It’s a good thing I took two trips last year because my annual Easter trip for this year is canceled. Normally it depresses me to cancel but I’m starting a new job with the state in March and while I can’t take time off for a vacation until Iv been there a year, I build up plenty of time off for next year between normal time off and comp time.

As bad as the last couple trips have been for the wallet it maybe a blessing to not go this time

Don't blame ya! I guess I'm unlike many here- having seen the shows I want to see, lost more money than I ever wanted to, the allure is no longer that strong. Travel is a PITA to boot.

I agree it’s not what it use to be for me either. I told the kids we will just use my days off and go camping as mini vacations together.

Taking a break from Vegas is never a bad idea especially after the whipping you took. Go enjoy life and when the urge hits, scratch it.

Despite 100+ trips, we've had some interludes -- 3+ years once.. Life goes on either way, no difference. Just do what you want to do and enjoy it!!

I'm in a similar boat to you, just bought a new car and my wife wants to buy a new house, but, even if I have just a few pennies in my pocket, I'm still going back end of May/June as I need something to break up the year haha. Either way, hope the new job goes well for ya!

Very true. I have been hitting up my local, only $100 at a time every week or so, using that to cure my gambling itch.

No sane person will do the profession I am joining, so yep. But on the flip, maybe next year I will have that "fire" when I get there again.

Thats a long time. I have had a hiatus like that once, It seemed like forever.

I think the camping trips will make the kids happy. They typically don't do trips with me because they are underage but camping is a nice family event.

I hear there is a new virus all over the news?

For me its not the money, its the time. When I went in December with my buddy, it reminded me why I don't like short trips. I like a 6-7 day trip and just wont have the time.

Bully for you!!! My parents have been gone for several years and our camping excursions ended decades ago, but we still talked about those weekends and trips to their last days and I still think about those many experiences and will until the end.

I took 3 years off and now I miss it so I am going again in a few months but I cannot go and continue to do the same things every trip.

When your vacation becomes "routine" like mine tend to do, it is time for a break or a new destination.

I used to be like others who try to visit the same places/restaurants every visit but I need to try new things and different hotels to keep myself interested.

I'm having a surgery that is going to keep me from flying for a couple months. I'm not that keen on driving through the desert in the hot summer months either. Not sure when I'll be back. I know it will be waiting when I'm ready though. :)

No harm in taking a break when you aren't feeling it.

Vegas will be there when you are ready to go back. Trust me when I say they always leave the lights on. Best of luck on the new job.

I try to do something totally different each trip.

This trip it will be Paint With a Dolphin & lunch at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant.

Previously it was things such as--
Behind the scenes tour of Flamingo
    5k in RnR Marathon
Meet & Greet with a dolphin
    Grand Canyon Heli flight
    Strip at night heli flight
    Boneyard both Day & Night
    Linq wheel
    Mob Museum
    etc etc etc

It may only be one new thing a trip but as I have gone on I have tried to make it a 'bigger' new thing while I consider a different show a 'smaller' new thing. I definitely still do the 'same old' things and eat at the same old places too lol!!

I know as I got older and retired, the allured really was not as strong. Vegas changed and I changed. But, I would still do one trip per year.

I think the truism here is that Vegas will be there waiting for you/us!
