual suspect" business-type hotels such as Hampton and the like.

Our company has corporate rates with certain chains and gain points for our stays so I imagine I will be at one of those.

Depending on what part of town you're at, Hollywood Kansas Speedway is also an option for live poker. I haven't kept up with Bravo lately though to know which one is the busiest now. Argosy and "Isle of Debris" don't have a poker room. The 99 Hops House at Argosy has a very nice self-serve beer wall though. Lol

For table games, I wouldn't be surprised if Ameristar was the best choice. But I don't really play tables much.

I will actually be near Overland Park where our KC location is during the day and I'm guessing that is the area that they will put me up in.

I played the first time at this property a couple months ago. It had been a couple years since I played at a Ceasar property so no status - imagine my surprise when out of the blue a host found me at a slot machine. Asked if there was anything I needed, they could do etc..gave me their card. It was nice and I did win a little.

Went to Isle of Capri once and not been back. Very small, hardly any restaurants when I was there. Crowd was very local and I felt out of place.
Harrah's and Ameristar are pretty close to each other so easy to hop between.
Argosy is nice and less spread out than Ameristar/Harrah's.

Fun update, my company approved me staying at Harrah's KC. I have a LV tower king reserved. I'm shocked to say the least.

That's nice. But keep in mind that overland park is a 30-minute drive from Harrah's WITHOUT traffic.
