Downtown or Orleans for NCAA 1st round?

Crossing one off the bucket list. Staying either downtown or the Orleans.
Looking for a casino/sportsbook that will be fairly easy to maneuver while also being able to provide open blackjack tables.
Would the Orleans fit the bill? Or would I be better off downtown? Don't really want to go to the strip.

 

I believe the orleans uses a ballroom for the 1st 2 rounds. They also have a good set up with the book and BJ tables are right by the book. Don't think you can go wrong with Orleans

Best time to be in Las Vegas if you're a college basketball fan! I've done March Madness in Vegas four times. Gets better every year. South Point is worthy of consideration. They hold one of the few remaining free viewing parties. Been there the past two years. Great atmosphere, probably a couple of thousand attendees. Downtown doesn't have any large sports books. A friend and I stayed downtown four years ago for the first two rounds. It was OK, but not the vibe of a large viewing event. If you stay downtown, consider a trip to the Westgate for viewing. Awesome sports book and viewing event in their theater. Has been free in the past.

 

I have been in town for MM every year for the last 15 or so years. I have done strip, downtown, Orleans, and far out of town. Downtown is very crowded, and moving around under the canopy is difficult at night. The Strip is very busy as well, with higher limits. Staying at Harrah’s this year.


Orleans is busy, but it is so spacious there are plenty of places to watch the game. I have stayed at Aliante the last several years and it is not busy at all.

 

Ok, did a Google search of March Madness in Las Vegas. It seèms that the Cal, Fremont, and Elco? all have conference rooms set up. Looks like I'm good to go downtown.

El Cortez sets up TVs in Fiesta room and have some betting stations there.

They have TVs all around the casino floor so if you're playing BJ you'll be able to see some games. Their sportsbook is nothing special but it's easy to get in bet/ get out.

Last year The D downtown had a free viewing party in the Detroit Ballroom on the 12 floor. They also had private "man cave's" available to rent on an hourly basis. Here's a link.

The Golden Nugget uses their Grand Ballroom for the 1st week of MM.

 

I had a change of heart and decided to stay at the Orleans. Figured it might be easier to get a seat at a bj table than downtown. I hate overanalyzing things like I do. It seems that's part of the downside of the connected world. Lol.

 

You will like the party at Orleans. Get there by 8am

 

Do a Station Casino.....Better Comps

 

Orleans is already comped. I'd have to "play my way in" at stations.

 

There is a FB group called march Madness las Vegas that is very informative and covers all deals including Downtown and local casinos w reviews you can look at from previous years. With that said New Orleans has a free event in the Madi Gras Ballroom that has great reviews and they are generous w drink tickets. As far as downtown there is a free viewing in the D Ballroom 13th floor w food and drink availble to purchase and Blackjack Dealers in the back.

 

Found that link. Looks like wherever I stay I'm covered. MSS sweetened the pot with March offers including some free play, food credits and a kiosk game that you could win up to $100 in food or reward credits. Right now I have both the Orleans and MSS reservations. I'll cancel one when I decide where to stay for sure. Better comps vs better blackjack rules.
