Shutdown being considered for April 23-25 for NFL draft.

Good idea or a giant PITA for guests already booked for these dates?

Thankfully, we'll miss this by a day .

Sounds like something I will happily avoid! Although it could be fun to hear thousands of Jet fans moaning when they make the inevitable bad pick...

I mean, the dates have been uber expensive for a long time, so one would think not that many people booked in who don't want to be there for the draft.

    Should be a crazy party.

I thought about it at one point, but I hate the crowds, and my team has one pick in the first two days, and its gonna be the 32nd pick.

"NFL officials proposed that the red carpet for the NFL Draft be located on the iconic Bellagio Fountains. As a result, officials said, the NFL Draft prospects would be transported by boat to the red carpet.

Additionally, the main stage will be located next to Caesars Forum"

This is going to rival New Years Eve as far as impact to Strip traffic flow!

When I read a headline for this I said out loud: "please no".

Of all the events or spectacles, they are going to use Lake Bellagio for this? Not so much the traffic issue, but for decorum. Surely, there are plenty other venues for the draft that would accommodate a vast crowd.

    I'll be there. Can't wait.

One thing I will point out, which will make the logistics / travel particularly crazy is NAB is occuring the week before. NAB is Sunday 4/19 to Wednesday 4/21 and the NFL Draft is Thursday 4/22 to Saturday 4/24 which attracts over 100,000 attendees. This will put a lot of pressure on Srip resources.

NAB attracts over 100,000 attendees. The NFL Draft will probably attract more than 500,000 visitors.

Over 600,000 people attended the draft in Nashville last year. I have a feeling Vegas numbers will dwarf that figure.

I'm seeing stuff on Bleacher Report that the stage on the Bellagio fountains is confirmed.

I bet those rooms across the street are going to be hard to come by. Imagine sitting
comfortably in your room having a drinkie poo and watching with no crowds and no chaos.
There are some at Bally's that have that perfect view.

Something else to think about - if you are planning on going to Vegas in the fall, and your trip includes a Sunday stay, book early before the NFL announces the schedule for next season and the Raiders home weekends cause the room prices to jump.

More power to any of you who are interested in this...but I can't wrap my head around why anyone would want to be a part of it. Seems like an incredibly dull way to spend a day (multiple days) to me.

As always, different strokes for different folks!

    My sentiments exactly!
I am as big an NFL fan as anybody, however watching the draft is akin to watching paint dry.
Only the NFL could monetize a non-event like that.
I am coming in the sunday after and comped 5 nights. The week of the draft they are asking $2-300/ night.
Paying those prices to put with the aggravation is insane.

I'm in the minority around here for sure as I don't watch NFL at all but these plans for the draft look very cool. I bet gamedays will be a blast this season as well.
