We look forward to finally settling down a bit and stocking up on pups. One lab. One malamute. One Bernese mountain dog or a Newfie.

We have a senior golden and a yellow lab now. Have notifications set up from the local shelter for anytime a Great Dane, Newfoundland, Great Dane, Collie, or Golden come in !! Love the large and giant breeds!

My town has gone thru a drastic " Gentrification"....
The old brick, deserted warehouses - are all million dollar apartments, now
    And last week -
I saw some clown walking that poodle down Main St -
    I thought....?
    " When I first moved here..........you wouldn't make it a block......with that dog."
    Show Dogs are invading............help !

Liking dogs with a more natural look is just an opinion, even if the facts dictate that they are shaved a certain way for a reason. That would not have been my favorite dog of the show had I watched it, but it was judged to be the best.

I've read the whole thread and my opinion hasn't changed though I have become a little more educated on the subject.

Off the subject a bit...we have three dogs right now and one thing I would do different is not get them all around the same time where they go through "old age" together. I am up twice a night (or more) making sure they are okay...they are all 15 or older (Chocolate Lab and two Rat Terriers).

Every breed has a rationale for its existence, or for its particular bodily conformation, or for the way it is presented. With apologies to our leader, the poodle cut is among the biggest rationalizations of all, and it makes a noble breed look ridiculous. One would never guess from looking at them that poodles are actually fine dogs as a general rule. There were at least two better choices for BIS in my opinion, neither of which breed has ever won Westminster, nor is either breed ever likely to win. You will find no bigger set of snobs anywhere than dog show people, and frequently the winner is known to all before any dog enters the ring. Yet it is fun to watch the show anyway.

I like poodles. They are at least a full sized athletic dog.

Cant stand it when one of those little ones win. Just seems like the fix is in when that happens.

We refer to those little dogs as "toilet bowl brushes" except for the naked ones, which would seem to have no use at all. In all fairness, though, some small dogs are just fine. Well, except miniature Schnauzers. No hope there.
