I'm thinking of switching from a tower room at Luxor, to a room at NYNY. I've never stayed at NYNY, but I like the vibe of the casino and the location is better than Luxor. In addition, the craps tables aren't as ridiculously long at NYNY, as they are at Luxor. Would anyone care to share room experiences, or provide room photos they'd like to share?

    Thanks.

Here's a walkthrough of a Madison Avenue King room I had late last year

Spooky timing for this thread, as I am debating booking at NYNY for my 2nd MLife hotel in the summer :)

I was going Luxor, but a friend of mine will be at Cosmo, and I want to be a bit closer to midstrip.

I am at Nomad for the first 9 nights, so wouldn't mind a change of scenery, and NYNY looked like a good option.

Some rooms are in need of renovation. The one I stayed in last month was definitely showing age. But the one I stayed in last spring was fine.

Can let you know in 17 days :haha:

We have stayed there a couple of times before, although not for a few years now. The rooms were 'lived in' but fine for us.

I prefer the Luxor Tower rooms myself.

I've stayed in the Luxor Tower twice, and NY-NY Madison Ave once.

The NY-NY rooms were a bit musty/moldy-smelling to me. The first room we were assigned had cigar debris in the toilet and a cigar smoke smell in the bathroom (non-smoking room), got switched to a different room because of this. The second room didn't have any "surprise" issues, aside from a similar musty smell (not cigar smell), but the availability of accessible power outlets was pretty poor.

NY-NY Madison Ave rooms both had tub shower combos, whereas Luxor has the walk-in shower with separate tub.

If given two room keys, one for a Luxor Tower room and one for an NY-NY Madison Ave room and someone said "choose", I'd take the Luxor Tower room key.

I've stayed there a lot over the years and have really enjoyed it. Some rooms may need renovations but that has never been an issue for me. The Madison Ave. rooms are a little bit larger/nicer than the Park Ave. rooms, but, I actually prefer the Park Ave. rooms a little bit more. The only reason why is because the Park Ave. rooms more outlets, including near the bed. My last Madison Ave. only had one outlet not in the bathroom and it was near the window. I would recommend the NYNY to about anyone. They pack a whole lot of fun into a smaller property and I've never had a bad time when I've stayed there. Good restaurants and lively bars, easy access out to the strip, and it always seems lively inside at nights. The only thing I say you may not like is that the pool isn't great. The bartenders are great and it usually has some decent tunes playing, but, it's pretty standard on everything else. It does have the "bench" that runs all the way around it, so it's easy to get a chair and just hop in right in front of your stuff to chill. Sun/shade can be found at anytime of the day, but, you may have to move around during the day.

There's some pics of the Madison Ave. room in the trip report below.

Having a walk-in shower, and a separate tub is a big deal, and one of the reasons I've never considered NYNY before.

I booked Luxor because I could get all the 1br tower suites comped, and only the standard room at NYNY. The refresh gives me a spa suite option, and as that has both I am considering moving back up the strip a bit.

All this pondering... I'll probably end up going Nomad - TBC - ParkMGM :evillaugh:

I like the NYNY pool for the same reason others would dislike it-lots of shade!

I love NYNY. Yes some of the rooms are looking older with things like dings and scratches on corners of furniture but overall it is clean.I have stayed there three times and I love it and haven't had any concerns.

Plus its right next to the casino. I like to lay out by the pool for a little then go in and gambol.

At MGM the pool is too far to do this a few times a day.

I stayed there @ two years ago and found my room in need of a Reno then. I can’t remember which tower. I was solo so it didn’t matter much. I did enjoy the casino very much though.

If mgm, puts this next on their Reno list, it might be a popular place.

I’ve two separate groups of guys I’m contemplating organizing a fall trip with. One group has $$$ and other group regular guys. I am leaning towards nyny if I do the regular guys due the vibe of the casino and price point for room. The other group would definitely want a step up in room quality and for them, no such thing as a budget!

I really do like the vibe of the casino! It reminds me of PH in some ways.
