    My Trip Report

After a busy 2 days of meetings, it is time to kick off another trip to the promised land. This trip was originally planned for the last week of March but when a couple of friends wanted to tag along I moved it up, they'll be flying in after work Friday. I already had a work trip planned so what better than a free ride to Vegas :). I have to put a little bit of work in Thursday and Friday, but as Loverboy said: "Everybody's working for the weekend."

This trip will include some old-time favorites like Vue Bar video poker, craps, Heidi, Pizza Rock, Le Thai and beers from 777, Chicago, Banger, and Tenya Creek. We also hope to try a few firsts including (hopefully) Frankie's, Sam's Town (not a first for my friends), Hops Nuts, Able Baker, and Three Sheets brewing.

Flight leaves bright and early tomorrow at 6:30 am Central Time, until then...

Austin TSA and SWA bag check was crazy busy not sure why. Made it to the gate with coffee about 5 min before boarding started. Flight is on time and should be smooth, 3 hours to go.

Made it to the The D, tried to check in but apparently they are switching computer systems and they can’t check anybody in yet. Putting in a couple of hours of work followed by lunch and probably video poker at the Vue Bar!

Good Luck! Love the D, its my favorite spot in Vegas. My favorite spot in the world may be the end machines at the Vue Bar, closest to the escalator entrance.

Work is done, Time for lunch. Decided to try something and ended up at Bocho Sushi in Fremont East. I got the Sushi combo, with a spicy tuna roll and an assortment of sushi It was all very good and I would highly recommend a visit.

An hour and half and $100 later we finally have our first 4OAK. Hopefully the first of many.

The first $100 was drained pretty quickly with only $500 of C/I. I didn’t hit a single 4OAK. The second went a lot better ending up $14 with $1000 C/I. I finished that second session with my 2nd 4OAK (10’s) of the trip.

Now waiting in a ridiculous line to check in.

Close to an hour, and an ill-fated, degen $20 in a slot machine later I'm finally checked in. The $20 trick got me into a corner king on (the relatively) quiet side. Resting for a bit and thinking about heading to the MSS or Cal for some more VP and dinner.

Ok back at, went down to Banger for a beer and some fries from Food Junkie. Sadly Food Junkie is no more :(. I had the Perfect 10, a pale ale. It was good, not great probably a 7/10. On my way now to MSS for some coin dropper VP.

Put $20 through a BP upright with no joy, moved to Boar’s head (for the first time ever) and hit this beauty and my first ever scratcher before they even brought me my red ale. Beer, 4OAK, scratchers, I can see why people like Boar’s head :)

Well after some ups and downs, Boar’s head also ended up being a bust, but not until I got a Carlsbad IPA our of them. That beer was definitely my favorite of the night. MSS took $38...I’ll be back. Decided to use some of my F&B at The D Grill and got the Steak sandwich. It was supposed to be medium, alas it was not. It was still good and hit the spot. Next up more VP at The Vue bar, after that maybe some slots or craps!

The $100 I put into Vue bar lasted an hour and for $1280 C/I, but I eventually busted out. Decided to hit the slots and hit this beauty on a $0.75 bet.

Wow, the slots are really paying out for me today. Hit a Witch Bonus for $108.00 again on a $0.75 bet, and just hit a mini in the hold and spin for a $155 bonus on Lightning Link Moon Race off of $20 of free play

Back in the room now. Craps turned into Blackjack which was a well-fought battle. I was in for $500 and out for $433, After about 3 hours I was only down about $67 dollars (including dealer and waitress tips.) I fled after the table was overrun by friends of a higher-up at The D. They didn't quite understand how blackjack or table games work and I took that as my cue to leave. I made a brief visit to Vue bar but decided bed was a better decision after breaking even. Overall I'm up for the day around $175 total, and around $60 after all casino/hotel staff tips and incidentals, which is awesome.

Tune in tomorrow for some more video poker, slot and hopefully craps action.
