The moderators of this board seem to close every thread related to *the virus*, however it might be time to have honest discussion on here, with all that is going on.

Las Vegas will be impacted. To what extent who knows, however a good friend of mine has already shared the NFL is likely either cancelling or drastically altering the draft.

NOTE: I would love nothing more than to not have to moderate these threads. So far, threads we have tried to open have all quickly devolved into the regular disinformation, hype, political opinion or other rule violations.

If you can keep this thread on the topic of the sports betting and Las Vegas without drifting off into the normal internet drama and garbage, it can stay. If it's can't, I will issue warnings where I can and may eventually have to close the thread if it becomes unmanageable.

It's going to be interesting to see how this will be handled. With the prospect of other games in other leagues being rescheduled, postponed, or even outright canceled, this is an opportunity for a precedent to be set.

kind off on a tangent, but with the ncaa tourney still going, albeit with no fans other than family in attendance, how does that affect the betting lines? does the cinderella team feel more confidant playing the dominant seed in what usually would be considered close to a home game? Does it affect the over/under on all the games? Am I thinking about it too much? It's kind of fascinating to me

With both college and pro basketball setting a tone, the NHL could be next.

Turning the discussion back to the sports book, I will be calling CET in the morning to find out about my futures bets.

This was already a chaotic, parity-filled regular NCAA season. I think teams that travel well (Kentucky, Duke, etc.) are at a slight disadvantage.

Conversely, I could see that when a neutral'ish crowd usually starts rooting for an upset in the fourth quarter, that could change a bit too. But not as big of a change to road teams who travel well.

I’ve been thinking about this as well...especially since my Hoosiers (who need a decent showing in the B1G tourney to lock up an NCAA bid) are playing 45 minutes from their campus* and would have had a semi-home court advantage in every game they played.

*In the B1G tourney, of course. Not the NCAA tourney.

Given what's happened in the NBA, and that it's inevitable that some college players will test positive in the next week, I'd be shocked if the tourney wasn't postponed/canceled.

It's sad for me to see. Think about the vendors and people looking forward to making money in this season. This could be money they rely on for the season, especially post season.. a lot of economic pains. I just hope anyone exposed will be ok

I hope thats not the case. Some of these guys have worked long and hard to make it to this point, I'd hate to see them not be able to play it out.

The NHL is going to try an empty arena game Wednesday night (PIT @ CBJ) - I'd expect they'll likely suspend the rest of the season by the weekend.

Cincinnati is debating about canceling their 101 year old opening day parade.

    Edit: cancelled.

I hope it still does. Unlike the pros, some of these students would lose college eligibility in a couple of months when they graduate. A postponement or cancellation would mean that they may have lost what they worked for all year (or college career). For now, it looks like it's still a go but is a very fluid situation.

    Fully agree,
As @Sonya requested, I hope we can keep it all on topic as to how it affects our Vegas experience, positively, or negatively,
but not lean into nasty political talk or wild conjecture,
I myself have one week to decide if we go,
we just got a family member into a nursing home, and they are starting to lock it down, barely made it, admissions from hospitals aren't allowed any more, where up till now we were hearing that was the best way in. Visitor rules are going to change.. etc. (sorry not Vegas)
and the absolute last thing we would want would be to be a healthy surviving carrier that distributes it.

I think what happens with March Madness will be a indicator of the impact, I may be reporting in soon from the front lines. or possibly not.
