I would take the freeplay, since there is always the chance that I might hit something big, either on VP or slots. LOL

I know those two CET offers decently well. I take it that you are considering GR Steak for the meal? The $400 restaurant offer is truly meant to be a "for two" (or more; basically, you treating someone else to an amazing meal) seating, with the presumption that the diners would likely splurge quite a bit more on a "once in a lifetime" meal and have the total bill come out to a decent amount more than $400. If you do choose that offer and you dine alone or with just one other person, the casino is betting that you will either not spend the whole $400 (it is usually more difficult than you think, but you did work out how to splurge for just one person and hit the mark) or that the comp value of your play would not cover the whole $400 comp. Either way, it is a creative loss leader on the casino's part (either not owe the hospitality side as much as committed for your meal, or reduce your future offers due to you being overcomped this trip). If you take at least two others out to dinner with you and manage to spend the whole $400 (and possibly more), then the casino is only betting that your play would not cover the comp value of that meal.

Admiral Ackbar said it best. My recommendation is the free play offer (still a loss leader for the casino, but usually more in their favor anyway and inherently less comp value for you to "work off"). I recommend hunting down 7/5 bonus poker at the quarter denom at Caesars Palace -- single line.

At this point I've considered what I'm going to do (not very much because a couple hundred dollars isn't too big a deal for me unless I drop a couple of bills on the ground). Many of you like Julian have helped me, although I don't care how the casino expects me to use this for more than one person and pay much more or use this for just me and take a lot less. I decided to use the $225 free-play. And even if I win $180k (9 RFs in a row), I probably would still not pay $400 for a single meal just for myself. However if I was with a group of friends who gamble, I might buy them dinner, but I am travelling solo this time.

Yes, if the offer is one sitting vs a $400 resort food credit to be used over the course of your stay - that does change the answer a bit.

For a one time use, I would always take the same amount if FP. I can eat at White Castle in Casino Royale if I really get hungry.

Either way, the results of both will be left in the casino.

I would go with the food comp over freeplay. If the amount was the same I might pick freeplay.

Agreed - if you do not get back end comps, take the food.

Since you play enough to get that offer, take the food. Make sure you can use your F&B credit to dine where you want. I found out at MB that the F&B credit only applies to a handful of places and the nice steakhouse is not one of them.

Tax went up to 8.375 as of January. Still better than the 13 points your used to.

All depends on what makes one happy, but we would take the free play. We get more food/beverage comps than we can eat/drink:feedme::beer: every trip and currently have a balance over $2000 worth at various casinos. We are simple eaters not interested in $50.00 steaks or $100.00 bottles of wine.

My offers are $600 food at one seating OR $300 free play. I chose the free play. Be aware that not only is the food comp to be used at one time, BUT it's to be used at the 1st restaurant where you dine. Example: If you want to use the food comp at Mesa Grill---make sure this is the 1st restaurant where you dine. Others on this board have stated the same. Also, this ''rule'' was relayed to me via CET customer service.

That's good to know. It would be horrible if someone was expecting to use a $600 food credit finding out it only covered the slice of pizza and coke he got at the beginning of the trip. Just make sure that the first meal you charge to the room is the one you want the food credit to apply.

There are only a few participating restaurants but you could still easily make the mistake in eating light at Giada’s for brunch and room charging and then going to GRSteak for supper. Oops!
