Going back down(town)! A 3-day Bender with Pics. DTG (maybe Palazzo) 2/27 - 2/29

The ole February 30th trip. That should be one of a kind.

 

Ok, going to give this another try...

Despite this beautiful heat wave we are currently enjoying in southwest Ohio...



I find the call to enjoy the weather out west in the promised land.

Originally my plan was to go to Vegas to celebrate my favorite March tradition:




and to watch my Flyers in the tournament. But unfortunately work demands indicate there will be no non-work travel for me in March. It looked like I would miss out on my spring trip entirely, but then came the notice of a cancelled deposition this Friday and with some flexibility I could squeeze in a quick trip to Vegas!



So here I am at the office, feverishly working to get enough done to leave early and begin a mini vacation.

Although this trip is much shorter than what I'm used to (barely 3 nights) I am really looking forward to it and having all my PTO around the holidays cancelled last year due to accepting a new position I am really in need of an opportunity to blow off steam. And I know what you're thinking for those of you not born yesterday and/or not new to the forum. "Fuzzy, you've never completed a trip report in your life". And you'd be right. My typical TR survives for about 72 hours because once the booze hits my lips I lose track of time and forgot to keep up with the TR.



So in that regard maybe a shorter TR has a shot.

Before I get too long-winded, here's the basic summary:

6:50 am direct flight out of CVG Thursday morning (90 minutes from my house - meaning a 300 am wakeup)

3 night stay at DTG - also have comp offers at Palazzo and most CET properties. I am considering a last minute switch to the strip to better accommodate the Friday night meetup, but DTG really went out of its way to switch my offer at the last minute and I want to reward the tremendous service from my host.

11:10 pm red-eye flight Sat night to CVG (landing 540 am)

So in many ways its a 2 night trip since I'll only actually sleep in the room Thurs/Fri - but for me its easier to take a red eye Sat night then try and wake up to catch an early morning flight back to Ohio.

My goals on the trip:

(1) Gamble, gamble, gamble - I am hoping to give enough play at DTG as well as the D and GG to seed decent suite (or sweet) offers once Circa opens up as well as DTG's new tower.
(2) Continue collecting my chips from DT properties - I'm still missing a lot, including some I got last time and then lost in my drunkenness
(3) Blow off a lot of steam - drink excessively, and meet some fun folks
(4) Play Pai Gow poker - never played but in reading about it seems like a good way to kill time and tread water.
(5) Lots of VP and sportsbets - going to try out Circa's betting app, or maybe William Hill's since WH has strip locations as well (and is in the DTG)
(6) Try and hit the Friday VMB meetup at the Dorsey
(7) Play lots of craps - and anyone on here who's around DT and wants to play hit me up.

Haha. I redeye out on the 29th, wasn't even thinking I am clearly NOT landing on the 30th! (It's been a long 2020 already) thanks for pointing out my brain fart!

I was about to begin my own "game" pre flight but your experience is giving me serious pause.

 

So here we are a mere 5 hours until I need to be up and on my way to CVG to catch my extremely early flight. We have snow here in SW Ohio but nothing is going to stop the Fuzzy train from getting in a quick Vegas trip! Work came close tonight but I stayed late and should be good to go, although its possible I may be putting in some work on the flight - while drinking of course.

Anyway, bags are packed and I'm about to crawl into bed, but here are the obligatory last minute shots.

First, the puppy. She's my best buddy and for a brief instant I considered changing plans and staying home with her this weekend. For anyone who was around for my October TR she was only a couple months old then, she's bigger now albeit still a giant puppy.



If she could have crawled into the suitcase she would have.

With the last minute nature of my change I had to convert my 1st Class seat to Comfort +, really I'd rather fly Comfort and save the $$, but I miss the "free drinks", although you still get them in Comfort+, just not as frequently, so I packed a baggie of these to ensure I catch a good buzz before landing. I'm only in Vegas for 3 days, I need to make sure I'm getting a jump start on the drinking!



Which brings me to these. I swear by this product and always have a nearly full bottle on hand for Vegas - if you run into me and need a couple let me know, I'll have extras!!



And on my wrist for the first time is this courtesy of @Sonya thanks again for the quick delivery. I just put it on to get it warmed up for tomorrow. If you see it, say hi!



So now I'm in bed with my pre-vegas entertainment.

Well made it. Weather this morning was ugly but pushed through.



Luna made one last ditch effort to get me to stay .



But now I'm settled into my comfort +.

Sounds like an bonafide blast! Gives me an even worse case of the Vegas Fever, which I am currently really suffering with. Go close em down!

I will photo dump later. For now, its been ugly down 500 on craps at DTG (hate this 1/2 table BS) and then down 100 on VP, but a nice hit on Cleo and I have a Europa League parlay outstanding.

See you there Nightshade!!!! Abilene is near Dallas right? Most my family lives in Dallas. My mom was the youngest of a career army family and was the only one to move to Ohio for my grandfather's final station - the rest stayed in Texas.
