Rumor - Battista's Hole in the wall to close!

I was a bit surprised about the mention that they need to renew their lease in 2020. I thought their large signage indicated they had a ton of years left on their lease. When I used to ride the monorail I always took note of it.

 

The article states that Battista's lease is up in 2020, and the Stage Door (who always bragged about their long lease on their sign) is in place until 2030. (They are two separate businesses).

FWIW, I'm one of the ones that will be sad to see Battista's go. Of course one doesn't go in there for a great meal. If you approach the experience with a few friends and a bit of mirth in your soul, it can be a very fun time.

 

Stage Door still has a number of years. Stage Door is a unique place that offers value and a friendly environment - after the decline of Casino Royale as a value place to have 5 beers, Stage Door is even nicer to have. It would be sadder for that to go.

 

You could have said that about CR forever. Big challenge with CR is the footprint is so small, no one can really build anything crazy there. It really only makes sense for CET to make it another Harrahs hotel tower or something like that. I'm not convinced I see the case for it to be sold. It probably makes a decent amount of coin. They're busy, they fill the rooms, etc.

 

Exactly. More kitsch than quality meal but a great time.

 

I forgot the the lease was up this year. Time flies! In a different market, the space would have been absorbed straight into CET.

 

Chicago Joe's is way better than "The Hole".

I went there on my first tip to Vegas. I think my expectations were too high. The wine gave me acid reflux.
Thankfully Fremont St provided the kind of old fashioned entertainment and style I had envisaged. I've never gone back to Battista's.

Still, I will pour out a beverage at its demise when I visit Stage Door & the convenience store (both of which I have been to many times).

 

I'm all for fun.

I just happen to be too Sicilian/Italian to mistake them for a legitimate ristorante.

I can always go to an amusement park, if I'm looking for fun, lol.
