    Hey peeps,
    Random question for you all.....

Does the value of the comp you take worry you at all (a conscience thing :D ) ??

ie: i am no High Roller.. I dropped from Plat to Pearl in Oct just gone..
in 4 days in Oct, i earned just 12k tier credit, which i think is pretty low given my play time, but hey ho, thats what the system records (blackjack and $6 slots) ..... (despite me coming home with $1 !! :D )

Prior, my offers were like $250/$300FP / $1500/$200RC, and suites in any hotel (salone in Bell...)
I figured offers for this year would reduce the level of suites offered...

Offers are the same, with higher FP/RC ($400/$350rc )
corner suite in aria to skyview suite in MB , 2bedroom suite in delano, etc for 4 nights....
and my usual fave, all suites excl penthouse in Lux (lux is our fave place!).

a weekend stay in june in MB skyview = $2000 value (according to the mlife room selection)

I'll play in MB, as well as the other mlife prop's each day/night , but probably not to the coin-in value as they expect on a $2k comp .....

So on that note, would you worry ? or just get the goodies, hit the mlife casino's, spend your $$$ , hope you fly home with tons of cash at the end, and not care if you accumalated over $15 of express comp based on your BJ / slot play ........ ? :)

Good question and as I cannot go so often due to the distance, I am starting over most of the time. So my answer is I don't really care. I give Mlife my play, get some free nights and just do my thing and try to win on mostly blackjack, some craps, a little slots and a little roulette. Many moons ago there was a thread here about comping yourself which was to reduce your gambling budget and just play and pay as needed, of course any free nights will help as will free play and back end comps to get rid of those awful rip-off resort fees, but I am in the comp yourself camp and it has worked well my last 4 trips - 2019 was my only losing trip. in the last 7 years.

It certainly doesn’t bother my conscience to take anything and everything a casino will offer me.

I do, however, carefully consider when and where I set foot in a casino because I generally DO care what that casino is going to offer me in the future based on what I do today.

cool cool, i value peoples opinions, no matter the reply! :)

Been comped since 2015, and go twice a year....
i feel i dont spend much, but i guess i must do as i went pearl to plat in 1 year, and plat to pearl the year after ! :D :D (casino play)...
I suppose its a gamble either way, a gamble for the casino to provide a bling suite in hope i lose all my money, and a gamble for me to even just play in there casino's ....
Usually stay at the Lux, but would be nice to try new (we hit 4 stays per year at mlife property)
I spend more in the casino i am staying at ....

    Absolutely not.

Except for teasers, offers are a reward for past play. If they temporarily get inflated due to market conditions or marketing strategy, that's the casino's decision and not my problem, I didn't ask for it or tell them I was going to play more.

I take whatever they're willing to give, and play my normal level without thinking for a second about changing it just because I might end up being overcomped on a single trip.

Your offers reflect your play - think about it like this: your eligibility for a room X on NYE/fight night is different (without offending you but based on the offers you mentioned) than during a slow weekend. Given that, take the increased offers and do your regular play - why should it result in lower future offers if a similar play brought you those. The increase is most likely due to a change in marketing, at least for me thew new offers all comp me in suites at Bellagio/Aria, f&b but freeplay increased by 500 usd from my previous offer. It is a demand and supply thing no need to worry about taking advantage of a better offer!

I know exactly how you feel.

Yes. I stay in rooms that are around my level. The only difference that I have noticed is that my FP/RC have gone way up during this time.

I’m on my 3rd amazing offer....I will keep taking the lesser room.

I visited every month, sometime more than once per month.
Never worried or even thought about comp value.
If comp drops, I just pick the best one among the offers I received from all the casinos.

Comp Value is the ONLY thing that determines whether or not I go. For me, if it's not AT LEAST

    room
$300-400 FP or a comparable merchandise comp

    I just pass.

Every single trip I go in with the attitude that I am going to play whatever amount is fun for me and try my best to win, or at least have a great time, and they could back-end charge my credit card for all the comps worst-case and it would probably mean that I played very little and won big. I also assume they are going to way under-rate under-comp me for my play anyway.

Going in with the attitude that worst case they back bill me for the comp and i'm fine with that frees me up to enjoy and play as much or as little as I please, and that has been a recipe for far more winning trips than before. Concentrating play at 2 primary properties has also been a huge benefit for me.

I am with you on this... I have also started adding up the free play and room comp value etc... to personally figure out the total comps per trip. That has made me feel even better about my actual cash used versus what I consider as actual comps used.

And don’t forget: you don’t need 2000 in comps to cover everything as the casino gets charged way lower rates from the hotel!

The comp value is not the price that you would pay when you book yourself.

Good advice here. I am not scared to stay at the room "I WANT" or the best offer sent to me. I have milked comps at Caesars when my play didn't justify my offered comps there. My offers dried a little but from time to time because of that but I eventually get comped above my play again.

MOST importantly is that I played how I wanted and accepted comps that far exceeded my play whenever I wanted. All I care about when I play is fun and not any contingencies in regards to future comps.

There are many people with good advice however if you do want to play with "comp values" in mind. The beauty is that to each their own.

    Good luck!

I typically do. I usually try to take a comp based on the bankroll I plan on bringing, at least as far as room type and property. Being a free play slut, I'll take as much as they want to give me. A few years ago, I had offers from Bellagio for the Cypress, Penthouse suites, etc. I ended up cancelling that trip due to work, but I think I had the Bellagio suite booked. Just couldn't bring myself to take one of the high end suites.

This year is a different story as I plan on sucking M Life dry :). Just kidding. Kind of. I have a the 2 bedroom panoramic suite booked over Memorial Day as my sister will be joining me. I have my M Life cruise booked for November. I did, however, only book a standard Nomad room for my September stay even though I was offered much nicer suites at other properties.

    cheers guys :) :)
I had a partial guilt feeling that i didnt spend enough on my last trip in Oct , or according to the play recorded i didnt spend enough (me flying home penniless confirms i spent lots! :D :D )

Might seem a daft question, but all the replies make sense... I guess, overall, the offers would reduce if i wasnt the spending the money/time ..
Might as well book that sky suite in MB then ! :D

I had a similar fear of not living up to casino expectations when staying on a comp. I am staying in a tower suite at Aria in April. This is the first time I will ever have stayed on a comp. From what I have been told by others, the casino will not go back and try to collect or charge your credit card if you don’t play as much as they expect. Worst case scenario your future offers may be reduced or dry up completely.

Yeah, I always thought comps were a combination of a "reward" for recent play and an incentive to keep you playing at the same or higher level... if you don't continue playing at that level then the comps dry up or are just of lesser value. I'd never felt guilty about not playing enough for a comp - if you've been comped in most cases you've already "paid" for it!

    Yes.

The main reason for an upfront comp is simple business. The casino is willing to gamble themselves. The are betting if they give $50 or $5,000 worth of stuff that you will drop that amount and more. Especially the MORE part. They are a business. They do not love you or care about you. They just want you to keep coming back and they make a good effort to get you to do that.

And that is fine. I self justify my trips by saying I would am okay to spend $300 a day (an example) for a room and some food. But, since they cover it, I am fine dropping $300 or so in hopes of financial gain, fun and simple pleasure. And, I also understand if my average play drops, they will adjust how much they are willing to "gamble" on my return.
