My brother and I are taking our 80 y.o. dad to Vegas for our annual trip in a couple of weeks. We stay at the El Cortez and do most of our gambling there or at the Golden Gate. This year we're interested in taking an Uber trip to an off-strip hotel/casino for some gambling and probably a meal. Dad doesn't like to play much higher than $5 craps. Any suggestions on what might be our best choice? Someplace with a unique restaurant beyond just a coffee shop would be preferable.

Sam's Town comes to mind. Interesting lay-out, liked by the over 70 crowd, low stakes. Orleans might also do the trick.

South Point - 11 restaurants to choose from and $5 craps all the time.

Ellis Island is also an option.

Gold Coast came to mind. Cheap gambling and good food.

Palace Station? You got Mumfresh for Bahn Mi and other food, and Boathouse for Asian. Their burger spot may be hit or miss but would love to here if someone has more recent reviews.

And don’t forget the Oyster Bar! Eat first if the line is short.

Next door is Biwon for AYCE Korean/sushi and In and out is close.

Their pizza is more than good. Not Pizza Rock but it rates well for NY style.

Your father sounds exactly like mine. Orleans, Gold Coast, Ellis Island come to mind.

There have been some good recommendations already, but I will add in Suncoast. Never had a problem getting on a table there whether day or evening; and, Du-par’s Restaurant & Bakery is on-site (open 24 hours).

This is why I love this site so much, I didn't know a "Suncoast" existed. Another one to visit.

Across the golf course from Suncoast is Rampart casino. It’s also just a few miles down the road from Red Rock.

Texas Station and Fiesta are on Rancho Drive, next to each other. Both offer 10x odds for craps. Not sure that they have any unique dining though (Texas might have a BBQ place).

I can't disagree with any of the opinions offered above, and I will add that I thoroughly enjoyed playing craps at Green Valley Ranch. They have a couple of $5 tables during the day. The crew was great. It probably didn't hurt that I walked away a winner.
The property is quite beautiful, with several restaurants including a Pizza Rock. Their restaurant options are here: https://greenvalleyranch.sclv.com/Dining

Probably the only reason I don't go there regularly is because it's kind of out of the way, but easily accessible via Uber/Lyft.

I would also recommend Silverton. $5 craps, good buffet, good restaurants. They have the huge life sized mermaid tank and the Bass Pro Shop attached.

I mapped out that Longhorn. I'm going to check it out on my next trip. I have not been to either Sams or Long Horn.

I like local places and spend most of my trips cruising around off-Strip. I love a lot of local casinos and their cafes but I think Longhorn is one of the dirtiest places in town. I wouldn't eat there when there are so many great, and clean, options to try.

Any idea what odds they offer on craps?

Just FYI, Longhorn doesn't have craps unless it was added very recently.
