I think the best protection as a consumer is to simply not give business to an organization that doesn't operate how you like.

Look at all MyVegas at the App store and see how they advertise. They emphasize on the opportunity to get "Real Rewards". They don't advertise buy chips for rewards this is because it is implied as a consumer and not their guarantee. Wynn is no different and when they have to make a business decision that will upset their clients but keep them from bleeding more money then I would bet on them not bleeding money. Plus because how careful they were with their legal talk are protected.

Well, I'd certainly start by asking Wynn for my money back if I felt they deceived me. Some Master Cards still have a satisfaction guarantee. I'm sure AMEX would refund me no questions asked. I think the intended effect is to get a refund....If there's enough complaints and charge backs, that might get Wynn's attention. I wonder how many people bought chits based on the come on.

Does anyone know the actual relationship between Wynn and Torpedoe Labs (which is the developer)?

For MyVegas, they are a separate company (Playstudios) and not owned by MGM. I believe Playstudios pay for the comps at the highly discounted rate. Regardless, they have some kind of an affiliation and what happens in the app reflects on Wynn. I was going to write to Wynn and point out how the app was poorly conceived and how that reflected on Wynn as a whole. I'm a little hesitant to do that now, on the off chance that Wynn would just sever ties with the app and I wouldn't get my booking I already have and the one I will still make (even at 2 days, since I'm already level 3).

I have had several paid stays at Wynn in the past, but won't stay there again in light of how they handled this. I have 16K gems and never managed to redeem any because of timing (I had planned to use them this spring but the timing didn't work out). I spent about $30 to get level 2 (when that allowed room bookings), which I don't mind losing. But I almost spent an additional $140 Cdn to reach level 3 after the recent changes. If I had and they then changed the rules again, I'd be seriously mad. And I'm sure there are lots of people in that situation.

They clearly implied that if people reached level 3, they would be able to book for 4 room nights, maybe not forever, but it was implied that they would have a chance to redeem. Yes, they have the right to change their terms, but that fact that they changed them a few days after people paid hundreds of dollars to reach level 3, is a sign of bad faith. It's probably not worth a lawsuit but someone should be writing articles about this to give Wynn some well-deserved bad press.

I agree with everyone. But I separate from having personal feelings when a corporation does what’s best for them and not the clients. They are all corporate machines regardless. My relationship with Wynn is viewed this way.
It makes financial sense for me to invest 200$ to get rooms valued at 2k and to get 300$ worth of buffet that I love. Pure math based relationship.

I don’t say sorry to them if I take advantage of any of their loopholes or tricks or get more in value back than what I spend etc. I will continue to win by getting more value in return than what I spend rather than quitting.

They don't care and you know it. Wynn management is not in the dark...they know the game being played. We got fucked, plain and simple.

I would advise anyone who is thinking about signing up and playing the Wynn app from this point forward, to check out the 20 page Wynn Slots App Terms of Service.

I'm posting a link to the pdf document http://www.wynnslot.com/doc/wlv-tos-v2.pdf?v=v8 but If you'd rather not click on it, you can go to Wynnlasvegas.com and find https://www.wynnlasvegas.com/casino/wynn-slots terms of service there.

It was last updated about 90 days ago. Might want to keep an eye on updates if you're considering a future booking from your winnings.

Quite the eye-opening read for those who may not have done so before signing up and playing the game.

There is no benefit to this game anymore. I always laughed previously at people who always said “the games dead now” over the silliest thing. But now basically you need to spend a hundred dollars for every night you’re staying at the Wynn. I know people who have purchased nights for $99 with a buffet before. I know some people will mention about resort fees and some nights costing more but the difference is that not only are you paying $100 a night (or for us UK people £100GBP so more like $130) you are also having to invest HUGE amounts of time in an app that may then bite you in the ass and not give it to you anyway. You’re better off and safer just coughing up the normal email offer rates and knowing what you’re getting than playing for months, saving a few dollars and then finding out you can’t get what you want anyway. When it’s costing 25mil a gem the time investment required to then have to spend hundreds anyway just doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. MAYBE they will introduce some lower value rewards like MV that make sense (BOGO, free drinks etc) but it’s unlikely it will be worthwhile. Add into the mix for the short term that all MGM properties have shut their buffets due to corona it is likely other major properties like the Wynn will have to follow meaning that you can’t even claim a buffet. That means this app really is totally useless. And then what does that mean for the app if nobody is playing and paying? It surely means they just pack up shop and we are all left with NOTHING.
I’m just praying that my booking for July is honoured and not somehow cancelled or reclaimed or if corona virus ruins it all (ie properties have to shut) then I wonder if we will be able to move our bookings or if we will just get refunded gems and then be expected to pay hundreds to be able to rebook. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from a brand that says it prides itself on how it looks after it’s guests and on their reputation.

    rant over...for now...

Most players did... and I want to say this without sounding like I'm bragging, but I can't say I'm one of them. I've only spent a total of about $60 USD on the game and I have four nights over a weekend already booked for July with two comp buffets for about a $1,300 USD total retail value. There's no way they're turning a profit based on what I paid, especially once you deduct the cut that Apple and Google take on the app payments.

It goes without saying that part of the economics of casino app games is the (mostly proven) expectation that anybody who will spin slots all day to grind out gems to get a free stay at a casino hotel is probably going to gamble on property and ultimately pay for whatever "freebie" they landed through the app by way of gaming losses. They might notice at a macro level that the average guest staying on these app comps isn't playing much in the casino... but I believe that taking two minutes to iterate that to someone at the supervisor level isn't going to be a complete waste of time. They might ignore me, or it might be a contributing factor in making them realize how much brand damage it has caused for them.

After all, what casino-hotel supervisor wants to hear someone explicitly say "I'm going to stay in one of your rooms over a weekend for free, chow down on your buffet for free, and not give you a penny of my money or play in the casino because I don't want to support this kind of company"? Again, they might ignore it... but you never know when saying something might wind up making a difference.

I don't care either way... there's no way I can lose. But if they can be pushed to make amends with the app players, then it becomes a win-win.

    Seems rational.

And to the person who posted (I hope in jest) that you just steal/break stuff from the room when you go there to "get back at them"... Yeah.

This is why we can't have nice threads on VMB. :nono:
