I had almost forgotten this, but we were staying at Bellagio in a Fountain View room when Paris had it's massive power outage in November 2016. We couldn't figure out why only the Eiffel Tower was lit and why there was a constant stream of vehicles leaving out of the drive. It wasn't until the next morning that we found out the reason.

Was there for the shoot-out between two cars on the strip that caused an explosion of a cab. Strip shut down for almost the entire next day.

Filming of "Get Him to the Greek" at P-Ho.

I was at the margaritaville rooftop bar in the summer of 2018 when Travis Pastrana recreated Evel Knievels jump of the Caesars fountains. We waited a few hours and it was in the 100s as usual during the summer in vegas but the beer was flowing so that made it more bearable. I enjoyed watching him ride down the strip with police escorts doing wheelies and burning out. The jump was cool but I dont think it posed much of a challenge to him since he cleared it with ease.

Same. Flight landed at 9:58. I believe there was only one flight to land after ours prior to the shooting beginning. I was in my uncles car recording “Finally Back to my Happy Place” in my Snap story...it was a video of MB as we passed it. The time was 10:21pm that’s when we noticed about 10 fire/ambos/cops get off the freeway & head south...we got to Harrahs and that’s when my uncle got the word from his brother (local) I went to find my husband and brother who were already there...told them there was a shooting at MB, the floors/dealers heard us and that’s when we all tried to figure out what was happening....I then went to get a drink, sit at a machine and about 11:45pm a MAD rush of people screaming, ran through the casino...I panicked....ran with the masses back of house & I made the phone call no parent wants to make.. I hate replaying it. But we had NO idea what was happening. So I called my MIL and told her to turn on the news & if anything happens make sure our kids know we love them & don’t split them up, please take care of them.
It brings back the worst memories for me and I never want to leave my kids again. After about 25 mins behind the stairs the group was told to go to our rooms or the Event Center so we went to our room, with a couple who didn’t want to be with a bunch of people sitting ducks....so we sat in our room until security let us go to the casino around 3:30am.

That’s when I witnessed the strip empty....it was crazy to walk the strip for about 5 mins with no one. My friend wanted to play craps and since the casino was empty, we did that. That’s when I learned that all of the employees (every casino) just took part in a mandatory Active Shooter training the week prior. Craps dealer tells me no one followed the active shooter protocol they just learned like 4 days ago!
What a convenient time for an active shooter...

Whatever. I don’t plan on going back for a while....I miss it, every day I read TRs and wish I was able to just let that all go...some day...

Ate at Dupar's two hours before they closed forever.

    Attended opening night at Wynn.

One of the strangest things to me though is how often I've been to Las Vegas when it rains. At least one out of ten trips. What are the chances of that in the desert? One of those times I was staying at Imperial Palace so got to see the river going through the parking garage.

Oh, and I was the last person to get food poisoned at The Boardwalk buffet. Okay, I made that one up.

I've never been there during anything as serious as some of the other events listed here. The best I've got is that I was at the Britney Spears concert at PH when she had the "wardrobe malfunction." Her top came off during one number. It was incredible how quickly her backup dancers surrounded her and in a split second, one of the male dancers took off his shirt and she put it on. All without missing a beat. It almost looked like it was choreographed that way. We were impressed.

The next morning, we were at the airport and I pull up the news on my phone. One of Yahoo's lead stories was the wardrobe malfunction. I certainly wasn't expecting that. It must have been a slow news day.

nope, that's Yahoo "news" for you... if every country on earth signed a 100 year peace agreement they still would have had Britney as the #1 story, and if Madonna was filmed spilling her coffee that would have been story number 2!

I saw the Western Conference Champions banner being raised for the Golden Knights. Very theatrical game starter with The Knight slaying all of these little people wearing Flyers sweaters.

2 and a half hours later, Philly wins 5 - 3, chase Fluery, Simmonds 2 goals, Van Riemsdyk scores in his second debut with the Flyers, the Flyers back check the crap out of Vegas, and I won $500 from the Cosmo Sports Book.

It was the same weekend of the McGregor fight and the town was packed.

I hate, hate, HATE the game of one-up. That said...

    upload_2020-2-24_12-53-32.png

I always seem to get bad weather in Las Vegas. This was late last April. We were there for five days in April a couple of years earlier and it rained for three days straight through. Super Bowl 2019 had on-and-off rain on the Monday after the game.

Even my first "modern" trip for our honeymoon in October 2005 was marred by rain as I got rear-ended as someone skated to a stop in heavy rain.

This Super Bowl Monday I avoided rain and woke to wind chills in the 20s...

    Sorry. I won't one-up anymore. :wink2:

I was there for that. Staying at the Linq. Can’t remember what I was doing during the actual fire though.

I was there when Stardust was imploded. Sad day.
Our karate organization had a few world tournaments there.

Stranded there on 9/11. I got to the rental car place and they had two cars left. Jumped in the Ford Expedition and drove 3 days to Maine. Got stopped in Utah by state troopers, where they had me spread eagle against the car and padded me down. They didn’t know what to do, so they were randomly stopping people. It didn’t bother me a bit, as I told them to do what they gotta do. Weird trip, like a convoy of people on the roads trying to get home.

I was standing in the Flamingo when we lit up Iraq. All TVs were showing the rockets blowing up the desert. Everyone was cheering to the long awaited payback to 9/11.

New Years Eve 1999 - This particular clusterfuck of "flexible pricing" a.k.a price gouging, insane crowds, and just unbearable amounts of cocksuckery from all forms of life, made me swear off LV on NYE forever...a promise I have kept til this day...I understand that it was a huge NYE as far as NYE's are concerned, but it was the most miserable time I've ever had in Las Vegas. .

March 2007 - The Implosion of The Stardust. That was my favorite hotel.:(. I wasn't able to take a trip in 2006, for one last stay because I was saving for our wedding..so at least I got to say goodbye.

November 2009 - Gino from Tampa of Vegas Message Board fame shit his pants on Fremont Street after a particularly gluttonous meal at Vic and Anthonys...

When I lived in Minneapolis, a girl that I worked with (and played with occasionally), moved to Las Vegas. In 2003, I visited town, and went to her place to pick her up - I had tickets to see Penn and Teller that night and was taking her with. She was living along the fairway on a golf course on the west side of town, Badlands I think it was. While I was at her place, I stepped on to her patio to have a smoke, and on the patio next door was a blond knockout (longest legs I have ever seen) sun bathing in her birthday suit. She waved and said "hi". I waved back, finished my cigarette, and when I went back inside and mentioned her to my date, she told me that was her neighbor, and that she danced in Siegfried and Roy's magic show. That's why she sunbathed in the nude - she wasn't allowed to have tan lines.

Anyway, we headed into town, had dinner and a few drinks, and made our way to the Penn and Teller show at the Rio. As we were leaving the show, my date turned her phone back on, and she mentioned it was blowing up with voice mail messages from her neighbor (the same blond I had met earlier that day). We found a quiet spot, and my date called her back. Turns out, that was the night that Roy was mauled by a tiger on stage, and my date's neighbor was totally freaked out. Poor thing lost her job too.

Not exactly iconic but during the power outage at CES it was pretty much an ‚experience‘. I‘m sure everybody who was there when the lights shut down knows what I‘m talking about.
