Up until this year (Feb. 2019), Diamond players were able to get a drink for themselves and a friend at both Harveys and Harrah’s Lake Tahoe at any casino bar. I play mostly at bars, so I did not really use the service. But from what I could tell, if you tip and are generally not a jerk, you could get a few rounds without play.

Last November (2018), I went to a bar that I don’t play at on my way out the door and asked for a drink. I showed my card and the beer was served. The bartender told me that they were discontinuing the service soon because people were abusing it. He referred to the fact that Diamond card holders were also able to get free packs of smokes and there were some fleas going to every bar and getting 5-6 packs per day.

I think that if you throw the bartender a 5 on your first request that you should have no problem getting a round for 2 people. If your friend throws down a 5 as well...you should be able to get another round. But with the new Diamond Plus, Elite etc. lower Diamond tiers may not get the perk in the future. Getting 15,000 TCs for a local in Tahoe is not very difficult and Vegas is a different beast.

I have tried this multiple times at every bar at the Rio and the person earlier in the thread who said this comp is random/inconsistent is spot on. Idk if it even matters what bar you go to, its totally whatever the last thing the bartender was told or remembers being told on how to handle it. At the sportsbook bar once I was told I could get nothing. Once I was told I could get water/soda/red bull can free. At the bar somewhat close to total rewards, once I was told I could get nothing, and once I was told I could get any drink free. At the "elevated" bar in the middle near hotel check in I was once told I could get water/soda/red bull can free, and once told they could not comp me.

And these were not synched up as in the policy was just switching around at the time. The time the sportsbook gave me a free redbull, the other 2 bars said nothing free. The time the bar near rewards desk gave me a free drink, sportbook bar said no. It's just totally random.

Never once was my card scanned during this. However any time I did get a drink they checked my ID to make sure it matched my diamond card even if it was for non alcoholic drink. This is the most YMMV comp for diamond there is at least at the Rio. I have been told at Bally's and Flamingo there are specific bars(I can't remember which offhand) which it always works at but I have not tried it myself. (the reason I would have more faith in those ones is I believe Flamingo/Bally's has the designated free diamond drinks bars because they have no diamond lounges)

I had a similar experience at the Cromwell Interlude bar. Got a free drink from one bartender and then an hour later asked another bartender at the same bar and she said they only comp drinks for Seven Stars players. [emoji2371]

First night, I had no problem getting a drink at The Cromwell middle bar, but the next evening, I had the guy say "no, the best you can get is a Fiji water like I gave you this morning. We don't comp drinks for Diamond, maybe if you were Seven Stars". Inconsistent to say the least.

Gosh, maybe it's just me but that seems a bit snarky. He must have been having a bad day.

The guy was just rude. He was making sure that he identified you and let you know it. I would have asked if I could get a drink and thrown him a $20 tip. That really would have put him over the edge. He couldn't refuse and would reveal himself as a petty, money grubbing tip-boy.

I tried at the Flamingo, the guy looked at me like I had a third eye. He said that has never been a perk of Diamond...

Ballys gave me a free drink on my Plat card and I didn't even ask. He just saw I had the card.

Got free drinks for my wife and I at the lobby bar at Bally's last Friday just showing the Diamond card. First time I had tried that without playing. Curious if anyone has had success with this at either of the casino bars at PH (Heart Bar and the one where they have live music in the evening)?

I don’t think they have any different drink rules for them. I just know that my friend that is a seven star can get nicer wine for free when he’s at the tables.

Worked for me all over the strip 3 weeks ago.. Heart Bar, and extra lounge @ PH, Gustav's @ Paris, Bugsy's @ Flamingo.. Walked up to bar, said "Hey it's been a while since i've seen a cocktail waitress, can I please have a xxxxx" and hand bartender my players card, my ID and a few bucks, maybe 5$ if I planed on coming back a few times. Didn;t go thirsty all week..

One of the more extreme cases was when I went to Cromwell and asked for a drink. I flashed my diamond card and the bartender glared at me and said "you gotta put $20 in the machine." Then, I asked for something low-shelf and was asked for my ID in a kind of "you're under arrest"-type way.
Only later did he grudgingly give me a cheaper drink. I too was under the impression that some of the better drinks were comped at that level, but the way this particular bartender went about telling me "no" compelled me to stiff (something I rarely do) and leave.

I ordered a drink at The Cromwell interlude bar and asked if they do a diamond happy hour like Flamingo does, and he just rambled off their normal happy hour at the bar behind interlude. Bally’s lobby bar told me that it’s one drink for diamonds “per occurrence”. Then said I could come back for another “occurrence”. I’ll try at a few places over NYE

Stayed at the Flamingo over NYE. The patio bar, which is by the spa elevators, has diamond happy hour every day from 4-6pm. You are allowed to bring one guest. I had 3 others with me, and had no issues walking up and getting 2 drinks at a time. Had no issues getting drinks at Bally's lobby bar multiple times. Also has no issue getting a drink at The Cromwell lobby bar (the one facing the slots). Also, you can get 2 vouchers at the rewards desk for half off the happy half hour on the High Roller. Each voucher is good for 2 tickets, so they come to $20 a person for the open bar half hour. Just take the vouchers to the high roller ticket counter, which also has a diamond check in line.

I was able to get a mojito at the bond bar at cromwell...the typically empty high end bar next to sports book. It’s the only bar that can make a mojito there. I showed my diamond and he said you just can’t get more than one at a time. My wife wanted a mojito so it worked perfectly. Same worked at heart bar at Planet Hollywood

It sounds like things are getting more consistent. That’s a first I’ve heard from PH though. Will be nice for my April trip
