I know everyone has their different preference, but I thought I'd just put my options out there and see if there is a consensus! I have stayed before at the Cosmopolitan, Vdara and the Mirage. Our next trip we are currently staying 8 nights in the Luxor, 4 comped. My wife has similar offer, so we are going to swap our last 2 nights in the Luxor (which we are paying for) to another MGM property that we can get comped, potentially one we haven't stayed in before. Our options are: NoMad ParkMGM NYNY MGM Grand Delano The Mirage Mandalay Bay Suppose some of the factors to weigh up include location on Strip (should we move up to the Mirage after 6 nights down at the Luxor), food and drink options (NYNY / ParkMGM has the Park area with the arena), and rooms (I assume NoMad and ParkMGM rooms are fresh and new). I had read that ParkMGM is not so great although rooms are 'fresh and new'. NoMad is upperscale so maybe give that a try. I too tend to stay at Cosmo/Vdara but have stayed at Manbay which was ok since it was almost free. I'll be coming in this wk and staying at Vdara since i got a double deal pretty much - discount on room and 1 night comped, cant beat that.
Even though you've stayed there before, I'd probably go with Mirage to spend time on a different section of the strip. For the others on your list, I'd go with NoMad for boutique hotel feel and great location (for me at least). NoMad has become my personal preference, and I've really come to like the ParkMGM casino as well. I'd originally booked my March trip for Vdara (being tempted by a panoramic suite), but just switched it to NoMad. It'll be my fourth stay at NoMad. My other recommendation would be Delano to get a full suite in a smaller property, and it would be a short walk from Luxor. If you're a pool person, Delano gets you the MB pool complex. If Delano was in a different location it'd probably be top of my list for every trip (scenic suite being my preferred room choice there). I'd also recommend going to Youtube and searching for room tour videos to get the feel of each. It's how I originally started out making the decisions between properties, before staying at each and working out which I prefer.
Another Nomad fan. I've always stayed at Aria when I'm doing MLife, but after staying at Nomad over Xmas I'm a big fan. Same as Ken, I really like the casino layout, and slots choice, too.
Note that my views are predicated by: 1)I don't like walking. I can, but prefer to drive, so location to the valet is important for me. 2)I don't spend that much time in the room, primarily to sleep, but Park MGMs room layout leaves a lot to be desired. 3)I sleep like a rock, so room noise has the be "of epic proportions" to bother me 4)I don't pay much attention to room decor unless it hasn't been updated since the 70's, like Harrahs Mountain tower before the upgrade. I have stayed at Park MGM a few times in the last 6 months. Pros Almost 100% kiosk check in Reasonably close to valet parking A wide variety of restaurants, including The NoMad restaurant (roast chicken to die for), read my review in the restaurant section Bavette's Steak House, read my review "Convenient" tram access, detailed here https://www.vegas.com/transportation/las-vegas-monorails/ Cons Almost 100% kiosk check in (if you're technologically challenged) in many rooms the TVs are 90 degrees to the bed. To walk from the hotel lobby to the strip you must walk through the entire casino No buffet MGM Grand is my second choice, depending on if I get comped there. Pros A wide variety of restaurants, including a buffet The largest casino floor space of any mLife casino, with lots of shopping and attractions Lots of entertainment, including David Copperfield and Ka' Cons It a 'huge" property, and may be daunting for some To walk from the hotel lobby to the strip you must walk a lot of the casino The only room upgrade from standard to suite are the StayWell rooms, which I think are a rip-off. Getting down to my LEAST favorite mLife property, Mirage Pros Lots of entertainment and dining selection Close to "center strip, walkable to V/P and Wynn, Caesars Palace, and Harrahs Tram to Treasure Island Cons The hotel rooms are set in the BACK of the property The hallways are LONG. I got put in the end room of the hallway once, and that convinced me to limit my casino time.
Delano is a nice option. Although not if you are looking to try a different area of the strip-it's very close to Luxor. But the rooms are spacious with a separate living room are and 1 1/2 baths. All of the Mandalay Bay restaurants, spa and pools are available to you plus Delano has its own pool and spa if you want a quieter atmosphere. Delano Uber/Lyft area is easily accessible.
Depends on priorities, and season. If you're pool people and its pool season, move nextdoor to Delano If you're determined to walk around Strip, see other things, move up to Mirage If you want a change of pace, to wind down a bit, move to Nomad
My $.02 based only on the places I've actually stayed on your list and the fact you're at Luxor for the first part of the trip - The Mirage - Nice rooms, fun casino, and the location is a huge change of scenery vs Luxor. You're on the other end of the strip and I would choose here for that reason alone. High end places close by, Casino Royal close by if you're looking to slum it. My vote as the winner. NoMad / ParkMGM -- If you're going to do either of these, do NoMad. Everything is equal except the rooms are a touch nicer. No reason to do ParkMGM if its comped. NYNY -- I would put this behind both MoMad and Park MGM based on location... you're closer to where your home base was at Luxor; food internal to the resort is worse than the above option / "The Park" MGM Grand - I don't see a benefit of staying at MGM vs any of the others except Monorail access. If thats important, then I think you could leapfrog the others Delano / Mandalay Bay - You're going the wrong way.
@pd54 based on your count down, looks like your trip is starting late August. Is the pool important to you? If yes, MGM Grand or Delano/Mandalay would be good choices. Both have huge pool areas, big casinos & good restaurant selections (but pricey). I’m not a Mirage person but it is center strip & more lively if you plan on walking around outside your hotel.
If staying at Luxor and want to move I would suggest Mirage. As others have said its way further north on the strip and within easy access to other high end properties. For x days just hang out south strip and then move north strip and move around there.
The Mirage - You'll be so bored with the South portion of the strip entering Day 9 of your trip. Still like the main property, their rooms are small but there is plenty to do in the North/Center strip. Would suggest you move to South Strip (or downtown / Summerlin / Henderson) if the role was reversed and you spent the first eight days at the Mirage. After over a week, you will be glad you did. Eight Days in South Strip / Luxor = I don't give a damn, bout the same old played out scenes....
