Can a Vegas trip be too short?

Let's assume the trip is free but due to commitments you can only be in Vegas for about 10 hours. Is it still worth going, under the premise that any time in Vegas is better than nothing. Or is there such a concept as being there for such a short time, makes it more painful to leave than if you had not gone at all?

    Thoughts?

Any time in Vegas can be fun, but you will certainly have to make adjustments vs a longer visit. I would recommend having a list of stuff to do so that you aren't "winging" it.

Have food lined out, as well as a show or two. Maybe visit some shops.

The problem I see with 10 hours (for me) would be lack of time to drink/party or even get to a room for a shower or power nap. My last day in Vegas is always a drag since I feel under the gun to do something and end up not getting much done at all.

We live about 250 miles away. Leave Friday night after work... get there about 11pm then come back Sunday night by 11 pm and go right back to work monday morning. That's about the min I would prefer to do. I wouldn't do it if it was 10hr trip. It's easier for me to just visit the indian casinos at that point.

But it depends OP give us more details? The post is very vague... driving? Flying? Etc?

Agree. All depends on how much hassle is involved in getting there. A one or two hour drive each way? Sure. For me it's a four hour flight and all of the headaches that entails, so no, definitely not worth that for 10 hours in Vegas.

This is one of those questions that all depends on how one does Vegas... I've become spoiled and wouldn't go unless I had a minimum of 3 nights.

For the first several trips we stayed three nights, and...it wasn't long enough. We then ventured into four night stays, and...it wasn't long enough. The last few trips we've upped our trips to five night stays, and (for now) baby bear says the porridge "is just right".

Shortest trip was many years ago on a SWA mega-sale for two nights and it seemed the tip was over before we even realized we were there...can't imagine a ten hour trip.

We've stayed in LV one night to break up a longer set of flights. That worked well and was only around 16 hours from wheels down to up.
Otherwise I'd say at least 48->72+ hours.
Makes a big difference if you are on the east coast, west coast or elsewhere.

Not sure there would be a minimum stay for me, but there is definitely a maximum- I can typically only handle 3 or 4 nights there before I get "fear and loathing" and need to leave :D

I will take a pass on a 10-hour trip, no matter the circumstances.

Totally worth it. When America West/USAir had LAS as a mini hub, I planned 4-6 hour layovers on the way back from the Midwest/East Coast. I did this maybe half a dozen times. “Missed” the connection once and wound up staying overnight, lol.

Yes, if all the time you have is to get from an arrival gate to a departure gate!

Five hour flight out, play craps at my favorite table, return with money in my pocket and sleep for five hours back. Sure.

I once went for the day. Landed about 9:30 am and I think the flight back was around 6pm.
Have a friend that lives in PHX. He would route himself home from work travel via LAS and" miss" his connecting flight to PHX.
Pick him up at the airport and the let the fun begin....

To enjoy your time in Vegas you need more than one day as on the first day you recover from packing, traveling, jet lag, or whatever other torture you went through to get there. So making a trip there for ten hours would only make sense if you just got in the car and got to Vegas quickly, say, from Laughlin, LOL.

Is it more painful to leave Vegas after a short time than to not go there at all? I don't feel that concept at all. Having gone to Vegas is more fun than not having gone to Vegas. I assume you planned something to do in such short time there, your favorite gambling activity, restaurant, relaxation, bar, whatever. The memory of having enjoyed Vegas for ten hours is better than just doing nothing, whatever the length of time.

It seems from your post that you have some commitments in the general area of planet earth where Vegas is located, and you could manage matters in a way that your activities would permit you to spend some ten hour in Vegas with no extra cost. If such is the case, and if that stay in Vegas does not imply too much of a logistic head ache, then I say it is worth it. In any case, I would do it.

I can think of a couple of scenarios that would make the 10 hrs worth going. If I lived within a reasonable driving distance to Vegas or if I was in the general area for some other reason like for business, visiting relatives, etc.

Although considering the hassle of having to fly to LAS from Chicago and dealing with the airlines, TSA, and whatnot, it wouldn't be worth spending just 10 hr in Vegas even if it was a freebie. For me, anything less than a week in Vegas would be too short. :D

10 hours is not even worth the effort. It would piss me off.

Where did you say your starting point was? 'Cause I ain't flying four hours across the country...parking in Vegas for 10 hours...and flying another four back home. Personally, the absolute minimum I'd do in Vegas would be one overnight. Then again, the maximum I'd do is three days, so there's that.

10 hours... yeah. Unless it wasn't my destination such as it's a layover or stop there while heading somewhere else. Not worth it.
