I’m about 90% decided that I want to kick off my summer Vegas at Aliante. Though it seems quite a bit more expensive than other Boyd properties (and hey, Vegas hotels in general for that matter)... so I’d like to get some opinions from my fellow members to see if it’s worthwhile to try.

For clarity, we're talking about a hair over $500 USD all-in for four weeknights in July... and I have a number of options for free/very inexpensive rooms on these same dates.

Aliante strikes me as "my kind of resort" between the decor of the property/rooms and the dining options. The pool looks pretty sweet as well. I also like the idea of being in a relatively isolated suburb of Vegas where I can feel like a local for a few days.

... but then again, I also like the idea of not paying $500 USD for four hotel nights in Vegas a lot better :)

So while I may be leaning towards just doing it to satisfy my curiosity, I'm in search of opinions to sway me either way. Will it be underwhelming? Should I book it for two nights instead of four to avoid disappointment? Or is it a hidden gem of some kind in your eyes?

All opinions and anecdotes welcome... TIA!

I would say book it for one or two nights since it is your first time staying there. If you were to book four nights up front and ended up hating being so isolated, then you would have to deal with the expense of ubers/taxis elsewhere. If you are driving, that would change things though.

Not that it changes my response much but I was going to respond and than released it’s a NFC thread. Have you been to Aliante? Probably not because it’s so far out and without a car that would suck. It’s distance from everything else is my argument against it. If you want something nice on that side of town I’d go for GVR but not a Boyd property but if your not getting a comp and need to to pay that much for Aliante why not?

What’s wrong with Sams Town? I kind of like the property and it’s much better priced.

To be fair, GVR is nowhere near Aliante. But if you mean a similarly "isolated" property that's not quite as far away from stuff and arguably quite a bit nicer, then I agree that could be a better bet... especially since it will probably cost about the same.

And to answer your question, I have not been to Aliante for exactly the reason you said. It is actually pretty easy to get to by RTC, there's a route that goes straight up there from the south strip. But because it's hard to justify a trip out there just to check it out for a day, that's what's inclining me to try out staying there unless it's completely unremarkable.

Nothing wrong at all... if I had to name one property in Vegas as my favourite that would be it. Main reason why no Sam's Town this trip is because I'm planning to stay at Eastside Cannery (already got my suite upgrade confirmed) later in that trip anyhow, so I've already got some Henderson time cut out as it is. I've also stayed at Sam's twice, and I want to try as many new properties as I can this trip (the others on the list currently include Wynn, and Riverside Laughlin).

I've stayed there and it is a very nice property. A mini Red Rock. I am like you in that I tend to stay at different properties to take advantage of free nights. Suncoast is my goto Boyd property. I love it there but have not had much luck there lately but really like the Summerlin experience.

Staying two nights will give you a taste of Aliante and will tell you if you want to spend more time there in the future. Mix it up, I don't think you will regret it. The last time I was a Sam's Town I popped over to Eastside Cannery and was not very impressed. The casino was dead, with a lot of vacant floor space, and a lot of the food options that directed you to Sam's Town. A bit of a hike if you want to get something quick to eat.

I've enjoyed playing there several times, although I've never stayed there.

    Why?

It's wayyyyyy out in the toolies with no quick and convenient route into the city. I've kinda wanted to try the steakhouse, but never been there at the right time.

The buffet is very "OK" but don't go out of your way for it, even if out of your way is only a few blocks. :)

Oh, did I mention that it was way out in the middle of nowhere? :)

Ha sorry I did so much traveling around the whole valley last trip I honestly lost track of everything. I distinctly remember being out in the boonies and seeing Aliante in the distance and thinking damn that’s far away. Thought I saw it in the distance from Skyline or someplace on the Boulder Highway but it must of been from Poker Palace or someplace up North.

I never stayed there but the casino, although it is nice and all, doesn't seem to have the type of slot machines that I like to play, which I do when I visit local casinos.

I refrain from playing craps, my preferred game because the vibe playing craps at a local casino is different than playing at the "tourist" destinations like the Strip and Downtown.

For us we visit places like Aliante when we need a break from our usual routines. It's a nice property, though.

I agree with others about the "isolation". We've only been to golf (mediocre course, but can be cheap). Dabbled in the casino, but haven't stayed there.

Suncoast at least has Rampart and Red Rock within a short Uber ride.

