You seem determined for RW to fail... Why is that?

I must admit that I'm still p*ssed at Boyd for their boneheaded decision to blow up the Stardust and try to replace it with yet another oh-so-upscale megacasino with {whatever}!

Now if Resorts World does open and does well, particularly if they truly do have better gaming (not holding my breath on this one!) all the better. I'll go there, and I'll go back if they treat me well and I don't just lose-lose-lose with bad gaming.

Taking a one-way trip to the real world, I foresee two very probable outcomes of the current plans for Resorts World:

    1. It will indeed open in late 2021 or 2022 with far less substance than the fanfare will imply. After the novelty has worn off, it will settle to price points slightly higher than, say Wynncore and V/P.

    2. It will continue to limp along in construction with many stalls and highly-promoted surges. It may eventually open, or be sold to someone who can see it through.

In my line of work, I can smell a stalled, undercapitalized project when I come across one, and this one REEKS! Sorry.

I, personally, don't see a market for it. Especially when a lot of the higher end resorts are trying to be more competitive on price and marketing to mid-level gamers. Heck, VP rooms are relatively cheap.

Not to be a total snot here, and I do admit that I have not driven by the site for a couple of months, but on my last trip there was NO {f-bomb}ING WAY there were 2200 bodies actively working at that site!

That convention center expansion is the biggest driver behind RW ramping up, IMO.

I just stayed at Encore last night with a room facing RW and nothing was going on at the site at 3 pm yesterday. Considerably more vehicular activity this morning, though. Looks like they have started building concrete columns extending toward the southeast corner of the property, which should be used as part of those two body structures you see in the foreground of the latest renderings.

Ouch $4.3 billion. Could have bought Cosmo for that and had an existing resort with millions in revenue, profitable verses the gamble they are taking, and likely still had a few hundred million or more left over. "Sunk cost" comes to mind.

I heard a "rumor" from one of the limo drivers that they are building out the rooms as they finish the lower floors, so as the outside glass goes up to seal the room from the outside from the ground / up, that the interiors are being outfitted as soon as this is happening. So essentially ( if true), the lower rooms are being finished as they are building upward. A good deal of the "supposed" 2200 employees on site may be in the interior doing this outfitting of the rooms. However, you would think with 2200 employees on site, that there would be a massive parking lot for all the employee cars, and I do not see this kind of action on that site.

There is a big garage on the SW edge of the plot where I assume all the workers are parking.

To be fair the article says 2000, so that is 200 less people to be on site.... yeah, I'm not buying it either.

Next week I'll (try to) do a drive-by and see myself what activity really appears to be happening now.

Okay, I was able to drive by the site last week and get a good look.

The outside has had progress, significantly, since my last viewing.

Most obvious thing I saw were the bright construction lights on several floors. However, I noticed that many of the lights were in EXACTLY the same place on the various floors, something that I don't think would happen in an active construction site. No workers working near any of the lights, that I could see.

No obvious activity going on. This was "Christmas Eve Day" so they get a pass on this one, this one time! Ditto for having no evidence of 2200 bodies actively cranking away.

To be fair, aren't these sites like 50-100 acres? 2000 people on 50 acres on a multiple number of levels isn't all that much. Also, when they make the claim there are 2000 people working, there may be off site areas things are being prepped in, etc. Lights usually do get hung in the same areas on every floor during construction. The electricians and other workers would do this because they know that as every new floor goes up, they just install the anchors and temporary electric in the same place every time. It is common sense.

Looks like the building is topped off so that is as high as it will go. Not sure about work on it, I can't see over the barriers along the street.

Hmmmm ... A stick of some kind might actually work with a Real Camera as well. Set the self-timer, hold it up >>CLICK<<. :)

During the demolition of the Stardust and the Westward Ho, I actually had good luck doing hail-mary shots on tippy-toes holding the camera high and aiming instinctively.

At the Stardust I also saw two guys (who appeared to be able-bodied) using a walker as a makeshift step ladder to peek over the fence and shoot with a camera.

the selfie stick is collapsible so its easy to carry around and has a threaded rod that I bet would fit in the camera, most electronics use the same thread female end on their equipment...as long as the camera isnt super heavy, it should work
