Replenish my "stash". Yea, lots of other states have it, but Vegas is fun.

I picked shows, but we usually only see two. LOVE and one other.
I picked restaurants, but we are not into fancy meals - good happy hours help, and maybe one real good one.

The truth is that it is the "package".
I go there because it has gambling (but honestly local casinos have the same games and better odds)
I go there because I can people watch (but honestly I can people watch locally and enjoy this aspects for a lot less money)
I go there because I can get away and relax from work (but honestly there is many places to get away that are more relaxing)
I go there because the weather is noticeably warmer then home (but there is other nice and warm places)
There are many reasons I go to Vegas and each and everyone of them has a "better/cheaper" option else ware.

The Magic Vegas has is that is has a big enough taste of everything I am looking for in a get away. So when I book the trip I don't have to decide if it will be a trip to party, relax, spend at the pools or gambling. I can decide each day when I wake up what I prefer.

Number one is relax, it’s my time to take the time off and be away from work and be able to chill and not be set from running from one thing to another...

Second is food/drinks and third is gambling...
Beyond the top 3, shows and people watching are up there too!

Lots of reasons to go. Personally I first go to visit friends who moved down in '98. Second used to be golf, but the old body has nixed that. Weather would come in second these days. Third would be relaxation, doing what I want when I want. Fourth would be food. I'm not a foodie, but no matter who you are you can find what you want for a fair price. Fifth would be the hotel rooms. Again, I'm not picky. As long as it's comfortable and clean, I'm good. I just like staying in hotels. Last would be gambling. I'm only good for two-three hours a day. That's it.

We went on our first trip because my wife talked me into it. We had lots of hotel points and basically free flights so I figured what the heck. I really had no interest in but BOY did that change. To boil all of our reasons down it is our time to be adults. We ignore phones, don't care what time it is, drink, gamble, party and eat what we want when we want. No responsibilities, no cares for our week in the motherland each year. It is our adult playground.

Our main trip each year is going to watch basketball tournament (WCC). Of course gambling, warmer weather, food and relaxation are pretty good side benefits.
Wife and I have started taking another trip later on for mainly gambling and relaxation.

I can gamble in a lot of places.
I can drink in a lot of places.
I can smoke (outdoors) in a lot of places, and indoors in very few places.
I can stay up late and sleep in on weekdays anytime I take a vacation day.

...but I can only do all of those things in Vegas!

For me it’s the sensory overload that comes with Vegas being a 24 hour town. I love seeing the city light up as the sun goes down. I love hearing the ding ding ding of the slots and the clickety clack of chips being counted out in the casino. I love the taste of “free” beer and restaurants I can’t eat at home. No matter what tax bracket you’re in, I think everyone can relate to the (all too rare) feel of walking to the cage with a couple weeks worth of earnings in chips because the gambling Gods smiled down on you that day. The smells...ugh, the smells usually aren’t that great.

Here's another one who also loves the time spent hangin out in my room on a hot day in Vegas. Have a swim, hang out in my room and relax. Go out to the casino in my laid back off-strip resort and gamble a bit. Go back to my room and watch some American TV. Go for a stroll outside nearby. Back to my room to relax and eat an ice cream or make a sandwich from the fridge.

My top 3 reasons would be:
    * to enjoy the Vegas vibe and hot summer weather
    * to enjoy a week or so of hotel life.
    * to go out at night and have a few drinks and a meal and gamble.

I am with Sonya. I didn't realize how much I use Vegas as a relaxation trip until I couldn't the last time and ended up more stressed when I came home.

Gambling is also different for me in Vegas versus home where I tend to low play a lot. So that is the lesser of the three options for me.

was hoping ladies of the night would be the only thing to get any votes. Like,

Ladies of the night 8,546,932 (100.0%)

and then just straight up zeros for everything else.

Our reasons for going can be summed up into one: Vegas is goodness.

We consider Las Vegas a Fantasy land where we seem much cooler and more important than we really are or will ever be.......

We go for a bit of gambling (slots), relax in our room, and just hang around and people watch.

And we always have a meal at Ellis Island.
