Proposed Downtown Meetup: Tuesday April 28, 2020

So I get the impression that several of us will be in town in late April... thought I'd start a thread to propose an early evening meetup in Downtown Vegas on Tuesday the 28th.

Based on the roll call thread, it seems the following users will be in town at that time...

Tentatively, I'd like to propose meeting for a drink at Whiskey Licker Up... I feel like that might be fun. I'd be open to suggestions for other venues too though.

For timing, ideally early evening, perhaps 5:00 pm or so, before each of us goes into our own "full swing" mode for the evening. Only proposing downtown as I'm planning to be downtown all day that day, but I'd be open to having this on the strip instead if enough people would prefer that.

So to sum it up, 5:00 pm, Tuesday April 28 at Whiskey Licker Up... who's in?

Side note: For whatever it's worth, I'm planning on heading up to Jerry's Nugget for dinner and some blackjack/bingo that evening, so if anyone's up to head up that way with me (whether from the strip or from downtown), I'd be happy for you to come with. Awesome prime rib, $3 blackjack/craps, $2 roulette.

 

Not sure when I will have to be at MSS/Cal that day for the slot tourney I’m playing in, but if I can make it that day I will The same for Jerry’s Nugget, as that’s pretty much de rigueur for my Vegas visits

I will plug it into my phone's "Reminders"... & I'm assuming the new "upstairs" part of the bar!

My plans have changed slightly since I posted and I won't be getting into town until late on Wednesday the 29th of April. Unfortunately, I'll have to sit this one out.

 

Thanks for seeking the clarification MG and TopCard... indeed it was the "upper" bar I was referring to, the one pictured below.

Let's treat that as a plan for the time being then!

I’ll be downtown that night too (though can’t be out late as I have a 6:15 am flight the next day)... let me know if you’d be up for meeting up at any point that day.

Thanks for noticing and including me, but I have cancelled all travel for myself for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, I am in the high-risk category and the advice from Doctors among others is that travel is ill-advised for me until COVID 19 is contained or until we have more information.

Tuesday downtown is a definite possibility! Im travelling with a group, so that may impact my plans, but I would love to participate in my first board meet up if possible! Thanks for organizing!

 

Will there be opportunities at this meetup for money sculptures?

 

Oh man, I laugh so hard every time I watch that video... lol.

I'm down to play "dollar bill reverse Jenga" at this meetup, where each player brings a stack of $1 bills that they'll crease on like I did, and each player will take turns adding a $1 bill to a 2x2 sculpture like that and the person who places the $1 bill that makes it fall over loses and has to buy the next round for everyone playing. And then we take however much money the $1 bills amounted to, and bet the full amount on the number equalling that amount on roulette (e.g. 28 bills = $28 on number 28, to pay $980), and split the winnings if it hits.

Somehow I get the feeling no one will want to go for this, but I'll suggest it anyway

 

Thanks for the invite but I'm usually very busy on the day I get in. I usually run errands, pick up stuff like bottled water and munchies and have to worry about checking into the hotel. And since I'm taking the redeye (and I don't sleep very well on planes) I usually catch up on my sleep so I'm usually walking around like a zombie until I get some zzz's that afternoon or night.

Maybe next time.

 

Change of plans. Hawaiian air flights from HNL to LAS are $218 for a r/t flight.

Because I'm not sure how it will be (in vegas) in 6 weeks I am trying to change my flight, hope to get to vegas next week or the week after. So I will actually save $70 on my flight. Plus because I'm sapphire I am able to get 4 comped nights plus $40 in food credits.

Unfortunately I can't reach the HA agent (have to call to cancel/rebook), guess they are swamped with change requests.
