A flat drain stopper is Always packed in my suitcase, also a door stop, and a thin plastic rod kit with a brush at the end to unclog drains.

I have an "Electronics Kit" with a long extension cord, three (yes 3 - count 'em - 3) USB chargers. This is often the first thing I take out, even before I hang anything up. I'll seek out a semi-convenient outlet or wall socket and get things ready.

Paper hole punch, as I will sometimes (not always) hang a key card on my key ring.

I've sometimes carried a (camera) tripod in my carry-on bag. Yes, it will fit sideways.

I know I'll think of something more strange just as soon as I hit POST. :)

For those that check bags, here is an alternate tape option. Those bag tags are usually sticky the entire lengthy. Peel off the rest of the tag and you have some instant tape!

I just thought of something else. Not me but a cow-orker.

During the winter months he will always pack a small space heater. He hates (as do I) the heaters that sound like a construction zone, which are in so many hotels. He will turn off the room heat and plug in the space heater, which is silent.

I find those air-hammer heaters to be annoying too, but not enough to pack a heater. :)

I don't always pack this, but when I go to Vegas, I pack a 12 cup coffee pot, because MGM does not have them in the rooms and my wife wants her coffee! NOW!

Back in college I took an environmental safety and health class and the professor told us he always travels with duct tape in case of a fire in the hotel, so he could seal the room off from any potential smoke from outside and to get a room close to the stairs

I travel a lot for work (I do POS/Camera/digital menu installs) and have a kit of tools, screwdriver, side cutters etc. You never know what you can fix yourself in a hotel room...

    White noise machine
    Binder clips (3 sizes)
    Power Strip
Foot Roller (plantar fasciitis is not Vegas friendly)
And these tiny sheets, about the size of a large postage stamp. They are laundry soap and a good way to wash a small article of clothing, or spot treat a stain.

Not necessarily strange, but a nice bottle of whisk(e)y and a couple of bottles of nice wine. Sometimes just want to stay in the room, look out the window and spend a bit of time soaking in the Vegas magic with a nice drink to start off the vacation

Have you considered "apps" for your phone to remove that item from the mix? We used to do that for our grandchildren.

    Lastest 2 can't go withouts -

    1. Collapsible hot water pot (Gourmia) - Must have for quick in room Cup'o'Noodles or Tea/Coffee
    2. Neilmed Sinus Squeeze Bottle + Salts - Was always getting sinus infections from Vegas air so this did the trick. FYI Wynn gives complementary distilled water.

Never pack a bag without at least four solo cups. When it comes to morning hydration those 7 ounce plastic cups just don’t cut it. Trash bag for shoes and dirty clothes, or possibly evidentiary material. Roll of TP if I have the space.
