Great TR, and I'm right there with ya on the "tunnel" fiasco with the cab driver. Did that myself, and when he told me his way was quicker/less traffic, I slunk down in my seat with my head down and a low "Okay....."

 

I never tell the cabbie "no tunnel" but I watch to see what direction they're going out of the airport and ASK if they don't head towards Paradise or Trop, depending on what hotel I'm aiming for....

 

Great TR I read it a work it helped make a dull day interesting. I guess I'm lucky in that the wife wants to gamble more than shop and whatever money we take to Vegas usually stays in Vegas; no questions asked.

 

The times I hit Vegas with my wife it's been alot of fun, just different. She's not much into gambling or shopping, so generally we find ourselves hiking and climbing some big red rocks somewhere in the desert or going on the wildlife tours (offered by most strip hotels). At night we'll split a nice bottle of cabernet over dinner and hit a show (usually a comedian or impersonator). We'll cap off our evenings with me giving her an extensive tuck-in and then me heading downstirs to hit the tables. Maxing out the Vegas experience is always a matter of finding common enjoyable ground, of which there is much....

BTW, enjoyable TR. And no, I found no snobbery here. Regardless, it's not nearly as bad as a reverse-snob.

 

That's why everyone needs a MissChips!!! Someone who wakes you up saying "Let's go, we're missing valuable poker time!!"

Hi All,

First off, I am honestly very flattered. I thought my first one was better, but that just proves something I already knew; if I had good taste people would be paying me for my opinions.

I just wanted to address a couple of things that have been brought up. First, I would be more than happy to share any of my insights/successes in convincing the Ms. to make another trip. However, I have to warn you that what works on my wife might not work on yours. In fact, if it works on my wife today at 2:00, it might not by tonight at 5:00.

Someone else suggested that I attend MM4 and be the designated scribe of the group. Here are my conditions. I will be forwarding an official contract once my agent, lawyer, and manager have made final approvals:

1) Send me a plane ticket.
2) Send me money for a room
3) Send me beer money
4) Send me beer money for while I am there
5) I guess I will need a notepad and pencil, or preferably a pen.
6) Sworn statements from each of you that no single documented item in said trip report will ever be disputed, since I can guarantee I will never use the notepad or pen while on site, and my beer brain ain't so reliable.
7) This is the most important one- convince my wife to let me go! I can assure you that of all the items listed, this will be the most costly, and difficult.

And hopefully this goes without saying-just because she was my whippingboy/girl in the story, I love her dearly. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!

Loved the TR! Altough it's my day off and I didn't get the pleasure of reading this at work, it helped drown out Dora the Explorer for a good part of the morning! I feel for you having to spend all that time waiting in front of shops. My husband usually has to spend most of his time pulling me away from a table!

 

Loved the report! Next time you're stuck shopping with the wife...take all those porn slapper cards and start sticking them in random pockets on the racks...and enjoy the thought of someone trying on that nice new jacket, reaching in and pulling out a slapper card.

 

GREAT trip report! Despite being the wife myself, I'm much more husband-like
according to your report! Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

just read this, REALLY enjoyed it, sad,funny, probably most honest report Ive ever read on here in last few years, you write well. I like to shop AND Gamble, Im usually game for just about whatever my broken body CAN do,ha,ha,ha and Im no whiner I have to say, but my husband and I make perfect travel mates, me Im the one who likes to stay up late late late, at home he has to get up so early, BUT on trips he will stay up late with me .Maybe you can find trips that make you both feel totally good about, me personaly I have to say my 12 year old would have had a better time than your spouse but were just that kind of family, we go for it and really live life to the hilt, very happy just to go somewhere.