NFC me and the wife have stayed there 2 times once for a night and once with some friends for 2 nights are friends are pool people and they loved the pool and cabanas we stopped and visited them there for about 15 min and it looked good to us it did not seem very busy it was a week day. We also enjoy the movie theaters they very nice and reasonable. The wife went to the spa to check it out she said it looked good to her she would use it. The rooms were as nice as any room we have had in vegas we had the base room the staff is trained very well there and were very professional also the hotel check in is separate from the casino entrance I liked that. The bingo room is paper only and no smoking but still like playing there. They have a race and sports book it was pretty good. Excellent selection of slots and vp also many table games with good limits at the time we were there you got a free buffet for 2 hrs of table play with a $5.00 bet our friends are BJ players so we ate the buffet 3 times they like free and so do I. We also ate at FARM 24-7 and it was ok not special and middle ground pricing. Medley buffet was good but not Wicked Spoon good. We did not eat at any of the other food options MRKT, Bistro 57, Salted Lime, TGIF Fridays and I think they have a Starbucks. We also really like the ETA lounge and enjoyed the drinks and music when we were there, during the day we played vp there. They also have showroom called Access for concerts we did not go in there. There is a golf course close to the casino too. I think you would enjoy a 2 or 3 night stay, 1 won't be enough to get a real feel for the place. From are 1 night stay we got 2 free night week days and $10.00 FP & $10.00 FB. After are 2 night stay we no longer offered that only $5.00 FP. but that was before they were sold. I know you will do you're homework and figure out what will work best for you. Oh the casino the Aliante most reminds me of is the M.

I never stayed at the Aliante, but I recently visited the place for the first time back in October. If you've been to other Boyd properties in Vegas, they have some similarities in amenities and looks. As soon as I walked into the casino, it felt like a Boyd property, since I've visited all of their properties now. Being in North Las Vegas and away from the LV strip and downtown, it's a lot quieter and has the feel of a local's casino, if that's important to you. Although, unless you have a rental car or plan to use Uber/Lyft to get around, it's about 24 miles from the Luxor where I was staying.

The Alliante is a first class off-strip resort...we love playing/dining there, but have never stayed there. We only stay on the strip and downtown.

I'm surprised they don't advertise it as "just a few blocks from the Strip" or something like that!

Back in March of 2015 I stayed there one night after driving to Vegas instead of driving to the strip. We got there at like 10pm, but had some energy to explore for a few hours. The TGIF was mediocre and casino quiet compared to the strip, but the hotel is very nice. The room is great, and would easily be worth $150/nt on the strip.

Never been as it's pretty far out, if you're looking for a local flavor hotel casino try the Orleans, a lot of good restaurant's and the pools not bad either, a lot less expensive as well, you might even get an offer or two later on. It's also a Boyd property.

I've been to the Orleans a few times... and I quite like it actually. Interestingly I was forming my list of possibilities for this stretch of my trip earlier today, and Orleans was right up there... both being a place I'm likely to get a comp, and being a place I've never stayed at before.

Right now I'm leaning a lot more towards staying on the strip on a MyVegas comp and just going up to Aliante for a day to check it out. I discovered you can pay to get into the pool as a non-hotel guest, so I figure I can get a good feel for it without having to pay these seemingly high room rates.

For all I know though, the price could drop in the next few months. So I'm keeping my eye on it, with the knowledge I'll get up there one way or another.

NFC I hope you make it out there. I find your trips informative and I’d be interested in your take.

There a lot of posts that are right on. It's quite a distant from the strip area. You need a car. It's decor is very nice. My room was fantastic. Casino was very nice. Gambling was typical, nothing special. We went there on a summer weekend and hoped to spend a few days drinking beers by the pool and hot tub. Surprise, Aliante has an open pool policy for locals. It was loaded with kids from diapers to early teens. I inquired from some of the parents, if it was a special occasion since there were so many kids. They mentioned that because of the pool policy it's the perfect place to take the kids swimming in the summer. This was my stay 3 years ago. I'm not anti kids but sitting in a hot tub with a beer and having a 6 year old with goggles and floaties jumping around took it's toll on my sanity. I hope it has changed because it is a nice place.

No matter what, I'll be spending a morning and afternoon there at minimum. I've already got the "day trip" version planned out... start out at the Nature Discovery park, probably the library as well, get an early bite at Capriotti's (as soon as I saw their "Bobbie" sandwich I knew I had to have it), some combination of hanging out at the pool and gambling in the casino, dinner at one of Aliante's restaurants, movie in their theatre, then back to wherever I'm staying. Might also play some bingo too, if I can stomach playing on paper (their room is paper-only).

There will be lots of photos as usual :) Only six-ish months to go...

Since Aliante appears to be a "neighbourhood" casino, it doesn't surprise me that there would be a ton of kids, especially once I discovered they allow locals to enter. This would definitely be a negative for me as well.. though as you say it could well have changed for all we know. Of course this strengthens the case for going on a day trip there; I'd hate to be stuck there for four nights in a row with the inability to enjoy the pool if it's still got a lot of kids running around.

As for getting up there, it seems pretty easy to get up there on RTC... route 119 goes straight up there from the strip area. About an hour each way (compared to about 35 minutes driving), but I'd consider that more than worthwhile to satisfy my curiosity about the place.
